What scrolls should I get?

Advice

My sorceress/bard/druid has the read magic cantrip, allowing her to use scrolls. I'm thinking, what scrolls should she get.

I don't want to rely on scrolls, because they cost money to replace. But there are times when it might be really useful to have a useful spell.

So, I put the question up here: what scrolls would be the most useful for a sorcerer/druid?

Haste is always a good one. Mage armor? Maybe a Glitterdust and an Ice Storm.

Those ones are always useful, and are fairly flexible in use as well.

Well if you want a damage spell then I would suggest the spell Jet of Steam. It is a first level spell but can hit multiple enemies. It is 3.5 and found in the Spell Compendium however so I don't know if you are allowed that or not.

A large stack of scrolls of Web, and an handful of Produce flame.

Have fun.

Since scrolls cost money, I am looking for spells that I would not need to cast in every battle, but I would be really glad to have when I needed it. An example might be grease which is really useful when a party member has just been grabbed by a monster.

But my sorceress already knows that spell, so there is little need to buy a scroll with it.

She already has a scroll of web. That is the kind of spell I am thinking of. Something that can be really useful -- it can block passages, take prisoners, immobilize opponents, and even set up fire traps or stop falls.

Maybe a comprehend languages scroll would be useful. Perhaps also Knock, and Arcane Lock. Maybe even Wall of Stone.

Sovereign Court

Comprehend Languages, Knock, Hold Portal, Levitate, See Invisibility, Expeditious Retreat, and Gust of Wind are what I can think of for spells that at some point you might have a sudden need for any not have on your spell list at the moment. Gentle Repose is a bit morbid but if someone dies and your not sure how quickly you can get them recovered or raised, it's not a terrible thing to have either.

You want situationally useful. It's important to be prepared (like a boy scout) and have the right tool for the job without blowing the bank on it. A smoke stick or two and a potion of Lesser Restoration/Water Breathing/Neutralize Poison/etc are also useful. :)

I would add:

Endure Elements
True Strike
Unseen Servant
Mount
Floating Disc
Disguise Self
Erase
Jump
Reduce Person

All of them are useful for a sor/wiz in very specific circumstances, but not really worth memorizing or dedicating a slot to.

Once you get to a higher WBL, Mount and Floating Disc make good choices for wands, instead.

I typically use scrolls for extra utility that you don't want to have memorized every day or back-ups of spells you know you cast a lot.

Comprehend Languages
Zone of Truth
Align Weapon
Enlarge Person
Grease
Stone Shape
Remove Paralysis
Remove Disease
...etc.

The rest of your party will appreciate if you have Faerie Fire or Glitterdust to go along with See Invis.

Comprehend Languages and Speak With Animals are both situationally useful. A few scrolls of Mount might be nice for quick getaways. If you have ranks in Use Magic Device, a Lesser Restoration or two is expensive but worthwhile in case your party cleric is Wisdom drained.
