I am not yet trained in biology or zoology; but can identify plant life as I am trained in botony; but without those skills I believe none of us can test water.
Regardless, my arguement still stands; we got shot down by unknown assailants; this region is to be an outpost against further sathar incursion be it from sathar controlled members of the alliance or pirates; many kinds of mind control and control from devices can be shown in a blood test
<test self>
Due to these events and our current predicament; anyone who refuses a blood test should be considered a traitor and confined or even stronger measures for the safety of the rest of us.
<continue to run data on current samples>

<Turning to address the group>
We shall concede to professional judgement on medical matters, yes? None continue to oppose testing, no?
<Single outer eyelid wink to Tekkie>
<Turning back to Dr. Wizfixt>
Encountered survivors are to be tested, yes? Does Doctor recommend seeking other pods, yes? Or does Doctor seek the starport, no?

Actually, I only took the ammo for a solid-projectile weapon, on the off chance I actually get a hold of one at some point. He can get the laser pistol. EDIT: So it's an SEU clip, I still call them solid projectile weapons, alright?
"Sure, I'll start scanning for frequencies now."
Just checking, 1d100 with various bonuses/penalties I can't remember at the moment? I any case, I rolled a 4

Killikil Knikk: flight recorder has the approximate location of your pod as well as the nearest equipment pod and aerial photo of the surrounding area. Using the aerial photos you can determine the equipment pod is to the northeast about 150mi and the landing pad is 200mi to the west. Also the pod is sending out a distress signal, give me a Computers: Bypass Security to shut it off.
The pods sensors are bolted to the superstructure.
You are correct about the survival packs.
Dr. Wizfixt: Five people where in the pod.
Tekkie: Ability’s don’t give bonuses in Star Frontiers but I houseruled it so they do, uses the chart to add any cs bonuses.
01-30...-2CS
31-40...-1CS
41-55....0CS
56-75...+1CS
76-100..+2CS
common sense will apply to what ability will influence what skill, i.e. engineering skills are based on logic, medical skills are based in intelligence, ranged combat based on dexterity, close combat based on reaction speed and so on.
Hanarin: You notice what appears to be large webs strung between the tree tops and aside from the breeze blowing the forest no sounds of animal life.

Bypass Roll 62, with +4CS less the level of the pod computer. Probably a failure unless the system is REALLY basic. I warn the group the beacon is still broadcasting.
Tekkie, yes? Experience with deactivating beacons, no? Cut powerlines possible, yes? Ideas, yes?
<Scratching in the dirt near the pod, I draw a rough outline of the aerial info I gathered from the pod sensors. I illustrate what terrain features I can, if any.>
Doctor and crashkin, yes? Beacon may bring visitors, yes? Here is sensor data. Starport to west, 321 km, so. Equipment pod to northeast 241 km, so. Give 8 hour march, group reach port 10 days slowest pace, no? Equipment pod in 8 days, yes? Rations not last duration. Hunting, foraging make pace slow, so.
Doctor, yes? How shall group proceed, no? Must decide soon, yes?
Killikil Knikk
Since Otto did not wish to take the laser pistol and clip, I will retain that, giving Hanarin the other weapon. Unless someone has a better idea, perhaps we should attempt to use a pistol to silence the beacon.
Tekkie and Otto, yes? If such cannot silence the beacon, should we use force to end the signal, no? Enemy starfighters may track pod to forest. Send force to eliminate survivors, yes? Can pod be destroyed, no?

Tekkie rolled a 62 for the attempt to help silence the beacon

As Killikil Knikk and Tekkie are attempting to disable the rescue beacon all of you hear the roar of a hovercraft fly overhead. Looking up you see the hovercraft begin to circle back to the area of broken trees caused by the crash and will be over your position in just a few minutes. The beacon is still active.

Fortunately for everyone that was a 59% roll against 5% chance of battle rage... or squirrel rage given Tekkie has no combat skills to mention!
Doctor. I think Tekkie thought she did give a sample, thus the "Ow." Perhaps she is running from giving a second sample.
<I quickly set the Laser Pistol to 2 charges, and send a bolt into the panel housing the sensor relay board, hoping th fry or sever the power circuitry. Then I rush out of the pod, urging Tekkie to follow.>
Everyone, yes? Grabbing remaining supplies, so. Follow Hanarin, yes? Escape we must. Lead the way, yes?

Swiftly follow Killikil grabbing as much gear she can carry with a holdhall or whatever bags available.

<some plants are natural repellants for bugs; like Garlic flowers repell mosquitoes; it is doubtful since the spiders live in this area; but any plant around that is similar to one that repells maybe arachnids? if not guess we just make best speed.>
hmm dilemna; open ground we move faster, but might be spotted by the hovercraft which we dont know if they are here to help or not; thicker vegetation may hide us from direct observation; but we dont know how long the spiders will persue.
<shout>Anyone have an idea how many could be aboard that hovercraft and maybe the odds of us subdueing the crew if they are hostile and seek to take us prisoner? We should consider options so we can act fast if such a logical and probable circumstance arises.
Otto, would you please take a the point and choose our best path; our goal is the avoid contact with aggressors and reach the base.
Killikil Knikk
That should be all the supplies, we didn't have alot.
<Moving to the area where Killikil tracked the rough map into the soil, he begins to hastily rough it and erase it with a leg.>
Hanarin, yes? Please to lead the way, yes? I will move behind, speed is greater than group, no?
Doctor, yes? Would vrusk spider violence threaten colony, yes? Will retreat resume nest protection, so, not pursuit, no?
Is this direction pointing us towards either the starport or equipment pod. Just curious about which direction, NSEW, we are moving. We may not want to have to circle around a wide search area once we leave here to get to where we ultimately decide to go.
Edit. Sorry Doctor, I called to Hanarin as the enforcer, but maybe the geologist might be a better choice, if he has wilderness expreience.

"Those webs should hide our progress but if you really want to keep those spiders off set fire to the canopy above the pod that should draw those searchers here and make the spiders more angry!" Tekkie blurts out as she follows Killikl
Dr. Wizfixt
I fear the results of our action; we know not how our interactions affect the region. Everything is a constant balance of prey and predator; we should flee with as little impact as possible. Any delay increases the likelyhood of our being seen and persued; we should regroup a distace away; and reevaluate. i do not believe the spiders will expend much energy to pursue if we leave their territory. I believe stealth and speed our our best course of action.
Otto; what direction is best toward starport?
Otto Samir
"Alright, let's see, the city was roughly 22 degrees to the left of those mountains when we were up there, so the town should be... that way." Otto points (hopefully) towards the town.
Find Direction: 22

< Killikil moves towards the edge of the clearing, along the direction the others are taking. He stops near the path to cover Hanarin, taking cover in the brush nearby. The laser pistol is in hand, setting dialed up to 3 SEUs. >
Hanarin, yes! Others need your assistance onwards, so. Will cover trail and follow, yes.
Tekkie
I've done that mistake once or twice so...
Tekkie tries to keep up as the surrounding forest lurks the terror of webbing strung between them and the ever presence of the huge arachnids make the going harder and the feeling of paranoia grows as they move out hoping to escape the boundaries of the arachnids' webs as well as the approaching enemy who might have been responsible for the destruction of their ship...
"Watch where you're holding that needle!" Tekkie squeaks behind her as she noticed the "good" doctor getting close.
He probably isn't holding a needles but given the situation I doubt Tekkie would be double checking until they've reached some point where they can rest up...
Killikil Knikk
Once everyone is clear of the area, and far enough away that their movement is long past being audible, Killikil moves out of hiding and begins backwards tracking after them, attempting to cover and hide the immediate area where they entered the forest. That is, of course, unless the craft, spiders, or searchers show up on scene.
Using brush and leaf fall to disquise his presence, Killikil pauses patiently in the brush, laser pistol ready, mimicing his ancient ancestry, his ear listening to his fleeing companions, his eyes observing the crash sight.
