OK so I am sure no one actually missed me, but I was one of those who left Paizo for 4th Ed D&D. I stopped my subscriptions and wished Paizo well, but I was supporting 4E and couldn't afford to support 2 games. But I didn't completely turn away and when the Pathfinder RPG was released and the PDF was only $10, I was intrigued enough to pick it up to review. I liked what I read, in fact I liked it enough to want a hard copy and place an order with Amazon.ca. Of course they didn't have enough so I waited for the 2nd printing. All the while still playing 4E and growing more and more dissatisfied with it as the months went by. Don't get me wrong 4E is a great game but I grew up with AD&D in all of its versions and I found that with 4E the key things I really liked about D&D were muted or diminished.
Then my Pathfinder RPG book finally arrived and I devoured it. Then my gaming group wanted to try Pathfinder and so we did. Now they keep asking when is the next Pathfinder session and are no longer asking for 4E.
Today I renewed some of my subscriptions I had before I left and will add a few more soon (the next Adventure Path for one).
All I can say is I am back and things at Paizo have never looked better. Only thing that would be better is a significant sale (and I do mean significant) on PDFs so I can get fully caught up. It's a wish :)
See you on the boards...

Nice! Welcome back!
There was a huge PDF sale, btw. You missed it. That seems like a suitable punishment for your transgressions.
I like to think the edition war arguments have died down. There have been some threads kicking up recently, but things were honestly quiet for a little while. So for my part, I'm glad whenever anyone finds a game they really like, no matter which it is.

It's like losing someone in battle only to have them finally, months later, come crawling back into camp after sloughing through hell*. Welcome back brother.
*Fake Healer was never in a 'camp', unless Camp Merrywood summer camp counts, or any type of armed forces so his perception of this nature is purely based on conjecture and old war movies...[/disclaimer]

Welcome Back! I suggest checking out the new classes presented in the advanced players guide playtest section. I especially like the witch.
I almost went through a similar experience. When 4E was just being released, my awesome girlfriend printed and handbound a copy of the MM. (The monster books have always been my favorite.) After reading through it a little, I could have sworn I was reading the instruction booklet for a video game. When I checked out the players handbook, I had the same impression. I couldn't get into the new races, and missed the classic classes. I have been playing for about 25 years, and hardly recognized 4E as the same system. Pathfinder- yeah, that's the game I enjoyed all those years.

*Puts the theme from "Welcome back, Cotter" on the turntable.*
For those of you born after 1980 - this was a sitcom about a misfit student who returned later to his old high school as a teacher - of a class full of misfit students. Best known for launching the career of John Travolta.
Lyrics for the 70's impaired:
Welcome Back.
Your dreams were your ticket out.
Welcome Back.
To that same old place that you laughed about.
Well, the names have all changed since you hung around,
But those dreams have remained and they've turned around.
Who'd a thought they'd lead ya?
Who'd a thought they'd lead ya?
Back here where we need ya?
Back here where we need ya?
Yeah, we tease him a lot ‘cause we've got him on the spot. Welcome Back.
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

Not sure what possessed me to dig this up. Too many youngsters giving me blank stares when I mention something that happened more than 20 years ago...

Hi!
Long time listener first time caller =)
+2. I remember Horshak and Barbarino and all that nonsense. Who'da' thunk John Travolta would become so successful? XD

Welcome back Pravus, and don't forget to vote in this year's Round 2 of RPG Superstar. (Although it may be too late already if you pick this message up after late Monday, Seattle time.)
And congratulations to you Capsule23 on your first post on the Paizo boards. The road to Heathansson is paved with good intentions. Or, uh, something like that.

Don't think of it as old - think of it as having more experience, and consequently a higher level than those first level whippersnappers.
Nah, you're still 80-years-olds commoners-1s :P.

Ooof. Ditto on the feeling old sentiment. But I'm so old, I think I'm starting to take penalties on my STR and DEX stats.
