Great! Everybody's here. Let's try to come up with some background connections, and reasons we might know each other.
Sir Winston could have ties from his childhood on the mountain farm, HellKnights from one brother, Church of Asmodeus from another brother, or snooping around trying to find someone to help the last couple of weeks.

For the record, Estel grew up in Rego Crua (Blood Sector), immediately south of the northern ruins of Westcrown. It's basically very poor and slum like, though not quite as falling apart as the ruins themselves, also contains the slave market.

Background up, Long story short, he is an ex-town guard, and now he has been doing odd jobs that has lead to his conspiracy and investigation to the CoT. A lot of wiggle room if people want to weave backgrounds together.

One of the reason's he was let go from the town guards was for letting poor thieves go. One or more of these potential thieves could have been your street kids.
That works well, also puts Estel in your debt which could prove interesting.
That sounds good, especially since Ranin does not believe you owe him anything. How well should we know each other? Do you know about me by name and description only? (from word of mouth of your kids.) Or have we actually met?
Does he have a rumoured reputation for being a nice guy? If so she may have actually come to him for help with the situation, tried to play upon his conscience.
Well, he is a nice guy so there is diffidently a chance of such a reputation, but it is probably out shined by the reputation of him being an idiot and annoying. Which could either cause you not to seek him out, or more willing to seek him out. Letting the needy go isn't the only reason he was let go by the guards...

Sir Winston is a recent arrival to Korvosa, but he certainly would fall into line with anyone doing things to help the poor in the times of recovery. Perhaps working at a soup kitchen, that serves the poorer PC's.
And maybe one of Ranindolf's kinfolk or a love interest could work at the kitchen, and he sends people who need help to this location.
The Professor could be involved on the supply end. Maybe the College of Magics helps fund the kitchen, and at some time he might have had a tour of the facility with some students..."See the good things that the College does for her host city". "It is important that the community be aware of and thankful for the presence of the party".
Or maybe a covey of Imp's took residence in the attic of the soup kitchen, and Faradir was part of a group sent to deal with them.
Well as things stand I have potential connections to everyone, based on both the things I've said above and the soup kitchen. From that point of contact, we just need to detail some specifics and weave the stories a little more tightly with the details.
I have changed Sir Winston's equipment a bit. Otherwise he's ready to roll.

No and it's not a requirement, just since she's not ready to start yet, it gives us something to do, and when she's ready to start, we don't have to spend as much time introducing the characters.
I'd love to start as soon as possible.
