Background:
As the son of Damiel Shieldheart, a general in the Dottari, it was always Ranin's destiny that he would one day be a lieutenant of the guards. And one fateful day he finally entered the guards and was given his destined job. Destiny, however, was very sort-lived, because no amount of social connection could keep Ranin is such a pivotal position for long. Ranin was born a follower, not a leader... And that was all to obvious since it only took a week in his position before he was quickly demoted to a regular guard. However, this would not get Ranin down, no sir! He knew he would just work his way back up to that position one day! What got Ranin down was that within the next three months, he was thrown out of the Dottari. You see, Ranin's problem was that he had a hard time remembering all of those boring and confusing laws, and often he felt sorry for poor thief whom stole because they had no other choice, and let them go. That along with his uncouth ability to rub people the wrong way, he found himself unemployed, and unwanted back at home. So for the last few months, Ranin has been going from job to job, never able too keep a job too long. Lately, though, through some of the more shadier lines of work, Ranin has been hearing odd rumors about strange things, and some sort of Council of Thieves. "A Council of Thieves, eh?" Ranin has been often thinking to himself, "If I could capture this Council of Thieves, there is no way the Dottari or my family can turn a blind eye to that!" And thus began Ranin's investigation!
Ranin isn't a bad looking chap, but he wouldn't be considered a good looking one either. Simply put, he looks plain, down to his brow hair and simple haphazard hair cut (he has been having to cut his own presently) to his brown eyes, and cheap clothing. He wears his Dottari gaurd armor and shield, keeping the symbol covered with a sheep peace of throwaway leather (He's already been thrown into jail for a week for walking around brandishing the symbol). Even so, the style of armor is still very recognizable as the town guards, which has been both advantageous and disadvantages. Ranin is a bit uncouth, with a slightly inappropriate sense of humor. He sometimes has trouble realizing when he has crossed a line or someone's personal space. He is also not the most intelligent chap either, a bit slow. However, Ranin's eyes sparkly with an air of wisdom, often getting the jest of things or feeling though situations, even if he doesn't fully understand. His heart is in the right place and he means well.
