New Arcane Archer has deserved spell progression?

I don't know if this is old news, but it seems asif the new Arcane Archer has either 6 or 7 caster level advances.

I got this from the preview of the core rulebook. The youtube video.

This is the video - its at 2:40 seconds.

It's really hard to see because of the blur, but im pretty sure those are +1's to caster level. Since normally you have the spells per day column to the right of the special column.

Thoughts?

I was actually after Manyshot, but he was skipping too many pages. I actually downloaded it and used VLC's slow-down...

Yeah, that definitely looks like 7 levels of +1 caster level. rather than a separate progression...I could be wrong of course, but that's what it looks like to me.

That was the main reason the Arcane Archer was a terrible PrC. Without at least 1/2 progression, what was the point of being able to imbue spells on your arrows if you couldn't cast any. Glad/hope they fixed that.

If it's true, it's a change for the better!

Woo! It does look like it, hard to tell exactly with just Youtube though. I hope it proves to be true.

Thanks for looking at this - the Ranger in my Second Darkness game will be mighty happy to know this.

I looked at this again, and was able to make out the following:

  • Eldritch Knight - no change to prerequisites (at least in type) - just the two old ones. Spells *could* have changed in level but doubtful.
  • Loremaster (and Loremaster secrets) seems not to have changed.
  • Didn't notice anything different about Mystic Theurge.
  • No changes to the names of skills.

    {Note: This is mostly done by "length of word, related to surrounding words", not actually reading the text!}

    Hmmm... I'm not sure, but I *think* I saw the Blackguard PrC there?!? Did anyone else spot it, or did my poor old eyes deceive me?

    That's because they've already said that the blackguard is looking to be a 20 level progression... back during the prestige class beta design focus.
