Given the latest apparently public exit, I got to wondering about other exits from the message boards. When I was but a wee lurker, a little less than a year ago, there was a fellow by the name of Razz who made a rather explosive exit from the boards after he got called out on his 4E hate.
Just curious if there were some other notorious exits, or perhaps some exits where the community was sad to see someone go.

I just recall that about a year or two ago, a regular poster just stopped posting all of sudden, and a few people were quite worried - worried enough that those knowing him personally contacted him. All was well, he just had too much to do to keep posting regularly. I don´t recall who it was, though.
I´d rather not dig up the memories of those-whose-names-should-not-be-spoken-anymore - there were a few incidents at the height of the 3e vs. 4e debate, and in all these cases, I just say good riddance.
Other incidents should rather be remembered - like the guy whose RPG stuff was stolen from his car, and it was a LOT of material. He recieved very generous donations to be back playing fast.

I think that might have been me. A little less than a year ago, I had a major mental breakdown, and locked myself in my room for a month or so. I think Daigle even started a thread about it. Made me feel like kind of a jerk for doing it, but it's in the past, I guess.

...and then there were the whackos that used to try to hijack the Civil Religious Discussion thread
Civil?
Just because I no longer stoop to responding to jackassery here doesn't mean I don't lurk around now and then.
And if you'd checked your facts, you'd see I have posted quite recently.

Alright, at some point I left. Eventually I returned with a new account, because I'd forgotten my old password and had a new computer. At another, I did a 'goodbye' thread just to freak people out, just to say that I might not be around as much. Muahahaha. ;)
Also, to Chatdemon: Mellow out! If you want to argue, please do it in another thread.
/\That's because 3.5 is better, we don't have any trolls. ;)

Sometimes it's an improvement though!

Or Hero trolls for that matter. Or can you troll a game no one feels passion for?

I'm sure you've earned the animosity of Courtfool with that statement. ;)

I kid because I love. I know the Grand Poodell has a sense of humor. Heck he laughed off my 'tea party' joke on another thread ..
Seriously, there are trolls wherever folks find things to argue about. Some folks like to argue just to argue, and some folks like making melodramatic exits set to antagonize everyone else. Human nature really.

QFT. Human nature loves drama. Certain people can't stand it when everything is peaceful and quiet and they feel like they have to stir the pot.

Hey now, some of us are very passionate about the Hero system. This just isn't the forum to complain about 6E. :P

Its kinda funny to me how folks get worked up about rules systems. The only reason I play D&D is the fact I have been playing it for 30 years, not through any illusion that it is the 'best' system. I actually kinda like the point systems of certain games, but like 4E, I already have so much time, money and braincells invested in the (3.5/Pathfinder) D&D game/universe I really don't want to switch to anything else. It's not because I think that my favorite game is the 'best' game, it's merely the game I grew up with and I have a certain nostalgic love for it. Rules are just a way of adjutating results. You can have the sleekest rules system in the world, but if you can't tell a good story then you've got bupkis.
