I don't mean to argue here, but you are aware that Michael Jackson:
1. Owned a chimp names "Bubbles" (which is what the thread title was referencing)
2. Was accused of inappropriate conduct with minors, and
3. made Pepsi commercials (which, at times, featured Bubbles, the aforementioned chimpanzee)?
Just because someone may be unaware of those facts doesn't mean the thread title was racist.
Just sayin'.

I was going to point out the same things as houstonderek just did and then I found this thread. So I'll join in and say that I didn't detect any kind of racism at all in the thread. In my mind, the chimp reference was clearly to Michael Jackson's actual chimpanzee Bubbles.

If anything, one could always rename the thread in question.
Maybe it aroused so much emotion in Josh that he hit the button without looking the thread over.
What bothers me is that his mistake casts some great posters in a very bad light.
To his credit, he must not know any MJ trivia, and everyone loves innocence, right?
It seems to me that, in the past, thread titles that were viewed as problematic were simply changed. The idea that the title was "patently racist" and/or intended to stir up "latent racism"? Now I'm offended. I am glad that at least my references were understood by some, and I pray that they were misunderstood by very, very few, though I admit I am disheartened that they were misunderstood by anyone. For those who are curious, I simply took three facts about Jackson (he had a Chimp, he did a famous Pepsi commercial, he hung out with twelve-year olds) and tossed them together as an odd melange to evoke comedy, simply because I had no Michael Jackson joke of my own and was creating a thread for others to post theirs. As to my intention, if it wasn't obvious from context, then I will have to rely on my past actions on this board to exonerate me.

Maybe he got a complaint from someone with an extremely thin skin, in which case he had no choice but to cover Paizo's ass. Or he just wanted to nip such an inevitable event in the bud before it actually happened.

I did receive a complaint, but we don't generally spend time on the boards detailing what has been flagged etc.
As for the thread:
I'm going to admit I misunderstood the title and that my assertion of racism is wrong. So I'll fall to my backup position: does a thread filled with pedophile jokes really fit paizo.com? I say no.
