What are the main changes of Pathfinder over 3.5?

General Discussion (Prerelease)

I'm surprised this isn't in the FAQ or the wiki or stickied... What are the major changes for Pathfinder?

Class Features that encourage sticking with one class.
Skills (combined)
Sneak Attack (anything?)
Grapple (simplified?)

Major changes in BETA:

CMB (instead of Grapple, Trip, Sunder...)
Channeling (instead of Turn attempts)
Skillpoint system
Rage

Sneak attack now can affect undead and other creatures previously immune to sneak attacks (though not all)

(I think I got most of the major changes. Correct me if I am wrong.)

Death spells are mostly nerfed to do damage instead.
No experience costs/experience penalties.
Polymorph spells work differently.
Spellcasters get "at will" cantrips and often a weak "at will" 1st level spell-like ability.
Power Attack, Combat Expertise and Improved Trip got nerfed.
All races get a net "+2" to stats.
Hit dice are d6/d8/d10, depending on the class's base atatck bonus.

Note that nothing we know is really final yet: A lot of things in the final game will be closer to 3.5 than to PF Beta, while some things will go beyond what the Beta did.

This is NOT a double post.

If more than two of the twelve things mentioned above turn out to be radically different from the Beta, I will eat a bug. You heard it here first! :-)

Scarab Sages

OOOO what kind of bug? cricket? meal worm? deadly deadly scorpion?

If too many of those changes disappear, I don't know what I'll end up doing...probably playing Earthdawn 3rd edition...

Or one of those bat-eating cave-dwelling centipedes! That'd be a sight to see.

Sounds great to me!

I get to pick the bug. And I get to decide if a change is "radical" or not. :-)

If ants count as bugs then that's no big deal.
Some actually taste like lime.

Darn now what am I going to do with the intelligent man eating giant cockroach I've been breading in my room?

Scarab Sages

Actually bugs mostly taste like what they eat, so if your maggots eat dung and garbage...well you can imagine their taste...but if they eat bananas and strawberries...mmmm mmm....

I'm sure I'll be eating bugs in the next few years, if I lose my job again...cuz I don't think I'll get another any time soon...not in this economy...

I breed Blaberus Giganteus.. They get just over 3 inches long.. If i had the nerve to eat one, it'd probably taste like stir fried veggies.. They pretty much eat what I eat, and they love it..

I think there should be a poll to decide what sort of bug he has to eat.

I understand fried grasshopper is a delicacy in Mesoamerica....
