To all those who carry iPhones or iPod Touch...
Here's a kickass app, especially if you play a spellcaster (wiz/sor/pal/rgr/clr/drd/brd) that one of my gaming buddies created. He just got it approved for sale on the iTunes store.
Here's the link:
http://www.rpgtouch.com/Grimoire.html
Hopefully this will get updated for PRPG down the road, but right now, it's based on 3.5/SRD.
Cheers!

He would sell a ton more if he made it 1 dollar instead of 5.
Do some research on the App store stats and I bet he would come to the same conclusion. I'm not saying his work isn't worth 5 dollars, for the record.
Basically, when a product has a marginal per-unit distribution cost of zero, the company makes more money if they charge less. And 1 dollar apps sell like hotcakes in the app store.

Hi, thanks PDK for posting this for me, while I will shamelessly self promote, I appreciate when others share what I've created.
I've honestly been pondering how to put the rest of the SRD in, but I wonder what format would people like to see, and what specific information do you want access to?

That is pretty, but is the app available or usable for other touch screen devices? The iPhone gets a lot of press, but t's not the only game in town. My LG Vu feels lonely without the grimoire now.
I wish I could help, I'm afraid the iPhone/iPod Touch have their own unique development kit, and I can't easily port the code to other platforms. Alas I am one man, with a day job :)

Does iPhone let you access locally stored HTML files using the file:/// path that the MacOSX safari does? If so I'd imagine you could 'donate' to get a local copy of Jans Carton's d20srd.org pages and put on your phone.
It isn't so easy to get stuff on to the phone, but there is probably a way that one could package that content onto the iphone/ipod touch through the app store.
That being said, while it would be nice to have the whole SRD, it may be that some portion of it might be indexed in a more useful way at the table (much like the SORD product over on Drive Thru RPG.)
I will look into both, if someone doesn't beat me to it :)

Good luck on your project. I'll be waiting on a price drop before I consider this purchase. And I want this to be constructive, so here are some suggestions:
1) Pathfinder rules? You are on a PF board after all. =)
2) Price drop, as previously mentioned.
3) Since it is a grimore, how about a spell-book manager / spell-memorized manager?
4a) This is outside of the scope of your program, but I've always wondered why there are no "magic shop" generators out there? Especially since PF's world is so magic item heavy? Would be cool as a DM to click on a generator when players enter a city and allow them to see what items are on sale in that city? (the players have the option to try and get an item made via commission, but they should come at a very steep markup, imo) There could also be a list of "items wanted" and allow the PCs to sell their items at a higher price than normal...

Just waiting a) they are out of beta, b) some one more courageous then myself types in the beta data, c) divine entities offer up the data as if a gift from the gods.
2) Price drop, as previously mentioned.
Nothing here I can say that wouldn't offend, or upset someone, so I will remain mum on pricing.
3) Since it is a grimore, how about a spell-book manager / spell-memorized manager?
Already in the pipeline, can't promise a release date, but in the pipeline.

I bought it...
Generally well done! I'll be the envy of my group. :-)
I do have a couple of suggestions, as someone just finishing an iPhone app myself:
-- The background could be *slightly* (and I mean slightly) higher transparency to make text easier to read.
-- The nonstandard cleric domains like "Artifice" only have listed the spells uniquely found in that domain. I'd really prefer if you listed all 9 spells like the standard domains.
-- The Creation domain has genesis listed twice.
-- The Black Guard spell list has only only 1 spell. In contrast, the bard, ranger etc have all the spells for their spell list. Oops.
-- Might I suggest that epic level spells should have "Level: Epic" or something similar. Alas, the XP, Material costs for epic spells are not in the description, which is too bad. Not that I'm ever casting those! But my NPCs might like to know ;-)
PS. Don't listen to whoever said to price it $1. People who have iPhones are not paupers, producing apps isn't necessarily cheap (unless you and your friends are doing the programming yourselves), and the market is a niche market to say the least. $5 is just right.

Great stuff! How did you come up with your logo?
The name I came up with first and I ended up seeking professional help from logoworks.com
They really helped me work through the creative process and come out with something awesome, on a shoe string budget.

Thanks, I will add those to the list and I appreciate the encouragement. The programming is "free" but that is because there is only one guy who works here and thats me :) but between my day job, my new son and my gaming group there is only so many hours in the day. Since it is just me I can't make any promises when I will get my next update out, but I want to finish my second app first.
The second app I won't give to much away, other then that it will be both 3.5 and Pathfinder when it comes out. Grimoire will also be updated to include pathfinder spells after beta.
Again thanks for the help!

Sorry for the delay, but there should be an update soon. I've fixed Creation and the Blackguard spell lists. I will deal with Artifice as well. I will scan through each of the other domains as I can.
As for the background, would you rather a) just lighten it b) a toggle to turn it off c) a slider to set the opacity?

I LOVE this idea! I've tried to do it in-game for nearly 20 years and it's just too time consuming to do with pencil and paper. I've always hated how bland item shops end up being when characters have their "shopping list" ready before they even go in. I like to add flavor, such as certain shops "specialties and special offers". Even something to simply randomly generate a list of items that might be available, within a certain gp limit, would be really nice.

Jacking with Pax
So, basically, your question is where to get the best deal on an iPhone? (I'd personally recommend the iPhone over the iTouch just because you can do so much with it, but maybe it is more economical to get an iTouch if you don't need a new phone and aren't willing to pay for more expensive service.) And my answer (have someone give it to you for your birthday) is probably not going to be helpful, although again, I recommend it...hmm, let me consult She Who is Goddess of iPhones and see what she or her brother-in-law, He Who is God of Buying Techno-gadgets, have to say about it.
