Please! Last weekend I played 'til 11PM, drove home & got up at 3AM, drove 200 miles to Hamilton, Ontario, ran three slots of PFS, then got in the car & drove back home 200 miles after midnight. I'll grant you the time change is a kick in the nutz.

woke up Friday at 6am... work; security for ICON bed at 7am Saturday. Saturday Awake at 130 (burrito being waived in face) security again, up all day at the con -- discussion panels mmmmm...bed at 6pm.. I don't remember the 30 mile drive home lol.. but gawds it was a great weekend.

And I got to run into Mark from Indianapolis who had come to the con because of one of the guest artist.

Don't you have to be tall enough to ride roller coasters in order to qualify to work security? ;)

omg -- just so you know I'm tall enough for most rides lol... hey it was fun busting the room full of pot smokers :P

*swoon* 35 hours

ok yeah .. it's a bit much.. humor me :P

The Exchange 5/5

omg only 3 more hours of work and I'm out the door for Ucon.. wooohoooooo

The Exchange 5/5

I'm very excited too. And nervous. I'll feel better once we start mustering tables. Tonight I have to pack up the war chariot and tomorrow we face the barbarian hordes.

I'm just ready for a fun vacation and the fact I get to game makes it that much better lol. Unfortunately I'm stuck at work twiddling my thumbs for another 2.5 hours.

This looks set to be a great con for those attending. Hope you all have a wonderful time and that PFS makes as prominent a showing as it has been doing at other recent conventions. Thanks for all your dedication, Doug, Kyle, Thea, etc. Let us know how it goes!

Thanks Mark! I'm very lucky to have such a loyal crew willing to come and back me up, else I would not be able to offer such a spread. We'll share some pictures as things get rockin'.

Well I've put in a 60 hour week already, have a 6 a.m. flight, and then an entire day of gaming, followed by *waits for it* two more days of gaming. Can't wait!

*wishing I had more time to prep*

Any Classics (as in "pick a mod no one has played and play it") type games?

Angus and I have returned to the land of free health care! Great con everyone - amazing turn out for PFS and a great group of players including some new converts. Huzzah!

What a great weekend! So what was the final table count Doug Doug? How did the tables per slot compare to Origins?

Thank you Doug, Kyle, Ted, Frank and glad I got to meet Thea (Whose Avatar doesn't do justice to her). I got to play with some new folks, and Watch out for Doug's new 20-sider. First time rolled for a BBEG, Nat 20 crit, with a Nat 20 Confirm crit. NOT a good way to start the battle for us PC's.

Made it home -- that is a long long drive and Illinois is best driven in the dark lol. Had tons of fun, met a lot of new people. Can't wait for next year hehe

I even navigated the ridiculous road that took me from Indiana to Illinois -- I like Iowa roads better lol.. they aren't confusing...

Pulling into Ottawa. So tired. Must sleep.

I am relieved that most of my GMs have gotten home safe. Now I only have to be concerned about Wes making it back. He & Amy are probably still in the air right now. Of course, he's not actually driving the plane for 10 hours like some people going home. Still, if you had to choose, which would you rather do? Drive 10 hours or be trapped on a plane for 24 hours?

I mean to do a more complete post later today, but I have a lot of work demanding to be addressed this morning. At first blush U-Con ran 53 tables of Pathfinder Society events this weekend. Saturday night we had 8 tables of the Special go off. It was a blast. More later.

5/5

Are the tables reported yet? ;-)

Liberty's Edge

Thanks for the Smooth Running events Doug, I had a blast even if i was only there for Sat. I loved the Special, nice fast moving pace and relief not to worry about faction Missions :>

Sovereign Court 4/5 ** Venture-Agent, Indiana—Valparaiso

Thanks to Doug, Kyle, Bob, Thea, Mike, Frank, Adam, Jeff and all the other GMs who I don't know for all the hard work!

I had a great time and the special was awesome! It was great to see some familiar faces again and meet lots of new ones!

Only downside was never getting to play Stay of Execution... but that's Bob's fault.

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 ***

WHAT A BLAST!!! Uconn is added to my must-attend list. As usual, Doug organized a great con, and Kyle was an awesome Overseer for the special. Too bad the other tables had to bail out the high-tier's when they all DIED!!! lol...seriously, the special was a lot of fun.

Special thanks to Neil for running Hall of Drunken Heroes. We didn't burn it down (saving my paladin years of therapy) and now I have a silver mug of Cayden Cailean from which to drink. HUZZAH!!!

Nice to see some old faces again, and meet some new ones. Although, if I never again see that dominating fey sorceress (you know who you are) at my table, it'll be too soon. Oh, and the dwarven jailor is still touching your butt. :-D

It wasn't my fault, I swear (sweating and looking guilty). On the good side, it's being retired for a reason. I'll make up for it at the local game.

Bob Bob you scoff at me, but I'm a small town Iowa girl .. more than 2 lanes on one side and I'm confused -- srsly 5 lanes on one side and too many signs to read all at the same time. I'm thankful for my GPS lol.. it tells me to keep left and then keep right *giggles*

I would have loved to have been able to attend, but after just getting back from Neoncon, any attemt to drive to Ann Arbor would have resulted in my wife killing me (in a painful, more permanent way than Kyle kills characters).

So tired? Must sleep?!?

What?

You didn't even drive for one second! You were half nodding off, and periodically leaving Taco Bell reminders in the car! You're tired?!?

Ugh.

Well, I guess you had to listen to me yammer on for ten hours. That has to be a bit tiring...

Thanks to Doug for all the work he did for the con, to Kyle for being the overlord of the Special, and to all the GMs and players that had to put up with me. I had a great time and it was well worth all the time that I had to spend in my car. (Well, it may not have been worth the few seconds at a time before I was able to open windows after Glen's contribution to the car ride home...but that just may have been one of the ways he was trying to keep me awake and on my toes while driving.)

Hopefully I'll be able to make it next year for the whole con and won't have to make the drive twice in such a short period of time.

I would much rather be driving for 10 hours since I have control over driving and can stop if needed and when I want.

Also, plane seats don't give me enough leg room and I don't want to think about being trapped in there for a 24 hour stretch. Six or seven hour flights are usually very uncomfortable enough for me.

Great to see all of you again. A fun con, and Doug is an excellent host.

But maybe next time you could arrange to have some proper toppings for the french fries... you know, vinegar, or gravy and cheese.

Just to clarify something here: Only three players died during the Special event, and all three were at the only Tier 10-11 table. They had an unfortunate encounter with something black and huge knocked that down two of their party, one of which was their only healer. The remaining three left them for dead and used dimension door to escape... right into Charvion's room.

See? It wasn't that bad! The rest of the Society rallied together and saved the day, even after the tier 10-11 table left them behind at the gates. ;-)

Sounds like U-con was gold!

Is there an attendance estimate? Because it sounds like the con had a lot of tables running.

I'm going to say that there was a lot lol.. I have no official numbers, but the PFS rooms always seemed to be packed and I know I ran a pickup table, and some others did as well.

I don't have any figures for the overall convention attendance. As far as PFS goes, I counted 273 event tickets sold. We only had like 157 tickets sold in advance so there were a lot of walk-ons using generic tickets. Our busiest day was Saturday in the afternoon slot when we seated 57 players. There were 8 slots offered over the three day convention and we met our goals for events filled. I didn't have any time to walk around and scope out things, but I have an impression that PFS drew more attendance than any other game system.

I was happy to play in two of Glen's games at U-Con. He did a great job GM'ing and we blazed through a lot of encounters. The pacing was excellent and he had a very solid grasp of the rules. Kudo's to all who were involved in setting this up and running it.

On a somewhat interesting sidenote, I counted in the events catalog 17 4E events vs. 34 PFS events. Make of that what you will.

During the Year of the Shadow Lodge, we had 8 full tables. The LFR Battle Interactive had two tables (at the same time slot). So clearly that means that PFS is four times more popular than LFR world wide, right? ;-)

I like your logic, sir.

Thanks for running all the great games, guys! Doug, you did a great job overseeing the hordes. You answered all my newbie questions too. Well, you and the fellow from Toronto who was wearing the name tag of his evil twin.

I was only signed up for 1 in advance, but ended up playing in 1 of Mike's, 1 of Bob's, and 1 of Kyle's as well. Made for a very full weekend.

Looking forward to seeing you folks around.

I feel like I could just cut and paste my "Thank You Everyone!" post from Origins. It felt like an Origins reunion because I had so many of my saviors from Columbus make the trip to Ann Arbor to pitch in and help me out again. I owe all the success at the con once again to my GMs. I am grateful for their willingness to set aside their lives for three days and entertain the barbarian horde who invaded the Michigan Union.

I would like to recognize the volunteer GMs here on the boards. I am going to list them in order of distance traveled to get to the con, although credit certainly can't be judged from distance alone.

Wes Nicholson (Australia)
Glen Shackleton (Ontario)
VC Neil "Not-Craig" Shackleton (Ontario)
Thea Peters (Iowa)
Robert Jonquet (Illinois)
Swift Brook (Location Classified)
Kevin Wixon (Kalamazoo, MI)
Mike Elliott
Ted Fletcher
Kyle Baird [Overseer GM for "Year of the Shadow Lodge" Special Event]
Jeff Stop
Pete Cooney
Roger Kernsmith
Adam Pont
Frank Pont
Mike Combs

If I forgot anyone, please forgive me! Thank you all for your support and for making me look good here & at the convention!!

And also a big thanks to all the players who attended and enabled us to set a record number of Special tables (outside of GenCon).

Hey thanks for the kind words. I had a lot of fun running games in my first time at U-Con - it was really great to have a mix of experienced and new players at all my tables- it really gave the new people a chance to see how awesome gaming can be with the mix of fun role-playing opportunities, problem solving and strategic combat / teamwork. You were among those players that made my experience a great one so kudos to you for signing up and sticking with me for two scenarios!

I think that U-Con was my best gaming convention experience to date. Doug and others did a great job of making us all feel welcome and appreciated. There were a wide variety of scenarios on offer so I got a chance to play in some really fun games run by Thea, Kyle and Doug. My only regret is that I did not actually get to coerce the monkey into wearing a pink negligee. There is always next time. ;-)

The con was just the right size that you didn't have massive lines at the food court or washrooms but there were lots and lots of games on offer. I even bought a few awesome boardgames (Smallworld, Arkham Horror and Dominion) at half the price I would have paid in Ottawa. Running the special was also a real highlight for me- Kyle did a great job of coordinating the chaos.

A pretty awesome weekend which I highly recommend to others who might consider attending next year.

Thank you for setting the record straight. Yes, only three members of the party got killed. The two sorceresses and I were able to hold out for several rounds against Charvion, but when the sorceresses were knock down to, um, something like negative 40 HP each, old Slithy knew it was time to regroup. (For one thing, I can't flank by myself for the sneak damage.) I went back and revived the paladin who was unconscious on the roof, but when we returned, Charvion was nowhere to be found.
