Gooooooooooooooooooood morning Fawltyhoose!

Or what passes for it. Yesterday was a bear after I logged out. I took the bike along a newer(read: one I rediscovered since I don't go to college anymore) route that actually got me at the train station faster than usual. The 5 train(an express train that would get me to the FNSLGS quickly) pulled in on the 2 train(a local train that would get me there only just in time) track, which is an odd, but not unknown occurence. Everyone asks the conductor if it would be turning into a 2 train since it was on the track, and he says yes. So off I go to the other side of the station to get the 5 train that's just pulling in. The train on the 2 train line side of the track leaves first, but many people notice that it still says "5" on it at the top. I don't pay heed though- it's often switched once they get into the second station anyway. Another train pulls in to the spot the one that just left vacated, and I'm thinking we're leaving next. It turns out that we're not, this train is going to be taken out of service. I'm livid at this- I could have gone out on that first train that I'm now having a sneaking suspicion was remaining a 5 because they knew they were taking this one out of service. We all get off the train, roundly cursing at any MTA staff we encounter all the while for their stupidity. A 5 train pulls in at the opposite platform, but this one DOES turn into a 2 train, and so I'm steamed as we make our way into manhattan. I get to the game store exactly 10 minutes before they close, and grab my stuff without making any small talk with the people there as I am nursing sore muscles from dragging my bike through the 34th St./Penn Station stop and fighting with people who are just getting off of work and tourists who just want to watch. I spend a little more than I thought I was going to on stuff(Need the Map Folio for Kingmaker), and rush on down to my second job's headquarters to pick up stuff for tonight's shift. I get there to discover the elevator is broken. The office is on the third floor. Crap. I go old school and haul my bike upstairs just like the messengers whom I envy do, and grab the necessary materials for that night's shift, thanking god that we now have some condoms for men who need the extra wiggle room(long story...and yes, I realize how that sounds). Going down three flights of stairs with a bike, a plastic bag full of condoms and a messenger bag full of netbook and D&D stuff is just as much fun as it sounds. I haul myself downtown to the train station I need and end up standing all the way on the l-o-n-g trip home. I arrive, kiss the wife(who hasn't cleaned anything, preferring to focus on her hair), and sit down to cool off, when I get a text message from my partner for the evening. Her palm isn't working, and she can't get into manhattan and please say I have an extra one for her!!!!! Naturally, I don't, and I'm more than a little miffed at her because this is the third non-consecutive time she's done something like this. She's short(comes up to my shoulder) and adorable as a button, but she makes me wonder as just how she graduated college. The shift is cancelled, and I want to make sure that I get paid for it- I'm tired of paying for her mistakes.

Long story short, all the running around was for nothing. I could have indeed joined in my friend's celebration of her 21st birthday party at that tea house/bookstore I always wanted to go to. I could have taken my time in manhattan and actually shot the breeze with fellow gamers for a few minutes. I could have taken the scenic route home instead of the crowded one. I could have actually hooked up with the manhattan Paizoites. I could have done so many things...but no. Don't worry, I'm not about to go postal at work, as I have the latest Kingmaker supplement to peruse, but I am a little tweaked. This weekend is the last weekend I'll be in NY, and I'm hoping I get to go to my friend's house for yet another birthday party on Saturday and then relax with the wife on Sunday, probably taking her out on a date or something. Maybe I should play the lotto or something...

Please tell me your day yesterday was better than mine.

[EDIT]Aaaand I just discovered the Bulman's ideas for wizards for Pathfinder are almost exactly what I'd been slowly working on for my homebrew for some time, just potentially BETTER. Oy vey. What next?

Yep. She actually said the words to my wife -- "I'm glad that the 'mother curse' worked and you have a difficult child." Actually, he's not that difficult. He's just testing us (a lot) because they are here. Next week, we'll be having a real vacation at Rocky Mountain National Park with good friends of ours. And these friends are like the exact opposite of what we're going through right now. It will be nice.

I see no edition warring in Uchawi's post; this post was calm, well-reasoned, and actually provided some customer feedback to us. What it didn't do was implicitly insult one game or another. This is the type of post that I would love to see more of, frankly.

Because ignoring the fact that D&D and Pathfinder both exist is not a solution. It IS possible to talk about both games without getting all annoying.

Understood painfully well. I'm going to compare prices as to what I can purchase used versus the discounted Borders price. That'll help make my decision....

But what I really need is for KOTOR to be found at an affordable price. Grrr... There's only two Borders up here and I'm confident they do not exist at either locations. :/
