Solnes seems to enjoy it, so it can't be all that bad.

Afternoon to all.

I hope the forums ae back in shape.

The upper management decided to congratulate ua on skating through an audit from the outside with no findings. So, our boss's (sp?) boss fixed lunch for us: hot dogs with fresh onions and relish and mustards (place the condiments on yourself), chips, homemade baked beans, and a celebration cake. Not much, but it was a refreshing change and really hit the spot.

That was nice of your boss's's boss.

I just don't think I can do that...

Pork sausages and mashed potatoes with mustard for the former and onion gravy for the latter. Also, some cabbage, celery, and carrots, as this is an Irish pub. English pub would have skipped the latter.

And it would have tasted awful. :)

Just got back from a performance of The Wizard of Oz at my son's high school. He's playing trombone in the orchestra. The play was delightful.

Very cool, I can't wait to see one of my runts doing things like this.

Meh, all you missed were some dumb posts from a badger. I mean, really, can badgers even type?

One of the things I promised myself as a parent was to be very involved in my kids' activities. So I make sure I go to every game, concert, performance, etc. that I can.

Of course they can. They can also surf the net for Powergirl Pr0n, why do you think they claw your face off when you stick your nose down a burrow.

I am. I'm tired as all hell, running on pretty much no sleep the last 48 hours, but I'm in a good mood. :)

How are you doing buddy?

I'm doing pretty well, all things considered.

rambly stuff:
My mom doesn't want me to visit this weekend, because she doesn't want me to see her the way she is. Given how quickly her condition is deteriorating, this looks the last good weekend I'll have to visit her. I called yesterday to pay for the cremation at the funeral home. My aunt has been doing a remarkable job at managing things over there.

I fired my resume off in 8 different directions, and, as expected, my skill set is nowhere near what prospective employers want. I'm gonna start looking into online classes to at least get the academic-level knowledge and hope general experience counts for something. Meanwhile, where I work, rather than telling our customers we're making mistakes, we're coming up with "creative explanations" (not lying, oh no) for issues.

Damn. It's rough, I wish the best for you.

Spoiler:
Do you think she'd be too upset if you visited anyway? I both regret and cherish every moment I spent with my father at the end. So I understand how hard this can be. I was with him when he went, I'm still not sure if I'm glad for that or not.

Uh oh, that sounds disturbingly familiar. {vision shimmers, starts having a flashback}

...

Still thinking positive thoughts for you and your sett, Badgerman :)

Spoiler:
She won't be upset if I visit her. I talked to her earlier this afternoon, and while she sometimes talks in gibberish, she got the idea that I was coming to visit. She seemed happy with the idea. Mostly she's sad, not angry, that her family has to see her the way she is.

Unfortunately, she's still adamant about not seeing either one of my sisters. :S

Thank you kindly, Amby. :)

I take it you've had a similar work experience. My favorite part of that was when my boss's boss, the one who wanted the "creative explanation", made sure I was on the same page once she settled on one she liked, just in case I got a call from the customer.

Yeah, 5+ years of it... after the first couple years, the daily Dilbert made me want to cry instead of laugh.

Yeah, because clearly the cabbage is where all the flavor comes from...

What's up, badger man?

EDIT: Rough news. Just my two cents: Don't miss any opportunity. You don't what the guilt, even if its irrational guilt, that can latch onto things like that once she's gone.

I'm floating around cyberspace as well....supposed to be supervised by the greenman so I stay out of trouble. :P

Ah...dude. I told the mutt to watch you. He wasn't with you while I napped?

Anybody ever hear of:
4e being called the New Coke of RPGing?

No, 'cause Coke eventually wised up and brought the original back.

That's a first. Did you see it elsewhere or are you launching that meme? Heh.

I saw that according to one industry watcher, Pathfinder is now the second largest RPG out there, with only 4e ahead of it. WOW.

I thought of it after reading the New Coke thread. But I sure as hell wasn't going to say it.

Hmmm, so it's like Coke came out with New Coke, and some small dedicated micro-bottler/brewery got the recipe for Coke Classic for free... and then came up with an even tastier, more addictive version of it?

What now... are they remixing the Hitler clips from Downfall to "investigate" the prophecies of Nostradamus?
