Trailer out now.
I think this looks really good. A fun action packed fantasy movie, makes me want to hunt down the old stories by Robert E Howard to read up on the character.

This looks pretty damn sweet. I loved the REH stories, read them recently when they put out an omnibus trade reprint. Solomon Kane's actor did Marc Antony in Rome as well? Double sweet! Any idea when this drops in theaters?

SWEEEEEEEET
I SO say they totally stole the Hat from Kane for the Jackman "Van Helsing" flick.
This looks totally B@D@$$!!!!!
I am very gleefull/hopefull for how this "subgenre" of Gothic Pulp has been developing (Constantine, Hellboy 1 & 2, now Solomon Kane).
Now if only they could resurrect/revive the Elric Movie from preproduction hell and do it right ...
Meanwhile, Long Live Solomon Kane!!!
"I am not yet Ready for Hell ...".

Saw this tonight, with the director (Michael Bassett) doing a Q&A afterwards. A few thoughts:
It is not an adaptation of a Howard tale, rather it is a origin story using elements hinted at in other stories. The producers of the film wanted an origin story as they didn't feel that jumping right into one of Howard's stories would help with mass acceptance.
Although the Solomon Kane in the movie isn't entirely the Solomon Kane of the stories, by the end of the movie, the character's arc is such that he could roll right into any of Howard's stories and transition well. If given the opportunity, the director would like to do one of the stories set in Africa, particularly so he can give Kane his JuJu stick.
The movie is played pretty straight, with absolutely no camp. Without the supernatural elements in the movie, it would play like a historical picture.
Acting was good across the board, although there were a few places were the script went a little cliche.
Effects were generally good with the exception of the big bit of CGI at the end, which was pretty crappy.
Fights were well staged with only one that had a lot of quick cuts that masked the action.

Nice I can't wait to see it. I'm planning on getting the omnibus asap. I'd love to see a serious remake of Conan done now with a good actor. With a story based on the actual official Conan mythos not the 'newer' ones .I could actually see Gerald Butler as Conan LOL.
Yeah, him or Vin Diesel.

Well the new Conan movie is currently set for release in 2011 and the rumored actor for the lead is Roland Kickinger (the body double for the T-800 in Terminator Salvation). I hope he can act, I've not seen anything else he's been in.
