"Who else, indeed," the nobleman replies, with a raised eyebrow to the gnomes potentially evasive reply.

"I hope you won't be offended if I read this, before signing?" he continues, holding out his hand to take a closer look at the contract.

Lucien:
You are bound by spell and oath to Asmodeus not to betray your employer to his enemies, yourself or anyone else.

aaand, we're back.

Greehr's head hurt something awful. Something about the drink, he tries to assume, but thinking anything more than 'Crap. My head hurts' is met by a glowering sort of pain that seemed to radiate from his head to his extremities. His mind struggles to recapture the events of last night, remembering the revelry, but only a blur over where the hedonism was supposed to be, thankfully or not.

Now the small gnome thrusting the parchment and pen towards him was getting to his already frayed nerves. In fact if it weren't for the trolls and the lack of weapons on his person, the gnome would have already been shanked. Several times.

Still, he got the gist of what he was supposed to do, which was to sign the contract. Seeing his 'compatriots' looking through their contracts with some scrutiny, he decided to let one of them sign first.

Just in case.

Lucien:
If the employer cheats you or lies to you directly, than he is in a breach of contract and the deal is null and void. This is standard Kaledun contract.

lucien reads the contract and then signs it

Feldus could remember a time when he felt worse than what he felt right now, but it was a long time ago, a lifetime apart. Now he could say 'we have a winner'. Something was in the drink which overwhelmed his senses, and he really was not used to such fare. Seemed like a reasonable explanation, and he hoped it was correct.

Now he is here trying to decipher a contract where the words kept swimming to gether. Seeing the other members of the group sign the contract, he knows no signature, no pay. But he reads the contract just in case anyway.

Nighflier, anything unusual about the contract? If no, then he will sign it.

Standard mage contract used to ensure that both sides stick to the agreement.

Feldus looks it over and signs it with his blood.

"This better be worth it." Werdred takes a quick look over the contract before pricking his finger and signing it with his blood.

"Yes, yes, standard rates apply. Follow me, then", says the gnome and rushes towards one barge tied to the dock. "Your employer awaits there. Now, I'll be off. Good luck in your ventures!"

Watching the others sign the contract, with little immediate effects, greehr decides to follow suit, and signed the contract with his blood.

Feldus sees the gmone head off, and then waits for the nobleman to take the lead, gauging his competence in this manner.

Hope this isn't a bad idea...

Gusztáv nods politely to the gnome as he heads off, then looks between the barge his companions, then speaks wistfully, "Well, I had rather hoped to stay on dry ground for a little longer than this. No matter though."

Striding boldly onto the barge, he moves over to the door and knocks...

Subscribing to the theory you should never be first or last in the group, Feldus follows the nobleman onto the barge.

Male Human Warrior 4, Fighter 1/Barbarian 1

Werdred soon follows the other two, scowling.

A hand still holding his aching head protectively, Greehr trails after the group, muttering to himself. It helps with the pain.

Although the barge seems shabby and rundown, interior of the cabin is well decorated with expensive furniture and thick rugs from the Sultanate. At the desk in front of the door sits a man dressed in elegant black suit with lots of white lace at the cuffs and huge golden ring on the first finder of his right hand. "Welcome", he says. "You must be my new employees. We will depart the port presently. Then you will be assigned to your posts."

"Ahh, a sea voyage, how fun." Feldus says without much enthusiasm. "So are we gonna be crew on your vessel, or just guards?"

Male Human Warrior 4, Fighter 1/Barbarian 1

"You better not have hired us just to get cheap sailors." Werdred scowls, mainly because he's wearing thirty pounds of iron at the moment.

Dark Archive

"Do not be rude, that will gain you nothing. I need you to guard the merchandise, not to play sailors. Now, we will wait for twilight to set sail, and I want you to get to know the barge. I expect that some busybody will try to board us as soon as we live Kaledun's vicinity. Prepare yourself. Igor here will help you in any way you need." A deformed hunchback steps out of shadows and says "Yesth, Masther. As you comandth, masther."

"Busybody eh? seems pretty general to me. Any more details would be helpful, that is , to prepare against the pirates."

"Very well," Gusztáv says to the well dressed man, looking around the barge and studiously averting his gaze from the unpleasant looking servant, "where is the merchandise stored?"

Glancing down to the golden ring while awaiting a response to his question, the nobleman looks for any insignia on display.

Gusztáv:
The insignia is golden hourglass on a onyx field. You are aware that it is a sign of one of the secret societies Kaledun is infamous for, but not exactly which one. But you have strong gut feeling that said society is in some way connected to vampiric court.

Feldus leans into Sir Gustav, and whispers: "Any idea who these guys are, or what cargo we is defending?

"And this would be the only entrance?" The foreign knight asks Igor, "it would be unfortunate should someone bypass our post... are we to enter if we hear signs of trouble within?"

Recoiling slightly with a cringe as Feldus leans close, Gusztáv brings up a handkerchief to cover his nose, and coincidentally, his mouth, before whispering back, "I cannot say for sure, though I suspect that this cargo might be... well, alive is not the precise word I would choose... I daresay we may be dealing with the undead."

Feldus leans back, and looks back at the barred entrance. He, he he don't like me very much Yeah, good to know, would explain the wards, probably warded against both living and undead. Lethal too, he he.

He looks back at the nobleman, and says Wonder who theese guys made enemies of. Betcha we'll find out soon.

He then bursts out in a loud cackle.

As the foul breathed man leans away, Gusztáv's face relaxes somewhat, but the handkerchief remains... perhaps to ward off a lingering smell. "No doubt," he whispers in response, "though we should hold off on further speculation for now, it wouldn't do to offend our host... clearly they do not want anyone to know of the nature of their cargo, and I doubt they are averse to... reducing the number of those who do happen to find out."

Nightflier:
Knowledge(religion) 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15, is that enough to know about vampires needing to be carried across water in their coffins?

Gusztáv:
You know that some of the vampires can not cross running water, but you also know that the Kaledun is birth place of vampires in this world and there are many bloodlines with different abilities and weaknesses.

"This isth the only enthrance, serth." Hunchback than turns to Werderd. "You would be surprisedh how many thried to rob the Masther when they were supposedh tho guardh his cargo."

Really, Igor? Maybe its time for the grand tour and you can tell us more about all the wonderful ways to get on this floating garbage heap!

"Yeah." Greehr agrees. "Nice to get a feel of the barge before we leave Kaledun."

Feldus stares at the hunchback after that reply, trying to decide if tossing this cretin overboard would violate his contract. Reluctantly realizing he would be missed, most likely, by his employer, he just looks at him and replies, "So, we are to stand here like golems eh? I take it that means there are other guards on this...vessel?"

Feldus shoots a venomous glare at the hunchback. Wait, let me guess. You're not gonna tell us who these guards are right? Because that would make way too much sense, especially for you.

Greehr frowns at the mention of sleeping on deck. Not that he minds. "A lot of things we can't do, I notice." He mutters, just loud enough to be audible. "There will be something to eat along the way, right?"

Guys, you were supposed to be attacked by the group from the other game, but that game is dead now. This means that this game is defunct as well, since I intended to pit you against the "good guys", and not just now, but during the whole game. I'm sorry this ended before it really began. I'm gonna create new game, probably something sci-fi or postapocalyptical. You and the guys from the first game have advantage if you decide you want to try another game with me. The limit will be ten players.

I'll keep watch for the new game. Haha. A shame Greehr never had his day in battle.

Here. is the recruitment thread for new game.
