So, I've been getting caught up on new Paizo threads (for example, did you know about this D&D Essentials thing?), and I came across this, which killed a few hundred thousand neurons.
Moff, don't read this. I don't want you to experience apoplexy.
At what point can a GM allow there players to control there companions
in combat without feeling like there ignoring the rules?

Dan is having way too much fun prepping for gaming. We start Witchwar Legacy tonight and I am hearing much too much of the evil DM laugh. Well, that and he likes poking fun at my poor character who has an unrequited crush on a fellow party member. She has a 27 Charisma. He has an 8. For some reason this makes the situation so much more amusing. Lately it's kind of been the how can we make Elijah's life a living hell game. Sigh. Serving up a side of heartbreak to go with that steaming dish of humiliation. ;)
(In case you can't tell I'm really looking forward to gaming. I am so burnt out right now. This is like the only non-responsible adult thing I get to do all week.)

Very good. At the risk of being dumb: Witchwar Legacy?

Yeah, for a private university with tenure track.
To answer your earlier query, I tried to link the episode of Futurama, "The Deep South," but there's some new YouTube TV Series thing. Anyone else run into this bullcrap before?

Ah. For some reason I thought the name of the module was Witchwar something else. I was trying to figure out how WW and LoF might be mashed, and coming up with fail.

OK, thanks.
I haven't watched enough Futurama to have caught on to the allusion. I don't spend much time on youtube either except to occasionally listen to some music. I guess I don't have much of a life. ;)
Good luck with the job hunt.

Games are on an individual basis, not some meta-physical perfect game that only exists in thought experiments.I never thought I would say this but I think I miss AD&D.
Fighting over the placement of prepositional phrases or editing consistencies as the basis over whether a game is fun is so disheartening. I wouldn't care so much but it has sort of infused the culture at large...I just don't remember it being as bad as it seems *now*
Is this what getting old feels like?
Yeah...
I know that but sometimes I still naively believe that the dynamic will shift.
Ultimately I think it isn't just the internet but the need to lay out game books in an increasingly technical manner or rather that people expect a more "computer" like interaction of known terms and verified dependencies.
My bread and butter is the Internet so I take the good with the bad but I think the increase of like minded access and more strict a+b=c layouts and interpretations make someone like me nostalgic for the days where I just said "I climb the wall".
It's probably all of those things ... but mainly I blame the internet.

I got your reference. Unfortunately, I couldn't respond in kind.
