Eidolon / Astral Construct?

Round 2: Summoner and Witch

I'm not bashing the concept... I'm highly impressed by the idea in fact! Yet, as I said in the title, does the Eidolon seem to have some resemblance to the astral contruct?

Evolution choices from menu options 1point, 2point, etc...

VS.

Construct choices from Menu A, Menu B, etc...

Complete Psionic opened up various base forms of the Astral Contruct with a series of feats and reduced the amounts of constructs summoned to 1 at a time.

Interesting...

So? I am pleased with it, since it is exactly what I asked for in the Summoner thread :P

Hey, if it was a good rule concept then it's a good rule concept now; it's just been recasted in a different way so there's no funny business about what's OGL and what's not and who claims what... whatever... we just operationalize the same basic idea in a new way, and it's still cool!

Heh... no problems... just enjoying the comparison. The Summoner is what a specialist psionist that focused on astral constructs should have been.

It does give me some food for thought is all.

I'm seeing some issues mentioned around the various threads that mimic some of the issues that came up in a pre-complete psionics game we had. My brother spammed a bunch of astral contructs and used them to dogpile and take down a stone golem.

Good times...

I'm just seeing some of the same "Nova" issues with the Summoner summons.

As above ... no problems ... just thinking that some lessons might be taken from what caused the changes to the psionist and his astral contruct.

I noticed that too, and its one of the reasons why I like it.

Same here.

Just need to make sure the Nova issue does not become a serious problem for his summons.

A Summoner still has his Eidolon and other spellcasting to fall back on.

However a psionist would only spam a bunch of astral contructs and "blow his load" as it were and have near nothing left.

And apparently the Psionisist was "overpowered" enough that they made it so he could only summon ONE astral construct with the Complete Psionics revisions.

What does this speak as a lesson for the Summoner? I'll let everyone decide that for themselves.
