I've always really dug Cannonball as a character.
Sunspot, before he was able to fly and fire heatblasts, was another favorite.
I was a huge New Mutants/X-force fan back in the day. I always loved how Marvel took "basic" powers like flight and super-strength in Cannonball/Sunspot's case and made them really interesting.
The Young X-men series now kind of sucks. Dust is a cool character, but I don't care for the rest. Wolfcub is a blatant Wolfsbane rip-off, Ink isn't even a mutant, etc. etc.
Although, Armor is another younger X-character who has potential. Another example of a "basic" power (force fields) used in a really creative way.

Oh man...
Full disclosure - I consider the satellite teams to be "X-Men". If they fought for the dream, they deserve the title. I also pick and choose what's canon after Claremont's first departure, and I hardly consider much of anything that's happened recently as canon. If you try to tell me what's going on with them recently, I won't hear you. I'm not going to cloud up the thread with my reasons why. I prefer to think of the characters as being the characters I loved back in the day.
1. Wolfsbane/Rahne Sinclair. I grew up with this character. Man, the New Mutants days were wild. It was my series back then. I loved all those characters(yes, Doug Ramsey too dammit) but Rahne was the one that captured my attention the most. Even when she frustrated you, you just wanted to give the poor girl a hug.
2. Storm/Ororo Munroe. Hot damn. Had a big hand in shaping my idea of Woman as a child, and considering this was during the 80's mohawk era, that probably warped me a bit, but hey! While I felt that was when she was at her most awesome and badass, she's always been a tough cookie. Only person Wolverine would consistently back down from and all.
3. Nightcrawler/Kurt Wagner. German swashbuckler/circus acrobat/priest/semi-ninja/love-machine who also looks like a demon? Kurt was pure awesome in a can! And I still want to play a NG tiefling swashbuckler because of him.
Just throwing this out there, favorite storyline? ASGARDIAN WARS. And fan of the X-Men and fantasy should look it up.

Lathiira |

1) Rogue. I've always been attracted to the untouchable, and no one's as untouchable as she is. Also, the Southern Belle in the middle of the multinational group adds a touch of reality to the team.
2) Storm. Style, grace, confidence, and a whole lot of power. Gotta respect Ororo.
3) Emma Frost. Surprisingly, Emma's been working her way up the ranks for me. She's Machiavellian enough to give the X-men a chance in a world where their foes keep trying to kill them, and her wicked sense of humor is a pleasant change of pace.
4) Nightcrawler. Mind you, I like Kurt most when he's swashbuckling. His faith also adds something to the team.

I stopped reading X-men several years ago, but here are my favorites from back then.
My number one favorite is Wolverine. I've liked that character for many years.
Number two would have to be Colossus.
Number three used to be the metallic-winged Archangel, but then they gave him the feathers back. Now number three would probably be Beast.

CourtFool |

I am tossing in with Lathiira here. Rogue because she is the untouchable girl next door. Immediately accessible yet entirely out of reach.
On the male side, Wolverine. I’m a brooder, what do you expect? It is Heathcliff with claws sans a mansion full of gadgets, ala Batman. Do not get me started on his suspicion of authority.

1) Cyclops. I was always the kid who was "out of it" and nerdy. Plus the whole "having to wear glasses" like I do was a bonus.
2) Iceman. Being from Michigan, i love the cold and being able to make snow whenever I want would be a plus.
3) Warpath. He's a new-ish X-Man, but Brubaker did a wonderful job writing him and now I really like him.

1) Deadpool.
2) Deadpool.
3) Deadpool.
4) Deadpool.
and finally
5) DEADPOOL!!!!!
He is by far my second favourite Character in Comics (nobody beats The Flash, but Deadpool comes seriously close).
I am so disappointed with how they treated the character in the new Wolverine movie.

Steven Tindall |

For the lady's I will always go with storm. Not because of her being a powerhouse but because no matter what she is a survivor.
The guys r a little tougher, my first choice is always colossus/peter. The close second is magneto simply because of the dept of the character. Heck maybe I'm just into guys that r into metal!

Db3's Astral Projection |

Gambit and Angel(guys whose mutant gene gave him wings) are my favorites.
There was one mutant I felt sorry for though. In one of the comics(can't remember if it's a new one or not) this kid wakes up one morning and can't find his mom or his dog. When he gets to school and meets the girl he likes, she and everyone else start to dissolve/evaporate. Turns out the kid's X-gene activated and he started pumping out an invisible toxin without knowing. Logan's sent to kill and the kid knew it but didn't run.
You just gotta feel sorry for him.

Magneto. Always love the proud, entitled, morally ambiguous characters.
1. Magneto. Best villain ever. I love how his just and honourable side conflicts with his lust for power and respect.
2. Kitty. Jewish nerd chicks are hot, okay ?
3. Deadpool. Deadpool. Deadpool ? Deadpool !

Got it! Bobba Fett.
I don't know what you're talking about. As you can see in my original post (which was most certainly not editted immediately prior to me posting this, and how dare you accuse me otherwise), I spelled it correctly.
And, to be fair, if you have a name that sounds like a noise a baby might make, you should expect some spelling errors to creep in.
Now, if you will excuse me, my daughter has made a Dooku in her pants, and I must change her.

I've always loved Nightcrawler -- Rather religious character that looks demonic.
Also really liked Colossus -- Teddy bear that can squish you like grape.
Longshot (with good writers) was enjoyable as well -- the luck thing was interesting, but I loved his innocence.
For bad guys, nothing beats the Juggernaut (even though the movie sucked in its portrayal of him) -- Arrogant bastard that has the power to back it up.

"Edited" -- but keep working on that editing. ;-)
Oh, and welcome back.

Oh, and welcome back.
Someone's mutant power appears to be nit-picking.
Thanks, good to see you on the boards.

Hmmm...must think of obscure X-men...hmm...
Got it! Boba Fett.
Awesome avvy ain't it. Ghost Rider was one of favorite comics growing up, Jonny Blaze kicked ass and then seared their souls afterwards.

Magik. Growing up, dealing with depression and some really dark thoughts, Illyana's fighting-with-my-demon-soul really resonated with me. (Ok, technically not an X-man, but she's just that awesome)
Shadowcat - Kitty is just awesome. Besides, she took out Rogue. In one shot.
HM- Maddy Pryor - Before the entire 'clone of Jean Grey' thing. Solo human, travelling with the X-men, willing to sacrifice herself for the world.
For the Y chromosome...
Bishop. The early pre-AoA Bishop and the X-treme X-men Bishop. He had an awesome power, but didn't rely on it. I really wanted to see him hook up with someone, and be able to put his future behind him.
Wolverine. For similar reasons as Magik, the constant pushing past the rage and anger to be human was more important than the claws and healing factor. Also being able to use that beast to his advantage.
HM - Forge. While not an X-man for most of his career, the ability to invent -anything- and battle a sorceress supreme to a standstill in her own dimension, says a lot about his power and backstory.
Villians... Magneto. Not for his powers, but I fear that if I was a mutant, hunted, feared... I'd find myself on his side more often than not. That bothers me.

Curaigh |

1. Night**bamf**
2. Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat)
3. Rachel Summers
Lockheed was an X-men but he was not as developed as he could have been. Psi-lock was cool when they remade her into Psinja. Yeah most of my X-men was with the original Excaliber.

My favorite used to be Wolverine but as I got older it became Collossus. I still like Logan mind you but there is somthing about the born to be warrior but has the heart of a poet that I like.
As for the girls? Boom-Boom (now sadly dead),Jubilee,Kitty....
I loved them for their "spunky" attitudes. But Psylocke her I loved!

As for the girls? Boom-Boom (now sadly dead)
It is my solemn and sad duty to inform you but the beautiful and fiery Tabitha/Boom-Boom was killed in the latest issue of X-Force(or as I call the current stories X-farce) by the Leper Queen... bullet to the head while she just sits and cowers... what complete BS.

Wolf Munroe |

Angel has always been my favorite, but he's usually background character because no one can ever figure out how to use him in a fight scene.
X-Men Evolution was my favorite iteration of the X-Men series too. I was disappointed that W. and the X-Men wasn't a continuation of Evo.
Angel totally kicks rocks in the latest Uncanny X-Men. If you like Angel, I'd definitely recommend checking it out. (Uncanny X-Men #507.)
My favorites are Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat), Jean Grey, Wolverine, and Cable. I've also been impressed with Iceman in the last couple years.
While she's not technically an X-Man (she's from the current X-Factor series that launched in 2005), I really like Layla Miller. She knows stuff. The current ongoing X-Factor series really makes me like Multiple Man a lot too.
Another new character that I like is... (a new character in a current X-Factor plot)
But anyway, Peter David asks in the front of the last couple issues of X-Factor that people not give away too much about that story arc so I won't say anything else. *zips his mouth*
