Sniff sniff alas poor cleric. I know the feeling went through Temple of Elemantal Evil myself with a mage named Fredigar Cripps all those years back when 3rd ed just came out and the dm is playing a half orc kick ass barbarian in my Burnt Offerings.

He was the only guy to originally survive into the nodes everyone else had 4 or more character changes lolololololol.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Never played Temple of EE myself, but by all accounts it's lethal. Condolences, Brett. I hope it was a good death. (If as FW implies you saved the whole party, then in my book it was a good death.)

The Exchange

I am a little frazzled from the weekend's gaming so I'll post tomorrow when things will kick off with a map too. Sorry for the brief hiatus but I rarely get to go to Cons these days.

If anyone has anything else to do, now is your chance.

Cheers

Keep that up and I'll have to drop you a few xp. How many games you in?

Ta

I'm running my Crimson Throne PbP. That's eating a lot of time and its prefab. Got to take my hat off to anyone running homebrew.

PbP Characters :

Shimei, Romon, Jon, Amar, Effan. So 5. First two are pretty steady daily posts sometimes two; Jon's campaign runs in bursts. Effan and Amar have slowed down to two or three or occasioanlly less per week.

Could potentially add a PC, but work promises to be busy for the next couple months. I'd hate to take a slot in a game then have to beg off. I did that with a PbP beta playtest I was going to DM, but just ran out of time. One of the players stepped up and the group ran 4 or 5 scenarios with the beta rules. But I still felt I'd let them down.

The game seems to have slowed alot since I said how well you were all doing. Is everyone busy, want to convert now or just is it the lack of a genuine leader that is making any decision a two day process? I prefer things to move a bit swifter but am happy if you guys are??

Probably lack of a leader. We are talking about everything. I don't mind, I like the RP. Shimei is going to speak his mind, but he wants the team to work, so he'll always go along with the party. Just pull an Erizi -- toss off a curt reply and go on with your plan. :) SHimei will come around, I guarantee it.

If someone wants to step up as leader, that's fine with me too. I don't think it's Shimei right now. Maybe after working with the party more he would give it a shot, but not now.

In PC world the best leader would probably be Nombir or Zaid. In meta-game world the best leader would be the most frequent poster.

Alternatively, we could just act on the plan of the first two posts in agreement, kind of like the recent Shimei-Nombir-Erizi discussion.

The Exchange

Most of the other groups I am in have one or two leaders, and they do tend to post often. Like you I like the RP alot. Erizi throwing his baby out the pram was good stuff.

Thanks for your thoughts.

BTW I never responded to your previous post but I have been in that situation a couple of times and I had to think long and hard before starting it. Its much more work than Legacy.

Cheers

The Exchange

I've caught a bit of a bug, so I'll be taking my time updating this game tomorrow. Off to bed, again.

Cheers

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Brett, glad you're sticking around.

The Exchange

Yeah Brett was probably sore at the poor performance of his Mexican cavalry on Sunday. The Americans beat up Santa Anna twice over the weekend.

Good games though.

And Good to have you back.

I am going to try to "cut corners" a little to help move things along, its not my usual style, I like to give everyone lots of time to post but I agree with Erizi that there are ways I can speed things up a bit.

The only other way I can think of is to bring in another player, someone reliable who could do a bit of pushing. I'd do it but I like the way you guys bumble along. It really feels low level.

Also I am going to put your xp total on my profile so that people can tell how close they are to levelling.

Cheers

Viva Santa Anna!

The Exchange

I'm no techno- specialist. As you can tell from my maps.

But I am having problems uploading my scanned map to Photobucket. I'll keep trying. Should be able to get someone to help on Tuesday if necessary but meanwhile any advice would be welcome.

Cheers

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Guys, a heads up. I'll be out of touch (well internet) over Labor day weekend (September 4-8).

FW, sorry I can't help. No habla photobucket. From experience I can tell you Flickr is pretty quick and easy.

The Exchange

I am looking at using Google docs or Mythweavers this week to alleviate the map/image problems I'm having with Photobucket.

Meanwhile if you look at Mothman's drawing that should help.

Also just a bit of advance warning, I'm on holiday from Thursday evening until Monday evening. No internet. Going cold turkey for four days.

Cheers

Shimei knows the text well, the bible pages have been torn out and s!#~ted on. Most are either stuck to the walls low down or paper-mache the altar front and sides. Looks to be all 77 pages.

Actually, FW he may not know it well. Shimei's got an uneducated nomad vibe, no formal training. That's partly why his divine focus is the longbow.

Part of the reason I picked Erastil was because player's guide indicated he's not well-known in Katapesh. Shimei's connection to him is a visceral, visionary, prophetic thing. The big E is planning on using Shimei to open up a new branch office as it were.

Also, reading is a long painstaking process for him. He's not the most literate of men. He'll try to work it out after the fight. I will assume there's a symbol of Sarenrae prominent on the paper? Enough to recognize it's probably a religious text.

The Exchange

Ok, I get it.

He will recognise the style and patterns around the edge. This bible was valuable. With great care and the use of the right reagents the work could be cleaned off and still read, even maybe re-bound at some point.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

He'll point it out to Zaid. After the fight. Zaid will probably dig it.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Geek Level 10

Zaid will indeed dig it.

The Exchange

Sounds good to me. *clue* You have already met the guy that can help with the cleaning.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

BYe, FW. Have a nice time!

my apoligies for lack of posting but my pc has gone down trying to get it fixed asap hope to be back soon DM NPC me till i return please

The Exchange

Thanks for letting me know, Micheal. Good luck with your PC.

Cheers

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Ditto on your computer, Michael.

Hey FW, I'll be traveling on business the remainder of this week and combining it with a trip to see my parents. I may not be able to post regularly, so feel free to DMPC Shimei or assign him to another player. His plan is to stand firm with the entropic shield, cast guidance and try to shoot the little buggers. Obviously circumstances may change that plan.

The Exchange

Thanks mate, I'll slow things down, it looks like Rimrock (Zaid) is also a bit tied up too. So no probs and enjoy the time with family.

I've got a nephew's swimming party to help with this weekend and then its my Dad's 70th next weekend.

Cheers

Heading for a wedding this weekend. Net access unclear. DM-PC as required.

The Exchange

Thanks, I am at the parent's in sunny Cornwall. Have a good time at the nuptials.

Got some of that gaming paper delivered this morning, it looks great. Ideal for prepping maps ahead of the game. Which should help with the Temple stuff as well.

You are so right. It is persistently raining as I write this. And we are about to walk round a lake on the Dartmoor. Ye Gods.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Things crashing at work. Will post as soon as I can. maybe at lunch. maybe not til tomorrow.

The Exchange

Over the next two weeks my posting may be a little slow. Sorry but there is alot going on at home and the result so far is I am getting little free time when I have any energy to post.

That should finish with the end of October.

Cheers

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Thanks for the heads up FW. I hope it all works out.

The Exchange

Just so everyone knows, I'm running three days of games at my house starting tomorrow, so my ability to post will be pretty cut down. Then it's a weeks holiday doing DIY and the like but that shouldn't slow me down too much.

After that things should return to a more normal routine.

Cheers

Lochaude is meant to a fun game and I'm afraid that that doesn't seem to be the case at the moment. It is dying on its feet and I rather find a solution even if that means we abandon this game.
From Behind the Scenes at Lochaude Keep:

FRENCH WOLF wrote:

Looking at the way posting has fallen off, there are one or two problems. First I had a few weeks of spotty posting thanks to illness, a holiday and my bi-annual homecon (with its preparation). Second since the beginning this hasn't been a very busy game and that lack of energy hasn't really improved. I'm afraid that that is down to players posting and enthusiasm as much as mine. Pbps need people that want to post.

So let me know what you think? Do you want this game to continue? Would you post more often in the future?

Here are the main choices, feel free to throw in any more you can come up with;

1) Stop the game.
2) Stop the game and if someone wants to they can join in my Legacy of Fire game instead. There is room for two or three to swap over.
3) Do not stop the game but recruit players from the Forum.
4) Continue as is but everyone starts posting more often, say at least 3 times a week, preferably more.

Obviously if someone wants out then this would be their chance. I'd rather not do this very often.

Cheers

FW, I would definitely be up for more frequent posting and to add some PCs if the Lochaude gang wants to join.

Liberty's Edge

I'm happy to have more PC's join the game.

Posting is a lot better now than when we first started, so I'm enjoying the game a lot more.

The Exchange

I'd still like to hear from Rimrock and Micheal, however thanks for everyone else's comments.

Unless I hear from Micheal360 soon I think his lost computer means he will be out for a while. But rather than lose him I'd like to have you guys go back to camp and drop Zsithreminni off. So that she can come back in whenever.

Garavel and Almah could recruited one or two more, i.e. we could have a couple of PCs ready to join in. Whether they are the Lochaude bunch or others that people recommend (I'm looking for people with a proven track record this time) then I think that should help with the posting rate.

Cheers

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Geek Level 10

I'm cool with more joining the game.

The Exchange

The players in my other game have decided to go for it, so we will have to look elsewhere for additional players.

I reckon two more would do it, two more quality players would be ideal. So I reckon the best thing is we try to get players from the games we are already playing or DMing in. So Rimrock, therealthom, and scranford can you please bang the drum in your games for some volunteers and I'll do the same in mine.

Cheers

Dark Archive

Hi I just saw French Wolves posts in the tower of the last Baron thread asking for players for his games and would be very interested in playing in this one (The other game as well but this one more so.)

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

French Wolf

Spoiler:
I'd be interested in either game FW. For the this game, Legacy of Fire, I was thinking maybe a bard? I haven't played a bard in a Long time so this would be my first choice.

For your second homebrewed game, looks like you are shy a skil monkey, so maybe a rogue or a scout? Or even ranger?

I'd be happy playing either game so I'll head in wherever you think I'd be most needed/helpful etc.

If you'll have me, I think it would be great to try a game helmed by you
: )

Kevin, that's great. The guys are good at posting daily, during the week, so as long as you can commit to that then you are in. I'll send Khaladon over to the other game so that looks like its full now.

Play whatever you want, and it will join the game probably in a week or so when the party reach a good point. If you need more time let me know.

I'd recommend reading the Legacy Players Guide and my original notes at the start of this thread, but any questions feel free.

Cheers.

Well having a quick look over I'm thinking of doing a Halfling rogue as for introductions I have an idea If your interested to hear.

The Exchange

I'm all ears.

Spoiler:
I was thinking about taking the seeking adventure trait but since the group is already out in the field I thought that we could instead maybe say the character was a pathfinder that had been captured (Gnolls are slavers if I recall) and they could rescue the character from them.

Female Halfling Rogue 3

Okay have the very basics done just waiting to see what you say about my idea.

Looks like your recruiting was very successful, FW. I would be interested if you needed an extra in either game. No concept worked up (since you don't appear to need one), but I'm pretty much open to whatever benefits the group the most.

I'll lurk meanwhile...

The Exchange

AinvarG its time to stop lurking and you are in. That is the last spot filled.

Kevin Mack - that background idea works for me and I'll try to add a bit to it as we get your PC sorted.

So both of you - go for it.

Cheers

Ack! I wasn't expecting that so soon! ;-)

Which game has the slot I'm filling? Any preference or obvious lacks in the current party that you would like me to consider?

EDIT: I'm going to go ahead and brainstorm for the LoF game -- it's the one I was hoping for, actually. It appears that there is a cleric, cleric-ranger(?), a fighter, and a conjurer. I believe a rogue might be in the offing already, so I'm thinking another arcanist might be appropriate - specialist wizard or sorcerer? Hmm...

I honestly don't see her having much besides her armour and maybe her wayfinder (If she found somewhere to hide it) on her person to begin with

Besides that and background everything is good to go

Yes I missed that minor detail. Legacy of Fire it is, AinvarG. So keep brainstorming as your summation of the party is dead on.

Norn

Spoiler:
Lets say that you manage to escape with your wayfinder intact, and that you also get picked up by the horrible Dashki on one of his periodic scouting mission. You were held at a ruined fort at the far end of the valley. He brought you back to Almah's camp and when the party finish off the pugs they can meet up with you there.

I'll go over your profile when I have more time, but nevertheless thanks for being so speedy.
