Stereofm wrote:Yup; as part of my work revising the Campaign Setting, I designed the rest of the continents. That version of the map is relatively detailed as far as coastlines are concerned; the version we'll be running in the book is a bit less detailed but more "in game" realistic so that folks can see the basic locations of everything. I might end up posting both in a side by side comparison here on the blog in a few months if folks are interested...vagrant-poet wrote:There IS a World map ????? Will it be shown on the blog sometime?
I know I'm interested! Who else wants to lend their voice to this cause!!!

I certainly will! On a side-note there were a few fan-done attempts at this that actually had JJ giving some advice on placements of island chains and landmasses.
To see something official would take the cake though!
I know that the one I made got posted at by both JJ and Erik, if there are more I'd love to see them, see how close we all guessed it!

That map actually was the spark that got us off our duffs to actually get the world map done, to be honest. And there's some pretty close similarities—and probably one or two surprises waiting for discovery...

Well hot damn! Awesome!
I'm really intrigued to see more of the largely unmentioned swathes of the world, Sarusan, Southern Garund, unmentioned but probably Southern Arcadia! I know this blog is probably months away, but I'm really excited about it!

I think an online version would be cool and help full, But a a really cool laminated with a scroll case when it comes out would be Awesome. No creases and a cool case, I would pay money for that. Of course I will pay money for one that is folded too and be happy for the privilege.
I'm still petitioning for a globe when the world is finished

I would totally buy a globe.

I would love to see a map of the world.
Mind you, MOST characters will not know what the world looks like. Heck, maybe even the leaders of the Pathfinder Society might not have detailed maps. (However, someone might have seen what the world looks like from space.)
There are some businesses that make globes but I don't know how much one would cost.

In the interest of managing expectations... don't expect to see anything other than the shape of the continents on this map. We are in no way ready to reveal things like mountain ranges or the like on our world map.
I just hope this decision doesn't impact the deliciousness of Lilith's cake.

Dang... I'm always spouting off before the cake is in the mail and cannot be tampered with.

THE CAKE IS A LIE!!
Now that that is out of the way I vote for everything mentioned in this thread. And now to figure out how to get to Paizo Con for aforementioned Golarion World Map Cake.

If the aforementioned Mistress of Evil Confections does make such a cake...it would likely be worth coming to PaizoCon just for that (not to mention the other cool stuffs). I've had her cooking...trust me.

I can't believe it... three days and still no blog posting of the world map.
(BTW, Paizonians, there is money in my pocket that would just loooove to get spent on a poster map and/or globe.)
We're probably closer to three weeks (or even three months) away from a world map posting than three days... It CERTAINTLY won't be happening before Gen Con, in any event.

IMO, INTERACTIVE MAP. Fully update it, give me a massive map, not just static but lets me peel away the layers of history, as if I am a god of knowledge. Let me see the world as Nethis does. That would be awsome, fill out the rest of Thassilon, Show me where the epic battles of Geb and Nex took place, How meany demon incursions are occurring in the worldwound. That map would be awsome. The makings of a level 21+ website.

The problem with creating a globe of Golarion is that the entire map would have to be redrawn to fit on a spherical shape. I just have to point to greenland as an example of the level of distortion a flat map has on a curving surface.
Just to further drive the point home compare:
world map
north america
I think the amount of work needed to stretch the map onto a globe will be the biggest hurdle for the cartographers and I think they could be put to better use doing other projects.

they could do this, but they charge you for it.

It comes down to the idea that there is always more to the world, Geting the map on the blog is one thing, but by this time next year it would be out of date. With the AP, Society, and fiction all comming out at the same time it would be nice to have an up todate map and world notes. I mean you don't want this to turn into Rifts right? Sweeping story and no context to how it affected the world.

I would simply be happy with a poster size to scale continent map along the detail lines of the one in the world guide. Well for now...
Eventually though (like 20 years from now), when I can afford to have it done... Paizo needs to finish the whole world at the same scale and detail as the Inner Sea Map Folio... so that I can have it fresco-ed onto one wall of my house.
