So we see that V really does have children (not his/her's spell books). Now I'm really interested in what happenns next.
Out of spells will V turn to the imp for help? Or will at the last second will s/he figure out those four words of power? Or will we get to see an elf skin hat?

All of the above. V will say something to the imp out of desperation, like 'how can I learn?' or something. Four words. To the right being.

Remind me: "four words"?
The Oracle's answer to V's question "How will I achieve total mastery of magic?" was "By saying the right four words to the right person at the right time for all the wrong reasons".

I don't think the words will be to the imp. I'm not sure how that will lead to his mastery of ultimate arcane power. It could be indirect, as in saying those words to the imp will begin the process to gaining ultimate arcane power (at the hands of the imp's master or the like), but it seems a stretch to me. Plus, he's supposed to say the right words to the right being, for all the wrong reasons. Saying it to the imp now seems like the right reasons, for me.
I think V's family is going to get wasted/nearly wasted, and V will fall/nearly fall in his pursuit of the power to save them. But, I do agree that this looks to be the beginning of the path which will lead to the fulfillment of that prophecy.
