The aquatic elf laughs. You should being careful of that octopus. He is loving to beg food. He is not being leave you alone if he thinking you feed him.
"I can see that," he chuckles. "You're in the water with the lobsters, my friend. I'm sure you're better at catching them than me."
Okay, really out now. Gotta break up two of my cats who are trying to kill each other....argh. Later! :)

lynora |

Hey where is everyone?
Well, everybody got a bit distracted yesterday with discussing politics. (I never discuss politics if I can help it. Too much arguing.) And I was busy doing family stuff. But I'm back now. I'm babysitting tonight, so other than having to break up the occasional fight, I'm going to need whatever distraction I can find :)

The 8th Dwarf |

Hey where is everyone?
A rough and wild looking dwarf, trudges through the trees. After looking around for a moment finds a nice looking ancient cedar near the water, and pulls out his Axe and lays it on the ground.
He sits with his back to the tree in the soft dappled light and starts to snore...

I got involved in that discussion, but ended up feeling like I was stuck on a merry-go-round with no way off, that wasn't so merry.

That's why I gave up. It grew away from the original debate.

Mirathan |

Mirathan swims deep and spots an odd fish. A rare sea species. Why is it here in the fresh water? It begins to thrash in the new environment. He grabs it in his net and hastily takes it back thru the gate to the sea realm.
As soon as he frees the creature he is attacked by a greak white shark. Instead of being engulfed or bitten he is rammed in the back, breaking his spine.
How odd he thinks, as he sinks. The shark moves in for the kill.
Mirathan's lifeless body floats back thru the portal and up to the surface of the Oasis pond.

Nimora Orlbereth |

Nimora screams as she sees Mirathan's body. She tries to help him, but he is beyond help. She turns to the lady of this place, all attempts at speaking in common forgotten and says in Aquaan,
"If there is anything you can do for him, then do it. Otherwise I will attend to the burial when I return."
She picks up her trident and dives deep into the pool looking for whatever creature killed Mirathan.

Mirathan |

Nimora dives deep and comes to the barrier that separates fresh from sea. Swimming thru it she sees a large shark swimming in the area, searching the blood-stained water for the prey that should be here. The beast's teeth match the wounds on Mirathan.
The beast turns to Nimora, gaining speed and opening its large mouth.

Nimora Orlbereth |

Nimora snarled with anger. It was foolish to face down such a large shark alone, but she was the best warrior of her tribe and this shark had just killed one she considered a friend. She readied her trident against the charging shark and prepared to dodge its charge as best she could. She aimed to drive the tines of her trident deep into its gills. She knew her aim was true, but could she dodge fast enough?

Mirathan |

The beast charges. It is larger and faster than Nimora realized. Time seems to slow. She sees the lifeless black of its eyes, contrasted by the white of its enormous teeth. Inbedded in those teeth she sees bits of Mirathan's blue flesh.
The mouth is also a lot bigger than she expects. Where she expected to dodge and strike the side she is barely able to avoid being swallowed whole. This beast could have easily swallowed Mirathan, and no one would have known. She pierces the inside of the beast's mouth, losing her trident in the process, and scrapes her skin against its as she dodges. The stupid beast clamps down on the weapon, driving into its own brain.
Nimora follows the beast to the bottom as it goes thru its death throes. She sees Mirathan's trident on the sea floor as she waits to retrieve her own.

Nimora Orlbereth |

Nimora keeps a cautious eye on the dying shark as she swims to retrieve Mirathan's trident. He should have it with him. In case they couldn't call him back to the living. And in case they could for that matter. She intends to wait until the shark is dead, retrieve her own trident, and then take both of them back to the oasis...

Assuming that scream was above water (which it may not be since the portal is at the bottom of the pool), I'm guessing Devlyn and Allura come running from wherever they are in the Oasis to investigate.
If not, then I guess they're resting. I'm still trying to catch up from the weekend's posts though, so let me know if I'm missing something... :)

Yes, the scream was above water. She screamed when she saw the body which wasn't until it floated to the surface. She's been staying near the surface most of the time so that she can talk to people and look for some way she can help.

Just wanted to make sure - thank you ma'am! :)
Then Devlyn will stop whatever he's doing, race over there to find out what happened, pull Mirathan's body out of the water then wrap him in a cloak, waiting for Sirone's response to Nimora's request.

The Seductress |

I don't know how well I'll be able to get on-line and involved for awhile. I've been having problems with my internet connectivity, and the touchpad on my laptop has stopped working about half the time, so even when I can get on-line it's hit or miss on whether I can actually do anything. Please feel free to go on without me if you need to.

Sirone, Mistress of the Waves |

Nimora screams as she sees Mirathan's body. She tries to help him, but he is beyond help. She turns to the lady of this place, all attempts at speaking in common forgotten and says in Aquaan,
"If there is anything you can do for him, then do it. Otherwise I will attend to the burial when I return."
She picks up her trident and dives deep into the pool looking for whatever creature killed Mirathan.
"I shall try," Sirone says. She waves her hands over the body and mumbles some words in a language that was ancient at the founding of the world. Finally she finishes. "I have done all I can, the rest is up to him." If E7 wants Mirathan to wake up, he will. Otherwise, his spirit has chosen not to return.

Well crap - it's definitely Monday... :P
Alright, we'll work with it as best we can. Hopefully you can get the internet issue sorted out.

Devlyn gears up while Sirone is working her ancient magic.
"Guess it's time to try out this new little trick. I'll make sure Nimora's okay."With that, Devlyn dives in the water and activates his amulet. Not seeing Nimora anywhere nearby, he proceeds to swim down farther...

The Dalesman |

Nimora is wrenching her trident from the body of a dead shark. Mirathan's trident is slung across her back so she can have both hands free to work. As soon as she frees her own weapon she swims back across the portal into the fresh water of the oasis.
As Nimora crossed the portal back into the Oasis pool, she sees Devlyn swimming down toward the bottom.
"Are you okay? Is there something down here?" he blubs out as best he can

His last thought was about the large shark Mirathan awakens from the sleep of death...
Watch out!
Err...Where am I?

Nimora Orlbereth |

Nimora breaks the surface of the water, trident still in hand. Most of the gore has already washed off of it. She is bleeding a little from a cut along her arm, but she hasn't yet noticed.
Mirathan! she cries, suddenly all smiles to see him restored to life.
I is being so happy see you! Here is your trident, she says pulling it from the sling at her back and handing it over, That was being one big, fast shark. I is being very lucky not to be second snack. It is being very dead now.

The Dalesman |

The Dalesman wrote:"I am being mostly unhurt. Come, following me." With that she continues on her way to the surface.
As Nimora crossed the portal back into the Oasis pool, she sees Devlyn swimming down toward the bottom.

He follows her back to the surface. When they get there, they see Mirathan sitting up, looking a bit wild-eyed and confused.
"Good to have you back in the land of the living, Mirathan!" as Devlyn gets out of the water and claps him on the shoulder.
"Now tell us what happened down there. What's this about a shark, and is there a portal down there?"
Hands Nimora a healing potion.

Nimora Orlbereth |

Nimora looks askance at the Dalesman.
Of course there is being portal down there. How else we get here? Cannot be walking dry land. Too far.
There was being big, fast shark on other side. Had pieces of Mirathan still in teeth. Got trident in mouth instead of second elf snack. Is being dead now.
Looks at healing potion in confusion before she finally notices that she is bleeding.
I is grateful for your help, she says graciously before drinking the potion.

Tomorrow I am going to buy an optical mouse that plugs into a USB port. Does anyone know if that will work if the touchpad isn't responding? I know that it will work if it is just locked.

"Hey - I'm just making sure that it's a portal that's supposed to be there" he says as she drinks the potion.
"I'm just glad the two of you are alright now. Do you think it was just a random occurence, or do you think there was something else at work here?"

It depends on whether the Device Manager is having a problem with the pointing devices or not. If there's no problem there, the mouse should work (admittedly hard to check without a working cursor, unless you want to [tab] around via keyboard). If you know anyone who has a USB mouse that you can borrow for a minute, you could test it out to be sure.

It should work. I know that we made it work for one of our old computers after the touchpad broke. Good luck sorting out the technical troubles.

I don't think it's the device manager. The bloody thing works, sometimes. It just likes to cut out at bad moments, like when I'm running an adventure, and it's the only one of the entire AP that I missed placed the hard copy of. For example, it was working when I started typing the message, but by the end it wasn't.

Gotcha. The mouse should be fine as a workaround then. This is why I'm not fond of touchpads personally :)
