So my boyfriend is a hip hop producer and loves to sample music for his beats. We were fiddling around on teh intertubes last night and found these! Aren't they neat?
Some people argue that what this dude is doing is just like mash-ups, a la Girl Talk and the Grey Album. But in all reality, what this guy is doing is sampling from a whole bunch of youtube vids. Imagine the awesome songs that could be made that started off as youtube vids. Gives me shivers. OR! Rick rolls for all!
I likes it.

So sorry, but my opinion is just that. Call it being a jerk for stating it, but hey...tough.
It blows.
Can't argue with that. Opinions are opinions. Here's mine.

Eatabagofdicks is your response? Wow...as if I could even go to that site from work.
Consider the sentiment mutual, friend.

OK, I will admit that that was uncalled for, and I apologize for it. I was having a s*++ty day, and this particular situation put me over the edge of immaturity.
In any case, however, your original comment was no less uncalled for. One of the rules here in this community is that if someone treats you with respect, even if you don't like what they have to say, you treat them with respect. Again, I'll admit to breaking that rule, but I apologized for it. You didn't. Seriously, if you don't have something intelligent to say, don't say it. Grow the hell up.
I'm not touching this thread again.

How did I treat them without respect by stating my opinion about something? Did I say "Hey, you and your boyfriend are wasting your time on something that lacks any creative talent and is representative of how lacking you are as humans" ? No. I said my opinion ABOUT the music.
Being "politically correct/publicly acceptable" has morphed into something soo sick and sachrine-like that it is positively disgusting... Homogeny is not inducive to creativity, individuality, or freedom. It is censorship and stifling by definition.
We can never be sure that the opinion we are endeavoring to stifle is a false opinion; and if we were sure, stifling it would be an evil still. ~John Stuart Mill, On Liberty, 1859
Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so, too. ~Voltaire

Well, I'm not one for video mash ups, they never seem right to me, the music just sounded like normal electronica so I don't quite get the fart in a bottle refrence. It's not like the sound hasn't existed since about the mid eighties. As for the concept, well it is a clever use of youtube I think, especially since youtube is becoming such a popular medium.

I hear that. I'm not a mash-up guy either, but that was indeed clever. Always nice to see people doing something even remotely new when everthing is so retread.

So, you'd appreciate a CD quality recording of myself farting into a bottle...as it is new and not retread?
This being so, how much do you think you'd pay for such a recording?| Emperor7 |

Check not the definition of the term, rather its application. ;)

This reminds me of the saying that nothing is original, and there is merely old stuff reassembled.
Now, I'm not saying its bad or good because of that, I'm just making an observation. Personally, I find it interesting, but not neccessarily something I would put on my tracklist to cycle sporadically on shuffle/repeat all day long.
Regarding Flynn, I think the outcry is due to the terribly subjective contextual aspect of internet dialogue. The OP posted about a form of music which they found interesting, and wished to share. Your response alluded said music to a scatalogical act which, to the average person, carries a certain amount of perceived disgust and unsophistication to those who engage in it. Contextually, because you referenced the OPs comment about shivering, it implied that perceived disgust against the OP's preference in music, and similarly implied the same unsophistication against the OP.
Could it have been said differently to not engender the response it did? Certainly. Ex: "Well, I think it sounds like farting in a bottle. Definitely not my thing."
However, Flynn is no criminal for posting his opinion. I beleive his opinion was merely that, an opinion, not an attack. Perhaps less well worded than it could have been, but it is unreasonable to hold him, or anyone else, to a standard so high as to prevent such interpretations. I hold an unfair advantage in regards to such self-deconstruction due to my life and scholastic choices. It is ridiculous to assume everyone else would be similarily skilled.

He also could have said nothing, or simply, "I didn't like it." Turning the OPs words around reads as a deliberate attempt to be antagonistic, to be a bully. That's right, I said it.

It's not the first time he's done it either. He even tried to be antagonistic towards Mona the other day. Trying to tick off someone who is high up at Paizo is not a very good idea.

Did anyone see the Stephen Colbert remix? That was funny as heck.
I can't seem to find a current version of it and my old links no longer work. Anyone know where to find them, I can't even seem to locate it on ColbertNation.com
Probably not this one, huh?
