What a great day, I didn't have to do a thing. Hubby fixed breakfast, lunch and our dinner. He took care of the kids and a lil cleaning up. All I did was enjoy coffee and dessert! The kids behaved wonderfully. Tuesday we are going to dinner and to see IM2. :)
I hope that all the Mom's in your lives had good days.
Taig, I am sorry your wife wasn't feeling well, I hope she feels better soon and that you guys are able to enjoy a night out. *hugs*We are thinking about menus and all for while you guys are here. Does everyone coming enjoy red meat? Green peppers? Onions? We were thinking of grilling out kabobs? And drinks? Soda? Beer? Anything specific? I was thinking that maybe we could grill out early on Sat, and then game or go out that night. I have Sat and Sun off to spend with you all.
Red meat, yes. Onions and peppers, no. In a kabob deal, though, I can just skip those.
As far as drinks go, I'm good with just about anything, as long as it's not diet. I can drink water, too.
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone in person.

Do you have a Wal-mart and/or grocery store nearby? There will be a couple of items I intend to want to acquire.
For me... onions are a hit / miss. But don't worry about what I will or will not eat. I'm just a freak of nature. :D
I do want to give a heads up that I may step away for a couple of hours on a Sunday as I have a friend that lives about two hours south in Mt. Pleasant and I haven't seen her in over 12 - 13 years since she moved. Told her I'd find a way to get in touch while I was in the vicinity.

Gooooooooooood morning Fawlty Towers!! And a belated Mother's Day to all our thread moms. I hope everyone had a happy one, either with mom or remembering her. I had to do both, as my wife's mom passed away(and Mother's Day is her birthday to boot), so we went to Red Lobster to celebrate and remember after I delivered a nice azalea to my mom and sat and watched TV with her for a bit and groused at each other.
The weekend was full of work and other gainful activity. The Friday shift was AMAZING, but I'm a little worried as I had to write the report. I've never written a report for that kind of shift before, so I may have made a mistake due to my inexperience. I hate it when that happens, but we'll see what's said at the next meeting. Also, I've started walking home from the train station instead of waiting for the bus for that little extra burst of exercise, and it feels just as good as walking to the day job everyday does.
On the bright side, I've discovered my distractionary task- writing L5R homebrew stuff! I dont' think I'll be posting it here(the L5R boards are better for that), but it's really helped to clear my head and give me a break from Freehold stuff. Overall, my mind feels clearer.
Well, this hasn't been much of a rant, but that's about it, actually. Life is pretty much okay, and although part of me is waiting for the other kharmic shoe to drop, I've decided to drink deeply from the cup life offers me rather that worry overmuch if God's decided to spit in it today. What lies ahead for everyone else?
P.S. Hey Taig, Urizen! waves cheerfully

Sounds good, Freehold!
Mother's Day went OK. We drove out to Raleigh to pick up my son, and my wife didn't feel great, so we didn't go to the movies like we had planned. We postponed to tomorrow, after my face-to-face interview in Charlotte is done and I drive back home.

No, common mistake. She's actually a highly paid assassin.

Actually, I checked the rules, and I can't give too much information on where I was or the type of place I was at because it's TOO specific(it's not like a bar, of which there are thousands) and people might be able to infer who I am(or more importantly, who I work for), and a level of anonymity would be lost regarding that type of survey. Suffice it to say it was an excellent shift in a place I'd never been in before.
Also, a hilarious exchange between the wife and myself this weekend...
Her(from the kitchen): What are you doing?
Me(from the bathroom): Reading Kingmaker....it's a really interesting adventure path.
Her: You're reading Kittymaker?
Me(exasperated): Yes, Dara. I'm reading Kittymaker. It's an adventure path about a necromancer who goes around making undead kittens for children to play with. It's a heartwarming tale.
Her(pause, then): Well, he doesn't sound like an evil necromancer at all! He obviously didn't pay attention in necromancy school!

Ah well. I'll just wait for the incriminating / compromising pictures to surface on the web. They do. They always do.

Sorry if I missed anything important over the weekend.
It must have been too long for me as well -- but the site isn't even telling me how many posts I've missed. Either too many to count or too long ago to care. Either way, hope that the mothers here had a really good day yesterday.

(Un)fortunately (?) mine is. Otherwise if something occurs in a thread of 400+ consecutive posts and I didn't contribute, it's like someone puts up an all-points-bulletin amber alert as to my whereabouts. It's like people think I have no life and just camp here for hours on end.
On second thought, don't answer that. ;)

PS They still might be doomed, no matter what.
The sad thing? It's probably the multi-choice that will do them in before they even get to the free form essay.
Idiocracy is at hand.
I think it's more the other way around, but that's just me. Multiple choice has saved my bacon on several occasions, provided I didn't need to show my work(shakes an angry fist at math).

Supposedly, there won't be any actual streaming of video where we work, except for testing purposes.
I can just imagine how that explanation will go over with my wife.

No just a friends and family discount. It is streaming after all.

Morning all! What did I miss?
Edit: Ooh! TotP!
Well, many people gave their mother's cards from Hallmark for Mother's Day, not realizing they were furthering the spread of the company's insidious, mind-controlling nanites. Meanwhile, CJ once again was plagued by the nightmare of being attacked by vampiric poodles, with nothing to defend himself except a giant safety-pin. He woke from the dream feeling tired and with a sore leg. And, on the other side of town, while visiting the mall to purchase a new garbage disposal, Scott and Sarah were attacked by a herd of vicious kang....No, wait! That's my soap opera.

Say, did anyone here ever play Deadlands? If so, what is the RPG I'm getting it confused with that's fantasy in the wild west, not corpses in the wild west?
I read through the main book. It's interesting, a sort of "Brisco County Jr." meets "Evil Dead" setting, just to throw some Bruce Campbell references in there.
You might be thinking of Dogs in the Vineyard.

I guess you're thinking of this? I have it around the house somewhere. Good to lift ideas from. Not a bad price for a used copy, I must admit.

That's a damn cool game, but no...this was a game with half-elves and everything. Not the d20 thin book that was put out a while back(Lordy, do I miss those!), but the world that was based on I believe...

No, but that's the book I was referencing in the above post- It was a damn good small little game, but it got an old friend of mine I haven't seen in years up in arms, and he referenced this OTHER game that I saw at my FLGS recently(note: recently= 1/2 a year ago, maybe more).
