Estel is a kind soul at heart, but with a tough exterior born of a rough childhood and life on the streets. She's ruthless with those she considers to put her friends and city at risk, and will stop at nothing to end them. She does have a soft spot for street kids though, and will usually help them if ever possible. She bears a fierce hatred for the House of Thrune and all things hellish, and takes great pride in learning of their weaknesses so that she may one day exploit them. She also firmly believes in being ready for anything, and some of the children she takes care of have often poked fun at her for carrying such strange weapons 'just in case'.
Appearance:
Estel is a pretty young woman, if a little grubby from a life of living rough, she keeps her dark hair tied up out of the way most of the time, and dresses inconspicuously so as not to be noticed when it is important. She's of average height and weight, and is not so unusual as to have trouble blending into a crowd, something she finds very useful. She carries a multitude of blades hidden amongst the folds of her clothes, the leather bound cloth of which wraps tight around her for practicality and ease of movement. A short sword sits scabbarded over her right shoulder, with her backpack to its left, her light crossbow slung over the top. A rapier sits at her right hip, which she often rests her hand on jauntily, and at her left hip hangs a silver light mace by a leather loop. Her thick worn boots hide a cold iron dagger in easy reach.
Backstory:
Estel is from a poor family in Westcrown, her mother outcast by her family after marrying a Tiefling. Her father was backed into doing dirty jobs for Thrune for years, always trying to get out of it but never quite managing to escape their grasp. Eventually things went to far and they had him killed, which only exacerbated Estel's hatred of the House of Thrune.
She has mixed feelings about her heritage, both fascinated and disgusted by what the Hells have been allowed to do to her city and country, and as a young girl she would often hang around outside book stores, wizards workshops, and anywhere else she might be able to pick up some knowledge of what lay beyond the mortal world, so that when the time came she would be armed all the better to fight it. She is a true believer in the idea that the proper knowledge can be a far deadlier weapon than any blade, and together one can guide the other to weakest spot.
She wants Thrune cast down for more than just revenge though, she really believes that the people of Westcrown have the power to free themselves if they could only see it, and because of this she often leans towards helping the young so that they can grow up to see that what is being done in their city is simply not right. As a result of this, she has become something of a mother figure to many of Westcrown's street children, even though she herself is still young. Nevertheless, she does her best to help them with food and shelter when she can, considering them her legacy to Westcrown.
