Hey I am part of the Pathfinder Society Social Group at EnWorld and wish to run a game online.
What should I do about the following.
a) Not enough gamers yet so won't start till everyone has created a character. Meaning no event date till the day the last character is made and then I will start a thread (this will be pbp).
b) Time difference. As I said above this is pbp so not going to be done in 4 hours, heck I doubt it is done in 4 months.
c) Record sheets and what do I report excatly.
d) Is there a special online section here that I have missed?
thanks in advance..

Here is how I will be handling the PFS game I am running via PbP.
a. The event doesn't need created prior to the event. I will set the event date to the day the PbP ended.
b. PbP falls under the Home Game portion of PFS play I believe and does not need to adhere to the time limit restrictions of convention play.
c. Reporting for each character should include reporting their Pathfinder Society ID # and the -x portion designating which character. The character name and faction should auto-populate. Put in the amount of prestige they earned in the scenario. Note if the character died in the adventure.
In addition I will be scanning the chronicle sheets from the adventure and sending them to the players in the PbP so they can use the characters in another game later.
d. I am not aware of a special section for the online play aspect of PFS. Most of the questions that come up would apply to both table and online play gaming save for a couple of unique things.

Sounds easy enough th eonly thing I don;t have in all that is the sheets as I have no scanner/printer, just the laptop.
HM
That would make it extremely difficult IMO to run a session since the way I view a GM's signature is the same way I'd view it on a check. It's what validates a sheet.

I see there was some problems with the auto-populate for the GM and issues with entering it. Has that been corrected? I planned a session a month ago and couldn't report it because it said the GM didn't exist when I entered my number. So I assumed I wasn't in the system yet. A month later it still doesn't work so I checked the message board to find others had the problem back in May.
Interestingly when I typed a bumber 6,000 less than my number it did not report that the GM didn't exist (paraphrasing error).
What am I doing wrong?
I have a session number (now canceled in fustration).
I have a Society number.
Someone suggested to someone else delete it and start over??

It told me the same thing when I entered my own number for a GM number from our Aug 21 PFS. I just typed it in even though the system advised it couldn't find it and I received credit for it under my sessions.

it says:
"8. Click "Download session sheets" next to event name to download session tracking sheets for your event's GMs."
There is no such thing listed next to my event name!
Try putting in a day. If I recall correctly, the "download event sheet" button requires a day to be listed. There's something specific that's required for it to show up.

So I have been trying to update a character from a game at the last PaisoCon, but two of the Scenarios were never entered by the DM. I still have my sheets, how can I get credit for them?
As Far as I know the last PazioCon has not been put into the system yet.
Mark will put it into the system, though patience is required.
That said, as long as you have your chronicle sheets, you are good to go. The chronicle sheets are the "offical record".

I have a session where I have a couple of "blank" players reported (I think I stopped partway through reporting to confirm up a faction of a new player, and then put him on a different line) - anyway,I tried "fixing" things by putting all the extra player slots' to blank, but the blanks still show up in my sessions. Doesn't really matter I suppose, unless it matters to Paizo.

I ran a couple sessions a few weeks ago for our local head GM, and gave him the attendance sheet to record, though I dont think he has done so yet. He is also the one who created the event online, but id like to get the events reported.
Can I report the event, even though he created it?
Only the account that creates an event can report under that event number. Nothing prevents you from creating a duplicate event under a different event code and reporting the tables, though this could present problems if/when he gets around to reporting the sessions himself. Were you the only GM at the event, or did you merely run a few tables among several other GMs?
My advice would be to contact him and nudge him to report them, and then report the tables yourself under a ghost event code if he hasn't responded or reported after a week or so.

He was present for the second scanario and set them up on hiw wife's ipad from the store we played in, as I havent ever set one up, and assumed he was going to do it.
Anyway, he was there, but only as a player, as he wasnt sure if he would be able to attend that day at all, so I was running the mods, and no, I was the only GM.
I'll make sure to nudge him along. Thanks for the reply!

A question, how, and can one organize a PFSOP event outside of US and does it have to be in a paizo supported gaming club?
Hi Hama. Missed this earlier.
You can definitely run things anywhere in the world. PFS has Venture-Captains in Canada (me), Australia, the UK, Netherlands, and Denmark. (Did I forget any of we non-Americans?)
I have run games at conventions, in stores, at home, at other people's homes....
All of the steps in the first post work outside the US, but just make sure that you enter the date "American fashion" when creating an event.
First, you should check out the Guide to Organized Play. The stickied threads on these boards may be helpful, as well as the threads started by Painlord.
All you really need is a place to play, your game stuff, a GM and 4-6 players, and a scenario, and you're good to go!

Hi one question, can i buy a pathfinder scenario from Paizo.com store to do a Public Pathfinder Society Event as a GM or can i do as a GM in a Pathfinder Society public Event with a pathfinder scenario of a friend?
i put his paizo id number?
Thanks for help.
Ok, I am not sure I understand the question..
Anyone can buy the scenario, have no clue what you are trying to say in the second part.
|
When you buy the scenario it is yours to run as a public event or as a private event with your friends at your home. You can buy the scenario yourself, or you can send it to a friend as a gift as long as it is done through the Paizo Store. Please don't share the PDF file with your friends.
If your friend is going to be the GM and you will be a player, you still can buy it, download it and print it. Just try not to look at it or else it won't be as exciting. Like I said before, you can always send it to your friend as a gift as long as your friend has a Paizo account. Just make sure the 'gift option' box is clicked. Then he will get an e-mail from Paizo letting him know the scenario is ready for him on his Downloads page on paizo.com.
You may create and report Events even if you are not the GM. You will need the GM's Pathfinder Society membership number when you go to report the event. You won't need any PFS ID #s to create the Event, just to report it afterward. You will also need to have the other players' information. When an Event is created, the website also makes a "session tracking sheet" for that specific event which you may use to collect the needed information so it is not lost.
I hope that helped to answer your question :)

In addition to the previous:
You can buy a Pathfinder Society Scenario yourself to run as the GM.You can run a Pathfinder Society Scenario provided to you, as a printed document only, that someone else bought.
For reporting:
Whoever GMs the game can be reported as the GM, even if someone else setup the game on Paizo's web site.
To report the game, the organizer will need teh GM's Pathfinder Society number, along with the Pathfinder SOciety numbers, including character number, for each player in the game.
As part of the reporting process, the organizer will also need to know the faction and PA earned by each PC.
And, if the GM is taking his one GM credit for running the scenario, the organizer will need the GM's character number, faction, and PA earned to report.

Sorry if this question has already been answered, but I don't see it addressed in the main post.
I'm brand-new to PFS, and I was pretty disorganized and may have given the wrong ID # to my GMs. :(
I currently have no sessions recorded online with my registered character. I still have my Chronicle sheets, however. How can I make sure that my sessions get recorded?

Best way, ,if possible, is to contact the GMs. They can go in and edit the list to correct yoru ID to the correct one.
If, for some reason, you cannot contact the GMs, singular or several, is to contact customer support, and let them know the information, including he GM number(s), and they should be able to start the process going.

I tried to look for this elsewhere but with no success.
Am I to include my own character as well to recieve the GM Reward? For now I haven't done so, but would like to know if there's some way of digitally certifying my GM reward.
If I understand the question correctly:
When reporting yourself as the GM for an event, you enter your PFS ID (without the character number -1, -2, -3, etc) on the very top of the form. If you are claiming that credit to one of your characters then yes, in addition to the players who played which you list each in turn, you add your character (PFS ID-1, -2 or whatever) to the same session report.
On my Chronicles I also write 'Session GM' where the day job roll goes.

This was what I was looking for. Thanks!
PS: Oh, shouldn't there be a button next to "Character died" that would say "GM Reward"? Would avoid some confusion in the future.

I don't think that would help me, personally. But I'm not going to hold up this layout as a masterpiece of design either. It's clunky and could be improved for sure, but not sure that a 'GM Reward' check box would be any less confusing.
To me what would make the most sense would be to group the GM Reward character reporting with at the top with the GM PFS ID section.

Adding your own character when GM'ing a scenario doesn't work in the report section. It marks that this character played the scenario already and cannot have PA from it.
Whoever now is in charge of this reporting tool, add a "GM Reward" button there below "Character died".
It only says that if the Character already Played it and Got Credit.
The GM credit has to go to a Character that has not gotten credit for playing it already.

This should be mentioned in the guide. I didn't find anything about this.

Try pages 18 and 32 of the Guide?

Try pages 18 and 32 of the Guide?
Page 32 is an ad for Inner Sea World Guide.
Page 18 does clear things up though. I was constantly trying to look for answers from pages 29 and 30.
"If you GM a scenario, you earn 1 credit that can be applied to any character that hasn’t played through the scenario."

Ha! Oops. I guess that's what I get for posting while having my coffee. :) Yeah page 30.

We've got 3 GMs all running a Chicago-based Windy City Pathfinder Society, the above makes reporting annoying, as the purist in us wants them all to be part of the same event. Feature request for the dev's backlog :-)
