i-o-ME-day or i-o-muh-DAY-uh?

Just what the subject says: How does one pronounce Iomedae? I have a paladin player who needs to know so he can preach of his goddess while smiting evil...

i-O-muh-die (In Latin, AE makes a long I sound)

the whole I-O-ME-Day is a pain to pronounce, doesn't flow and sounds like a teenager having a wet dream or something. Even if that is the official pronunciation I refuse to use such a dumb sounding name for a deity.

I always found eye-OH-meh-day to be the easiest way to say it, so that's what I've usually gone with.

I've fallen into a habit of reading unfamiliar words with the Latin letters representing pure, unstressed vowels, as in Japanese.

I read it as "ee-oh-meh-dah-eh".

It would rhyme with a Japanese reading of "Nanae".

I am getting a kick out of this thread because I created Iomedae and made up the word. It's weird to see how other people read what is admittedly a bit of a tongue twister. You say Caramon, I say Caramon. :)

I've been saying it like SKR but with a long "e" instead of "eye".

I also pronounce Irori "ih-ROH-ree" and Fandalandarra as "STUK-up ETH-no-sehn-trik @#$%@". How far off am I on those?

My first thought when seeing the gods and coming across Norgorber was that he was the God of comedy... an evil god should have changed his name to be taken seriously.

And lordy Zon-Kuthon okay I apologize now to the Germans here... but that name makes be think of a German singing a Zon (song) wearing his Kuthon (cool thong).

And I'll never be able to look Toe Rag in the eye again... never...

By the way I noticed at gaming this week that I pronounce Iomedae differently all through the night. Depends upon if I say it fast or slow, serious or to be funny, and if I am tired or not.
