I think I've found mine.

*blink*

Very thoughtful choice.

Speaking of classical choices, I've always thought Max Bruch's 3rd Symphony reflects my personality well, in both its serious and light-hearted moments.

This speaks to me at some dark times.

Our emotions can waver from time to time, that's a given. The object is to choose a song that rightfully speaks to the core of your being.

This song does define my core being... as I approach my middle age crisis! :)

Liberty's Edge

I remember exactly the first time I heard that piece by Wagner. I was 8 years old; it spoke to me then, and defines me to this day.

It's also the second greatest work of classical music, ever (IMHO).

Awesome! This is definitely make-you-smile music! Wonderful choice.

This one always makes me shiver

Sorry, but I could not find a good translation...

The main message is: "For the one(s) I love I will always be there, no matter what, no matter how much time passed since the last time we were together". Later it says: "I forget why we are apart... Please come back with the wind, because I miss you."

It may sound lame, but it is usually my state of mind. I cannot say "no" to a friend, a family member or loved one in need. And the Saudade for the ones that are far away... It is a very Portuguese thing...

Please, check one of the clips. Teresa Salgueiro is simply one of the most beautiful voices in Portugal.

Fade to Black

That song got me through some rough days.

Shadow Lodge

Sometimes, it's this one.

More recently though, while being sentimental, this one rings true for me.

Lyrics:

Spoiler:

My love for you is like a truck, Berserker
Would you like some making f+$*, Berserker
My love for you is like a rock, Berserker

The Berserker is just so obscene
Likes evil people you know what I mean
He takes your soul and then just rips you apart
He'll steal your heart

Would you like to smoke some pot, Berserker
My love for you is ticking clock, Berserker
Would you like to suck my cock, Berserker
would you like some making f&~!, Berserker

That's what I thought. As much as I like some really dark music, I'm just not a dark person. (Maybe that's the reason why I actually like such brooding music - it takes me to places I tend not to go on my own.) Hence my choice of this symphony - there are times where I'm convinced Bruch is actually cracking musical jokes, and I love it.

Beethoven's Seventh. I laugh, I cry, I live, I love.

That's sounds a lot like: VERB! That's What's Happenin' from Schoolhouse Rock.

I'm not sure this defines me so much as it's my personal theme. A subtle difference, to be sure.

I believe it was Taig who suggested I Can Ride My Bike With No Handlebars. That, and Get Through The Dark from the Rockman X/Megaman X Arrange Soundtrack by Alph-Lyla

[EDIT] Many of my female friends insist "Just a Gigolo" was written for me. Why, I have no idea. ;-)

I totally feel you on this, ESPECIALLY Story of My Life.

Social D was once one of my favorite bands. Not really into the new stuff, but it's not necessarily bad.

Bouncing Souls - "True Believers"

One of my all-time favorites. Here's another good one.

For all of the Social D fans out there: have you ever checked out The Stay Gones?

Liberty's Edge

Two more for me:

Rollins Band - "What Have I Got"

Brand New - "Millstone"

I find this exercise very challenging.

Paschendale (orchestral version)

Black Sabbath - Neon Knights

Iron Maiden - The Trooper

I just had to include this version too.

PT2-The Trooper(The Hand Of Doom Orchestra)

I'm ambiguous about including this one.

Reducing to one only is extremely limitating, but I think at present it should be I Am The Wooden Doors.

Lyrics:

When all is withered and torn
And all has perished and fallen
These great wooden doors shall remain closed

When the heart is a grave filled with blood
And the soul is a cold and haunted shell of lost hope
When the voice of pride has been silenced
And dignity's fires are but cinders
their grandeur shall remain untainted

It is this grandeur that protects the spirit within
From the plight of this broken world, from the wounds in her song
I wish to die with my will and spirit intact
The will that inspired me to write these words
Seek not the fallen to unlock these wooden doors

Liberty's Edge

This has been me for the last six months or so.

Donna's stroke put her in a coma on that day, I lost her a little over a week later.

I'm pretty sure something by Emilie Autumn.

Either "Willow" or "What If"
