(APG) What archtypes stack?

Rules Questions

Liberty's Edge

Just curious if someone's already gone through the book to see what Archtypes can be stacked. If not, maybe we should start such a list right here, eh? Here's my tiny starting contribution, more as I have time to absorb the APG.

Monk:
Drunken Master and Monk of the Four Winds

Paladin:
Undead Scourge and Warrior of the Holy Light

I put up a spreadsheet that should lay out most of your options.

Sovereign Court

Nice job Joe

As I've already said in the other thread, it's a great work and a job well done.

Pouring through the Spreadsheet made by Joe I've already found that a Fighter (for example) can only benefit from a single Archetype (since there is always at least one ability that overlaps - Bravery for example is changed from almost all Archetypes, and when Bravery is not changed then Armor Training 1 is), and Monks can be both Four Winds and Iron Mountain (for example).

Anyone else find it odd that you can have a bard who's a Savage Detective? Or a Court Savage? Or a Savage Performer? (Actually, that last one is probably not that unusual, even savage tribes need performers).

Barbarian
Drunken Pugilist
Hurling Pugilist
Invulnerable Drunk (That just sounds awesome!)
Drunken Savage
Superstitious Drunk
Mounted Savage
Mounted Superstitious Barbarian
Mounted Elemental

Bard
Savage Detective
Court Savage
Savage Performer

Monk
Drunken Four Wind
Four Ki Winds
Lotus Ki
Drunken Lotus
Drunken Mountain
Sacred Ki Mountain
Empty Handed Weapon Adept (Sounds so wrong)
Drunken Weapon Adept
Ki Weapon Adept

Paladin (First 3 fer I've found)
Divine Warrior of the Holy Light
Divine Undead Scourge
Divine Undead Scourge of the Holy Light
Undead Scourge of the Holy Light
Divine Hospitaler of the Holy Light
Hospitaler of the Holy Light
Sacred Hospitaler
Shining Knight of the Holy Light

Ranger
Beast Infilitrator
Skirmishing Beast Infiltrator
Skirmishing Beast Master
Beast Guide
Horse Guide
Skirmishing Horse Guide
Infiltrating Horse Guide
Skirmishing Infiltrating Horse Guide (Four fer!)
Shapeshifter Guide
Skirmishing Shifter
Skirmishing Shifter Guide
Infiltrating Horse Lord
Skirmishing Horse Lord
Infiltrating Skirmisher
Infiltrating Spirit Ranger
Skirmishing Spirit Ranger
Infiltrating Skirmishing Spirit Ranger

Rogue
Acrobatic Burglar
Acrobatic Scout
Acrobatic Trapsmith
Cutpurse Burglar
Investigative Burglar
Poisoning Burglar
Rakish Burglar
Sniping Burglar
Spying Burglar
Swashbuckling Burglar
Thugish Burglar
Cutpurse Scout

Poisoning Sout
Poisoning Trapsmith
Rakish Scout
Rakish Trapsmith
Sniping Scout
Spying Scout
Swashbuckler Scout
Thugish Scout
Sniping Trapsmith
Swashbuckling Trapsmith
Thugish Trapsmith

I'd say Rogue, Barbarian and Ranger got shown quite a bit of love. So did the Paladin.

I really really wish you could have had Hurling Drunk. :)

Thanks for the list mdt, flipping back & forth with a pdf is a pain.

The empty handed weapon adept monk amuses me...too bad hungry ghost doesn't stack with any of the others though.

Ya there are some arch types that often sound like they would fit like a dream. Like Spy Detective or Rake Detective but they share the same slots.

My favorite combo is Drunken Monk of the Four Winds which if you get to level 20 you would end up with an eternal drunk.

No problem. I was curious myself. :)

I still would love the drunken hurler, just for the name. :)

Liberty's Edge

Wow! Thanks guys, this is fantastic.

I feel like there's a lot of potential band names here. Cutpurse Trapsmith. Drunken Weapon Adept. And yes, Savage Detective.

I too feel that the omission of a Drunken Hurler is a grievous error. If nothing else, you can still get the hurling rage powers. But then you're just a drunk guy who hurls. Heh.

theres a thread called "druken master of the four winds iron mountain monk"

soo wrong

It doesn't? Because I'm pretty sure you can make a Hungry Mountain monk. Which is actually pretty cool since you combine life-stealing with increased defense.

I've seen that spread sheet of yours, like, five times. I still can't make heads or tails of it.

How do I know what fits together and what doesn't?

Take the Paladin, for instance. Looking at the sheet, you can see that Divine Defender replaces the Mercy class feature with Shared Defense and restricts Divine Bond to armor only.

Hospitaler modifies Smite Evil and Channel Positive Energy while replacing Aura of Justice with Aura of Healing.

Looking at the two archetypes on the grid, you can see that they don't change the same class feature, so they can both be taken by the same character.

Liberty's Edge

I thought that archetypes within a class don't stack.

They can if they don't replace the same class feature.

APG, pg 72- A character can take more than one archetype and garner additional alternate class features, but none of the alternate class features can replace or alter the same class feature from the core class as another alternate class feature.

Upshot- A Ranger (Horse Lord / Infiltrator / Skirmisher) is legal.

There are a couple of judgment calls, though. For example, Ranger / Guide replaces Hunter's Bond with Terrain Bond, which works off of Favored Terrain. That character probably shouldn't swap out Favored Terrain with another archetype, even though it should be legal.
