Anybody got any fun ideas for what to do for a date night out? My original plan fell through because the sitter isn't available until later in the day so we'll try to go to renn fest next weekend. But now I don't know what to do tomorrow. It seems like a good idea and all, but honestly these date nights are tough to plan. Sigh. If he were a little more organized we could go play d&d in one of the tutoring rooms at the library. But alas, he is not prepared to GM just now. Wow. My best ideas were renn fest and gaming. I am such a geek. :)

Movie night?

Good idea. And it may be what I go with. But it's kind of a last resort. Movie night usually involves us going to see separate movies.

Ooo...bad date idea, then.

Yeah. Especially since the whole point is to spend nonconfrontational time together. I'm still pretty new at this. We never really dated properly speaking. We met in college and went straight from enemies to in a serious relationship. (Yes, I know I was young and stupid.) And then after we got married we didn't go out or really spend much time together because he was working 100+ hours a week.

So now we're trying this strange dating thing.

Grocery shopping accomplished. I don't know what's worse, the shock from the bill or having to carry all the heavy bags in from the car. Ah, who am I kidding. The bill is so much way worse. My debit card is crying now. :(

On the bright side, since my husband is going to be gone for a work trip all next week I was able to plan fun easy meals, like hot dogs, and chicken nuggets and tortellini. This will make the kid very happy and will mean that I get five whole days when all I really have to do is heat stuff up. :)

When I tried to use my debit card it started screaming "Get away from me! Thats not your purse! Help!, then it called the cops on me. :(

That sounds like a winning plan to me. :)

Well, not really. Solnes's work is a long commute from here. And we only have the sitter until ten. But I can dream... :)

Heh-heh. I had a relationship kind of similar to that once, with a lawyer. Hang in there, and good luck with the negotiation of nonconfrontational time.

Spoiler:
Youo make him clean the house, do the dishes, do laundry, draw you a bubble bath, and then go away so you can enjoy it.

You'll be the rich Baron and she'll be the Cabana girl?

Lynora, I was going to suggest movie night too, but Mairkurion beat me to it, and it was a bad idea anyway. I'm curious, what do you mean that you and your husband were "enemies" before you got together?

We pretty much hated each other. You ever met someone you instantly disliked? It was like that. We were part of the same online community and we tolerated each other well enough until we met in person. And really didn't hit it off. We argued. A lot. We found each other mutually annoying. I don't think either one of us ever had a single nice thing to say about each other. And I guess that's why when they needed to tell me that my boyfriend was cheating on me, my friends decided to let him deliver the bad news. (It wasn't really news.) He was the rebound guy.

Thanks guys. Yeah, we're trying to make a go of it. We were together for all the wrong reasons on both sides, but we've been married for twelve years and we have a six year old son, so it seemed like we needed to at least try and see if we could actually work things out. Some days that seems more possible than others, but hey, that's just how it goes. And we're trying to actually, you know, get to know each other now. Hence the whole dating thing.

Ooh, I can just see it now. And it is a scary, scary thought. I'm, uh, not the most graceful person. Okay, I'm a total klutz. And after the last mini golf outing we decided that activities that involve swinging around a blunt instrument are probably not for me. ;)

Sorry for killing the mood a bit there. I'm really bad about oversharing.

Hmmm...

Football fans? Area should be hoppin' tomorrow.

Dinner and a movie covered. 9 perhaps?

My wife suggested getting massages together.

Window shopping at the mall?

Retro back to one of the things you did when you 1st got married?

Bowling might be dangerous.

Good luck!

BTW, marriage is a lot of work. It'll be 25 yrs for me and the Mrs in January.

I totally agree with you about marriage, and, with kids, it's a lot more difficult to stay connected with your spouse.

So do you guys think Solnes is desperate... I mean Crazy enough... I mean, well no I mean crazy enough to stay with me that long, and should I buy a good pair of handcuffs to keep her here? ;P

I'm not really a football person. But we had a home game last week so there shouldn't be one this week. I don't think anyways. If there is then anything downtown is automatically out since we have to drive by the stadium to get there. But I'm pretty sure there isn't.

Sigh. So far the best thing I've found (that we can affford. Massages sounds great, but they're way too expensive) is a small festival celebrating local produce at the farmers market. There's supposed to be local bands and a beer and wine tent. If the weather were cooler I'd suggest we walk around Gallup Park, but the humidity is not agreeing with my asthma. Maybe in a couple of weeks though.

Cider Mill, or will the humidity or bees be a problem?

Sure, handcuffs could help too. ;)

Marriage is weird. We dated in high school, over 28 yrs ago, and been together ever since. Roughest time was playing second fiddle to the kids, since they require so much attention. Relationship has gotten better as they've aged. We have time for each other again, and are not so wrapped up in ourselves.

But yeah, handcuffs....

Emperor7 wrote:

Not a bad suggestion at all. The one we usually go to is pretty much just a storefront, but I know there's another one nearby that has a lot of activities. Good suggestion. :)

Of course the humidity might still be too much of a problem. I guess I'll have to see what the weather does tomorrow. Blech. It's not supposed to be humid in September.

Edit: Nope. The cider mill with all the activities doesn't open until next weekend.

Yeah, handcuffs can be fun. ;)

I wonder if he'd object if I suggested we go to the art museum? It is, after all, free....

Okay, I give up. I'm gonna go watch tv for a bit. Hopefully he has some brilliant idea. :)

Sounds like a winner to me. Is there a wine bar somewhere near by?

EDIT: Just saw the $ concern. Wine bars are a major cash sink. Anyway, museum is good. Nearby good coffee shop will be cheaper than a wine bar. What time frame are we dealing with here again? It's getting late for tonight.
