Just for the record, I liked 3rd edition Shadar-kai. The emo "no one understands us so we'll be terminally unique" Shadar-kai are the 4E revision...
Never looked at the 4e version, but the orginal 3e conception, to me, was way more goth-emo than I could stand. "Ooh, I'm so angsty I take damage just from living here -- I don't even have to go through the effort of cutting myself!" Ugh.

Perhaps there are more of us than I realized?
I don't know about that, but since you're here, I have to mention that I am a big fan of Sapkowski's the Witcher series. Would you have any other similar authors to recommend (translated into English or French) in the same vein ?

Perhaps the greatest author of Slav-inspired fantasy is Maria Semyonova. Sapkowski kinda mixes Slav mythology with Tolkien-like approach and modern Russian fantasy writers are basically clones of American-style trash fantasy. The best work of Slav authors, ironically, is in SF and darker side of fantasy. Bulgakov and Strugatsky Brothers are examples of famous Russian authors (first one is one of the great 20 century writers. His Master and Margarita is the master piece of dark fantasy - Strugatskys are masters of SF), Stanislaw Lem is the great Polish author and very important writer on the world's SF scene, late Milorad Pavic is one of the most well known Serbian writers and very well respected in the circles of serious literature for his dark fantasy themed novels and Zoran Zivkovic recently won World Fantasy Award against Neil Gaiman. Zivkovic writes kinda philophical SF, mostly. There are some others.

I have to second this. Urrgh *shudder* I have NIGHTMARES about those harridans!
And let me add my own "Me too!" vote for a 'Classic Fey Revisited'. And as for the Slavic fey... maybe we could get them for an adventure path/sourcebook set in Irrisen?

1: Kraken
2: Medusa/Gorgon
3: Centaur
4: Basilisk
5: Lamia
6: Hydra
7: Couatl
8: Chimera
9: Sphinx
10: Harpy
yes yes please

As one of the few Slavs here on this board, I would like to suggest some of Slav faerie creatures: domovoi, rusalka, vodianoi, leshi.
Aren't vodianoi/vodyanoi the name for aquatic umber hulks?
Oops, Umber Hulks (though not Vodyanoi the name obviously) are IP/PI of Wizards, and not open content.

And then, for me: Classic Cryptids Revisited
1: Yeti/Sasquatch
2: Sea Serpent
3: Mothman
4: Chupecabra
5: Death Worm
6: Sandpoint Devil
7: Hodag
8: Thunderbird
9: Globster
10: Water Orm
Great list, and I'd love to see this book. But you'd need to include weird little bits like how smoking dried Yeti dung can bring Enlightenment (I swear I'm not making that one up, it's a real world legend) and how Mothman is being hunted by the Men in Black and whatnot.
But how the heck could you do a Globster? Isn't it basically just a big, lifeless, well, glob?

This is one I would love to see and would be my favorite of the Monster revisited series. Only one I would like to see replaced is the Couatl but a superb list.

Just out of curiosity, MerrikCale, I have to ask: did you have any particular ones of those monsters in mind, when you said "You HAVE to do this. You HAVE to"? I'm guessing that you didn't feel Paizo HAD to revisit the centaur, basilisk, lamia, or gorgon, because I'm not aware that Paizo is doing those yet.
