Can I enchant a shield with both defensive and offensive bonuses?
For example, could I give a +1 shield enchantment (defensive) and, say, a +1 weapon bonus (offensive)?
I am aware that the Shield Master feat lets you apply your "shield enhancement" to attack and damage, but does that imply you cannot normally enchant a shield as a weapon?
Thanks!

i would say they don't stack. it just leads to broken bs.

I remember there was a semi official ruling on the boards here a little while back... but I cannot recall which thread or forum name.
I do remember the ruling was they do not stack- I think the argument was something similar to multiple enhancement bonuses cannot stack. Or something similar... I believe the spirit of the feat is for those that wish to smack with there shield they can get a bonus to the hit and damage that they otherwise lose out on vs. TWF normaly.
And yes allowing them to stack would lead to all sorts of evil Tom Foolery and we don't want him running around again ;-)
