Essential iPad apps

Technology

Please post useful iPad apps (or iPhone apps), in the context of Pathfinder RPG in specific, and d20 roleplaying in general. Don't spam... only post if you're going to include an App that hasn't already been mentioned before in the thread in your post.

App name: iBooks
Cost: Free
Use: View pdf files. (Great for Paizo subscribers!)

I don't know if these qualify as "essential," but by coincidence, this Wired article was released at about the same time you posted.

I personally like Goodreader for PDF reading. Much faster than iBooks for large, image heavy PDF like Paizo's. However, Apple handles PDF in slightly non standard way such that the capital letter "A" is often rendered incorrectly for Paizo's PDF.

I was not impressed by that article. I'm finding that Wired disappoints me more and more.

The only one I find interesting there is the comic book reader app.

So... any good apps come out in the last year-and-a-half?

iCrit & iFumble. Two apps based on the Crit & Fumble card decks.

I use Initiative Tracker. It's barebones, but it's free.

I have an iPod Touch so I'm not sure how these apps translate to the form factor of an iPad, but I have replaced the default 4 apps on the front with these three must have apps:

(NOTE: These prices are what I paid for the apps when I got them, current price may be different)

PFR - $4.99 + $1.99(UM) + $1.99(UC) - searchable/indexed PFSRD. You ask why you need this when you have iBooks or Goodreader? Try to find that one piece of information in all your books and then ask me again. I also like the Off-line pages and Bookmarks.

Spellbook - $1.99 - Best spell book in the game. Organized by favorites and by class. Wizard, click, level 3, click, Fireball click. I choose the spell and hold it up to my GM and tell him what I'm casting. Its faster than trying to find the spell elsewhere. PFR has the information, but in this app its organized better.

Summoner - $1.99 - best way to summon creatures. Quickly summon any creature and maintain all their stats and hitpoints. All special abilities are quickly accessable. Only problem with this app is trying to maintain multiple sets of creatures (e.g. cast a Crocodile and then cast an Earth Elemental), but casting 1d4+1 Earth Elementals this app can handle. With a click it will roll to-hit and damage as well as Saves if you want to save from rolling dice.

Spells- by Scott Seligman best all around pathfinder app. Good for rules, spells etc. Pfr slightly more comprehensive but the wicked awesome speed of the spells app leaves it ahead of the competition. Also better I think at spell book keeping than the above mentioned spell book app but only if you are keeping track of one character. real time searches are wonderful... Especially after you have sat through PFR's long count up searches. All of these apps including good reader have their place, but right now if I had to choose one that actually aided game play by speeding things up for everyone significantly it would be the spells app. I rarely use the others anymore.

I use an iPad, and a windows tablet running hero lab when I play.

Spells - ditto on the above with this one. It's really fast, you can tag favorites within sections (like selecting the spells your sorcerer knows, or all the feats your fighter has so they're grouped in one list). To date, all additional content has been free, he adds all the OGL content, no additional purchases. It's also really cheap.
