If other folks that have been avidly (or is that rabidly?) following this contest are feeling anything like I am, this has been the LONGEST 10 days waiting to see that the top four have posted, and then there's yet another four days before we get to see the results!
On the other hand, since there's been pretty much silence out of our top four (barring the occassional quickie post here and there) I imagine it's been a very short time for them :)
Hoping the gentlemen are all doing well, no nervous breakdowns or tearing out what's left of their hair, and that you're all going to make us agonize over our vote yet again!

I'll chime in here.
I would have been toast if the round 5 submission had a deadline of a single week like the previous four rounds. I just spent most of the last few days backpacking on a trip I committed to long before this contest appeared on my radar. It was a good break though, and it got down to zero degrees Fahrenheit on one night (a temperature widely regarded as "mythological" by my Southern Californian brethren).
Anyway, I'm back at the keyboard now, watching draft 2 of my submission slowly come together.
Hope this gives you some visibility into my end of things.
Looking forward to round 5. I've been reading the "a little advice for the finalists" thread with rapt attention. No matter how this contest turns out, it's been a great experience.

I know if I wasn't involved with an actual assignment for this final round, I'd certainly be climbing the walls, too. That's a mixed blessing, of course, as the assignment comes with its own unique level of stress and self-doubt. But, all things considered, I'm very appreciative of the opportunity provided and just want to make the most of it...no matter the final outcome. Or, as the judges indicated..."don't be boring"...and I very much don't want to bore anyone with my work.
On the other hand, since there's been pretty much silence out of our top four (barring the occassional quickie post here and there) I imagine it's been a very short time for them :)
It's actually been pretty good so far. I'm on draft #5...I think?...with plans to do probably two more refining pass-throughs before I settle on my final submission. So it hasn't really felt like a short time to me this go-around. I think the earlier rounds were much more pressure-filled from a time perspective for me, because of the quick 3-day turnaround periods.
The full 10 days from this round's rule-posting to our submission deadline are actually VERY useful. It gives you the time to really think through the plot of your adventure...close off any holes it might have...and then focus on distilling the best and most memorable scenes you can derive from it for your pitch.
That's been my approach so far, at least. And I think it serves Paizo well in the long run anyway, since they have to publish the top vote-getter. So, it's important to give everyone enough time to make something great, which they can then craft into a sales-generating product for them.
Hoping the gentlemen are all doing well, no nervous breakdowns or tearing out what's left of their hair, and that you're all going to make us agonize over our vote yet again!
I don't have enough hair left to spare. So...no nervous breakdowns. Just plenty of soul-searching for something I'd enjoy spinning into a full adventure...and that I hope will appeal to the judges, the voters, and (if it wins) the buying public.
Just my two-cents,

Actually, while I had to double check the schedule yesterday when no new submissions showed up on the same schedule as they had previously, I amd glad for the longer time period this round. In fact, I think it would have been better to have a longer time for the contestants on all of the previous rounds. This would have probably allowed some of the submissions that seemed rushed to have had enough time to develop more fully, and as an observer for the contest, it would have spaced out my time in reading all the submissions in time for voting. I know that each round, all of my normal activities have gotten squeezed for time to fit in the extra time to read all the submissions for RPG Superstar.
