Wildshape changes you creature type ?

Classes: Cleric, Druid, and Paladin

Sorry if its been asked before went looking but couldn't find an answer

Does Wildshape change your type to the type of creature you change into.

I.e. you change into a bear you change to the animal type and can now be effected by spells that affect animals etc

Or do you retain your own type reguardless ?

I thought I read you gain the shapchanger subtype using wildshape but I couldn't find where/if I read that

Thanks

**EDIT***

Just Hi-jacking my own thread quick question again on wildshape. Do you apply size bonuses to Attk and AC when you change size

e.g.
medium druid -> Large Bear would take -1 attk and -1AC for being a Large creature ? That is on top of the STR/DEX modifcations of the wildshape spell ?

1)Since Wild Shape now works like the various Beast Shape, Plant Shape, and Elemental Body spells, we have to look at the description of the various Polymorph subschool spells. And they say:

(page 159)
"A polymorph spell transforms your physical body to take on the shape of another creature. While these spells make you appear to be the creature, granting you a +20 bonus on Disguise skill checks, they do not grant you all of the abilities and powers of the creature. Each polymorph spell allows you to assume the form of a creature of a specific type, granting you a number of bonuses to your ability scores and a bonus to your natural armor. In addition, each polymorph spell can grant you a number of other benefits, including movement types, resistances, and senses."
Changing type is not mentioned, so it's easy to assume that you always keep your original type, despite the changing in form (in fact, you do not automatically gain all the abilities of the form you are assuming; as a Fire Elemental, for example you do not gain total immunity to Fire, only Fire Resistance 20 - see Elemental Body I-IV on page 224-225).

2)on page 159, the description of the Polymorphing subschool spells continues:
"If a polymorph spell causes you to change size, apply the size modifiers appropriately, changing your armor class, attack bonus, combat maneuver bonus, and Stealth skill modifiers. You ability scores are not modified by this change unless noted by the spell."
So basically, yes, changing from Medium to Large size gives you an additional -1 to hit, -1 to AC, +1 to CMB, and -4 to Stealth (for example).

Thanks for that

As with so many things its in the finer detail of the wording that all answers are found :)

Although Interestingly that means that the bonuses you get from going large are somewhat offset by the attk/AC nerfs , Huge even moreso

e.g.
Earth Elemental +8STR (+4attk) +6Nat AC however -2attk -2AC so overall +3attk +4AC

Interesting

Yes, bonuses to Hit and to AC are very similar overall. You can take a peek at a high level Druid here, and see that all his bonuses are included in a small range.
