To me, Asmodeus's evil feels pretty hard and reprehensible—the misogyny stuff alone, needless to say all the rest. But I guess as with all alignment-based issues, no two folks will ever have quite the same take?

He doesn't engage in contracts with mortals often; that's for his underlings to do. He only gets involved in the big important stuff. Which, considering the multitude of worlds on which he's doing his thing (Golarion being but one of countless)... is still probably quite a lot from a mortal perception.

Ahh, I see. I haven't read about the misogyny bits. I'll read more lore!

How do the Osirian gods interact with the Inner Sea deities, if at all?

They don't today really. That pantheon has pretty much moved on to other worlds, and don't really have much of a presence in modern Golarion's faith.

They'll still grant spells to Golarion worshipers though, right? I sure hope so, I play an inquisitor of Osiris in Mummy's Mask :/

Any deity is capable of granting spells to a cleric on any world, as long as the deity is alive. Thor can grant spells to a deity on Golarion if you want, even though we haven't statted up Thor in print. For that matter, deities from other publishers' games, deities created in fiction, or deities you make up on your own can grant spells to clerics on Golarion. Or anywhere else, for that matter.

The only one who can say otherwise, really, is your GM I guess.

So, the gods of Golarion don't mind sharing followers, or is this a cosmic thing that they have no choice about?

Forcing a mortal to worship you is slavery, not faith. The gods don't do that. In fact, this plot point is a key element of Iron Gods, and how a certain wannabe deity gets it all wrong.

Faith is an element of free will, and who you decide to worship isn't up to the gods.

Conversions and missionary work and all that DO still exist, but those are elements driven by worshipers, not the gods.

Sorry, I didn't mean that at all, but I see what you mean: the Golarion deities aren't going to hold it against other pantheons if a Golarion worshiper freely chooses to worship them instead. Cool.

Why did the Osirion pantheon choose to move on?

If we haven't said in the context of Mummy's Mask, then we haven't said. I wasn't SUPER involved with building that whole article and element, so I haven't put much thought into it, other than to imagine that they simply fell out of favor with folks on Golarion, who turned to worship of other deities.

Ahh...I guess this line of questions came from the assumption that they left because they were compelled to by the rising influence of a different pantheon of gods. This is why I falsely assumed a sort of conflict may be there. I had never considered they could've left "jsut cuz", because they can. They are gods, after all :)

Speaking of other pantheons, can you think of areas of Golarion where the Norse or Greek/Roman pantheons may gain traction in line with certain cultures?

There's certainly a Greek vibe over on Iblydos, but at this point we've got no plans to do much more with that. Maybe some day, but it'll likely be more like how you see us bring in one or two real-world deities to incorporate into a pantheon, as in the case of Lamashtu and the core pantheon.

But we're much more interested in building NEW stories as regards deities. That's more rewarding to me, personally, than aping information that other authors have done better over the centuries. :P

And yes, we have a master list of languages.

Does Paizo plan on sharing this master list by any chance? :P

Doesn't have to be in a book, could be a blog post, or a PDF or just a table on the website.

I've been compiling a list of languages on my own, I wouldn't mind having an official list to see how many I missed out.

Nope; it's a part of the living document that is our internal style guide/bible/thingy. But it's not like there's "hidden" information in there. The list would be the same as yours, assuming you pulled languages from every product we've published.

I like them and would love to see more of them, but haven't been involved in any of their creation. Licensing issues and things make referencing this content outside of their current incarnations tricky. Not impossible, but tricky. Don't expect to see it.

We've been planning/hoping to do a Planar Book for a long time. I originally wanted to do the book the year after GameMastery Guide, but we decided instead to specifically NOT just follow along the release pattern Wizards of the Coast followed for 3rd edition D&D.

Furthermore, a planar book simply HAS to include story content. It is by its very nature NOT a world-neutral book, and for many years, the RPG hardcover line was driven by the requirement that these books had to be world-neutral. That's why you see us not call it the Boneyard or Axis or the Maelstrom in the GameMastery Guide; we went for mythological names instead.

Now that we've relaxed the restriction of world content in the hardcover line (as early back as Occult Adventures, but most recently full-on in books like Adventurer's Guide and Book of the Damned and Ultimate Wilderness), that actually lets us do a big hardcover planar book.

Just took forever to get there, but we got there eventually!

An email to customer service is the best solution.

(We do try to fight against these as they pop up, but it's not something I think we'll ever be able to completely stop... which is depressing and frustrating, but it is what it is.)

Curious how that's like the only outsider race we've done that doesn't have a CR 20 "boss" huh?

In what I am sure is UNRELATED NEWS... Next year's "Planar Adventures" will have a bestiary chapter.

Hi James,

1. Is there any more information you could give on the House of Sky in the Five Kings Mountains above tanglebriar? What kind of problems would they be dealing with, especially with Treerazer minions so close by? What kind of class levels would the ruler and his parliament possibly have? Would any of them worship Tanagaar? How would they aid in a fight against Treerazer, especially if a coalition of forces from Kyonin, Galt, and the River Kingdoms were working together to slay the demonboi once and for all.

2. If an Incubus were to take class levels, which would he take? or might he jump straight to prestige class? Any kind of specializations i.e. eldritch archer magus or tattooed sorcerer as examples?

3. If Mokravud wanted to bring down a city, how might he do it? Class levels suggestion for him as well?

4. Thanks for being so nice and answering these questions. I am near the resolution of a two-year campaign, and I am very solidly in the unexplored territory portion of the world, with little resource to guide me. Each tiny sentence that can help explain enemy motives and methodologies is an extreme boon. I found a small write up on Mokravud in Demons Revisited and it has help immensely. So thanks again.

Are there any more named or special minions in the service of Treerazer unmentioned? If not specific answers, what kind of demons might he have as generals or servants that are called upon for specific tasks?

He does indeed have some special abilities, perhaps not limited to his stanky breath weapon, but until someone actually stats him up, I don't wanna say more, since I want to retain options for him to mesh with whatever story he ends up in.

There are PLENTY of more special and named minions who work for Treerazer. I don't THINK I've put Lukarayzyll into print yet—he's a unique bone-spur covered demon who served Treerazer in my homebrew. Maybe some day.

If I were to go about stating up Lukarayzyll, any suggested starting point? just general area would be great. I like the idea of a bone-spur covered demon.

No more information. Tanglebriar is one of the oldest parts of the setting, in that it was imported from my homebrew, but the Five Kings Mountains was made up fresh for Pathfinder, and I'm not 100% up to speed on how those two have ended up syncing up their stories. But the Treerazer situation is an elf thing, and the dwarves are pretty much not specifically getting into it because he's not yet focusing on the dwarves, so they're likely having a case of "It's not affecting me so we can take our time dealing with it."

A big Treerazer adventure/story is something I want to do some day, and I've a lot of ideas about it, but they're not ready for the public yet.

No prob! Hope my answers helped a little... I tend to not want to get into the "help design adventures/campaigns" type discussions here, since I feel that folks tend to ascribe too much weight to my comments, when the BEST solution is to let the GM decide. But also, it's a time-management thing for me... I can't answer a constant stream of campaign design advice. I need to save that energy for my actual job. :P

I doubt you'd consider them new, since you're pretty familiar with the past decade of our product, but yes, there are a few that we've said very little about before that most folks reading the book will interpret as brand new.

This isn't the place to do ALL NEW planes, since it's intended to be the "ground zero starting point" for folks interested in the Great Beyond.

More a clarifying question than anything else: Since you don’t have much involvement with Starfinder, I should direct any questions about it to Rob McCreary, correct (except for questions about skittermanders, which go to Crystal, since they were her creation)?

Just curious Mister Jacobs, but as you said, "this book (Planar Adventures) is more of a ground zero point" would there be a book coming in the future about planes that aren't know by all?

Is it a coincidence that "Calistria" is an anagram for "satirical"?

So since Planar Adventures is the "ground zero starting point" it is safe to assume that the material plane will be covered even though it is the plane we actually exist in?
