Darnak is born and raised in Janderhoff. He ends up in Jalmeray. Will work on having his background up this weekend. Won't post it here but you can check it in his profile. Sorry for the hold up, the background work is the tough part for me. I have an easier time coming up with one while I'm running the character. I've got the gist of it I just need to get it typed in.

As for traits, it's a good question. I shall have to think on it. I'll be sure to offer this detail when character sheet creation goes into full swing.
Guys, I know we're in a bit of a holding pattern until the rules are available, but thanks for all the hard work you've put in on the backgrounds. This is looking to be a great group. I can't wait until we can get started!
I wanted to share this method for creating a character background with you all. I've used it twice, and so far it's come up with some pretty interesting stuff.
It uses a Harrow Deck. :)
1. Shuffle the deck.
2. Draw the top card from the deck and turn it over.
3. Draw the next card from the deck and place it in the correct position to the first one as though you were doing a Harrow Reading, but ignoring the symbol on the card, just the location.
Example
Card 1: The Mountain Man, is placed in the center position of the right column.
Card 2: The Marriage, is placed in the center position of the left column.
4. Continue drawing cards until all nine spaces are filled with appropriately symboled cards.
5. If you draw a card with a symbol which you already have placed, you must place the card over the previous one. The new card effectively replaces the old one.
6. Once the cards have all been spread, do a Harrowing for the character using the cards that have been spread out. The first column represents past influences, the middle column is a current situation, and right column represents possible futures for the character and how the character is currently developing.
Like I said, I've used this model twice, to amazing effect; I'm not sure if that was because of the luck of the draw, or what, but either way its interesting.
Past1. The Hidden Truth (Seeing past the obvious.)
Past2. The Locksmith (Keys of destiny.)
Past3. The Rakshasa (Dominance and control.)
In effect, this summarized my character concept. Divination, Destiny, and Dominance. A diviner doesn't use mind control spells, but she can subtly influence other people's decisions, including her own if she's not careful.
Current1. The Midwife (New life or information.)
Current2. The Peacock (Social change.)
Current3. The Idiot (Naivete and greed.)
This does represent the current crisis that Zalania is going through. The only thing worse than a diviner who wants to fleece people out of their money is a diviner who wants to take over politics, and who has the remarkable skill to do so. Also, what type of social changes would a diviner want to bring? Well, in order to be fed up with a liberal republic, you might as well try to replace it with something else. (Golden Anarchy, in Zalania's case, as naive and idiotic as it sounds.)
Future1. The Publican (Comraderie.)
Future2. The Rabbit Prince (Resourcefulness.)
Future3. The Lost (Loss of identity.)
Of course, Zalania won't be able to get much farther without working with other people and sharing her unique gifts of luck, fate, and destiny. Unfortunately for her, a talent for divination can play tricks with a person's mind. It becomes all too easy to lose a sense of self when eagerly absorbing information from beyond the five senses.
I did this again for my Paladin of Arazni. (Knight of the Phoenix)

Past3. The Avalanche (Unstoppable disaster.)
In this case, the upper left card actually had some religious symbolism, so I could easily see it as a declaration of religious power. In a way this confirmed my idea that Marcellius's divine powers may not come directly from the divine, but from within, or perhaps (as the other cards seem to indicate), from an ancient bond between his family and Arazni. A pact that could not be broken even after her death (the unstoppable disaster), or her raising as a lich to become the Harlot Queen.
Current1. The Theater (Prophecy.)
Current2. The Bear (Brute strength.)
Current3. The Mute Hag (Blood pacts.)
In this case, I felt that the 1 and 3 could easily be bound together. An ancient prophecy was whispered against his household, sometime before the Death of Aroden, that the most venerated of the House of Voralion would make deals with devils. (Many royal families now do, but that's beside the point. The prophecy did come true.) Since Marcellius is only 1st level, I felt that the brute strength indicated a desperate struggle for independence from the evils of his once holy family, while also representing the strength within to resist the evil his family so eagerly accepted.

Future3. The Cyclone (Evil plots.)
As with Zalania, Marcellius will have to work with others to embrace the fact that though he is spiritually and physically strong, he is still capable of being weakened by other forces. Agents of evil are everywhere, so it is no great difficulty for Marcellius to see evil tricks and plots on every corner.

"So," Zalania says. "What is it you seek?"
Zalania placed the few silver pieces in the small chest and turned the key, that was bound to her wrist by a colorful ribbon.
Adele was quiet for a moment, as though pondering what question to ask.
"Tell me about myself," she said, finally.
Smiling to herself mysteriously, Zalania shuffles to cards six times, once for each of the six towers of Desna's palace. "Lady Desna, let the cards be true." She then hands the deck to Adele who shuffles it one last time to represent the mysterious seventh tower.
Adele cuts the deck, putting the two stacks back together again by reversing them. Zalania nods, and turns over the first card. She places cards down in rapid-fire progression, some on top of the other ones, until there are nine cards (or stacks of cards) arranged in the spread formation.
"Ah, poor child. What a difficult past you have faced. Conflicts, deaths, flight. Uncertainty and broken dreams." Zalania's fingers trace along the Eclipse card. "You have been no stranger to death in your past, the trick is not allowing it to get to you. The world is not as broken as you might think, and always the Gods provide opportunities to improve your lot in life."
Zalania's fingers creep upward to the Locksmith card. "You, moreso than others. You have gifts, you have a destiny, child. One that will rely on your strengths and your powers." And then upward again to the Winged Serpent card. "And you know how to use them. Not everyone can say the same. You have been given a trial, a test of faith and ability."
She thinks for a moment, tucking a stray hair behind her ear. "You are drawn to a path of religion, yes?" Zalania shakes her head, moving forward to the Wanderer card, directly to the right of the Winged Serpent card. "If not now, then you soon will be. You have a talent for bringing love and happiness.... freedom, perhaps, to those that are undesired. You love what others despise, may Shelyn bless your path."
Her hand passes across the spread, the central card being a jeweltoned version of the Twins. She hovers over it briefly, but looks below that one at the Mute Hag card.
"How does destiny unfold for you, Adele? What secrets will you harbor in your heart? Perhaps it is the conflict of laws, for I see within you a great desire to do justice. But whose idea of justice is right? For it may be something that all creatures may be said to aspire to. Perhaps you will look out for the little people, those who (like yourself) have known the treachery of time. Or perhaps, you too will be drawn into the conflict of your desires. Will you yearn for a past that cannot be, a future that can be made anew, or to know fully where you are in the present? Will the desires of your heart be in the specks of beauty which fill your dream-clouded memory, or in another reality altogether..... only you can decide this, Adele."
Zalania pauses again, lifting her crystal goblet for a sip of red wine. "But the future...... that is what you want to know about, yes? You want to know if I see love or wealth and all the good things that one wants from life."
Her hand drifts to the center card of the final column, the Courtesan card. "There may be all that you desire, but you will learn a valuable lesson from life. You are a social creature now, your life is held in the balance of great republics and powerful empires. Life for you is what your political situation will make of it. And I see you in many places at once. I see you crossing borders and playing roles grander than you even now imagine. And all with the vaneer of sparkling beauty. The light of Shelyn shines through you."
Zalania's hand hovers again, touching the cards above and below the Courtesan card: the Desert and Demon's Lantern cards. "But as much beauty as you have, even with your social skills enhanced, I still see you on a lonely path. It is a path that you must take, though, but not one that can be completely understood by others. Are you prepared for this, I cannot tell.... but know that some things in this life are never meant to be though our heart yearns for them beyond comprehension. This is your challenge.... to accept this grave possibility. It is a concern that rips you apart, I can feel its presence now rippling through time. Be ready for it. Be ready to face the long, dark loneliness that you will recoil from. So much has already been taken from you.... and so much more promised. It is a grave responsibility for one so full of life, but it will be asked of you, and you will know it."
Zalania begins collecting up the cards. "Is there anything else you seek, Adele?"

Oh, no, actually, I just finally got my shipping notice so I could download the PDFs to everything else. My box won't ship until tomorrow and won't be here until Friday.
I'll be ordering the pdf as soon as I can, can't afford the hardcover at this point and I'll have to scrape together the money for the pdf as it is.
If the order for some PC's I'm building comes through then I may have some extra cash for spending, but we'll see what happens.
At the latest I'll be getting the pdf at this point on the 18th, and hopefully sooner then that. I've already started building Armorneus from the beta, so hopefully the switch to the final rules will be easy.

Are you using UPS for shipping? I think all the people who have gotten theirs early were USPS since they give a generous window for how long it will take to ship. The longest time UPS takes to ship anywhere in the continental US is 4 days, so anyone using the UPS shipping option wouldn't have shipped any earlier than Friday, I imagine.

Where in Adele's past I saw extreme hardship, in yours there is one single terrible misfortune, but other than that your path has been strewn with one lucky break after another. In fact, it is exceedingly obvious that you have been chosen out by the Gods for some special purpose. I imagine that you were not born a slave but fell into it, and have recently escaped by a strange combination of lucky events and the willing sacrifices of one paladin of Shelyn.

These are the exact same cards that came up for Adele's harrowing. Your paths are intertwined at this time. You have found within each other a common goal for your faiths to act upon. I did have a chance to look at my book for about 15 minutes...enough to know I'm taking the travel domain...since the granted power is 10 ft additional movement. The second domain would be charm, granting some nice domain spells....charm, calm emotions, suggestion, heroism, plus charm monster.
Cool about travel, I have a cleric with the travel domain.

What are we using for creation? I'll have my character comcept more finalized once I have my stats done. With Charm and Travel, he's definitely a wandering charmer type, this set-up would also world well for a Varisian Cleric of Cayden named after a certain Gypsy Punk...
So point buy? Roll on IC? what? normal gold for Magic? 88k I think was the number for 9th level, (don't quote me though, I didn't bring the 4 1/2 tome with me to work...LoL...can't wait for my PDF...that'll fit nicely on a stick.)

And yes, whatever the new rulebook quotes as the standard starting wealth for 9th level characters. If you get a chance to look it up and post the number here, I would appreciate that, Xaaon.

As soon as I can scrape together the cash for the pdf I'll start working up Morn with a 20 point buy and starting wealth for 9th level.
Xayden is in work, I worked til midnight then deprived myself of some sleep to work on him LoL...now I'm going to dimensional hop off to bed.
(working a full-time real office job, then doing telecomm CAD in the evenings. not to mention, running/playing my PbPs, and designing a my dynamic combat supplement.)

Wow, I have a +11 Initiative modifier now! Even if I roll a 1, I could still potentially act first - lol. Anyway, check out my character, see if she's okay, and let me know if you want me to include anything more in her character sheet, show my wealth-work (I kinda did a little bit of rounding) or any other changes that need to be made.
