Pathfinder Writing Club: Solace for the Non-32

RPG Superstar™ 2009 General Discussion

The Exchange

Admittedly, I am more of a writer than a gaming guru. RPG Superstar? Perhaps not. Here is a new direction I would like to try.

My name is Ted and I have decided to write stories around the world of Pathfinder. I am also looking for others that have the same intention. If you wish to make a career being a writer, I would be happy to work with you on this project.

This will be an amateur effort with no possibility of publishing. The goal is to focus our skills in writing and sharpen our knowledge of Galorian.... in a "fan" related manner. This club is welcome to everyone.

The club would critique each other's writing and provide insight to all members.

I have decided to do this because of RPG Superstar 2009. I think many of you out there have what it takes to be excellent writers, but perhaps aren't gifted or experienced enough in 3.5/PRPG game mechanics to ever pass the scrutiny of the judges (of that system).

Basically gang, this would be the best way to get in on the ground floor of preparing to write for Pathfinder. I am not saying anything will come of this, but why wait till the novel line is legitimized. Paizo has their plans and will carry them out as they see fit. But why wait till then? We can create our own excitement here. We can practice at making better submissions. We can even critique the work that has already been published.

Let's get this thing going.

Naturally Vic, we would run this through you before anything concrete goes up. If we have to we can change the names and such.

Cheers,
Zuxius

There is an identical post that has been put up in the Pathfinder General thread as well.

I'm intrigued by this. (Hi my name is Dean by-the-way) and I've always had a dream of being a writer (of basically Sci-Fi or Fantasy) and writing in the world of Golarion would sure satisfy that dream.

Keep me in the loop. I'd love to get something going with this.

Thanks,

Dean; the Minstrel Wyrm

Hello Dean!

Thanks for responding. I will definitely keep posting about this project. I will be searching in the weeks ahead for a core of builders to construct a site. The goal will be to create a stimulating environment for everyone interested in writing about Golarion (sorry Paizo for my earlier typo). At the moment I am brainstorming for ideas and welcome your ideas and everyone else that might throw their 2 cents in.

I will talk to you soon Minstrel Wyrm of the Dean!

Here is the idea for what I would like the group to do. I gave it a shiny "changeable" name.

Pathfinder Chroniclers

About Us:
We, the Pathfinder Chroniclers are a group of professional and non-professional writers creating works based on Paizo’s Pathfinder world of Golarion. Our goal is to create “publishable works” which we can proudly present on our website. We will focus on writing and critiquing each other so that we may grow as writers and improve in our craft. The emphasis of our group will be to keep each other on topic and within Paizo’s established Pathfinder setting.

Cheers,
Zux

Oook Guys. Website building is now underway. I have the forums up and running, though I will not reveal them till certain law abiding thoughts are put to rest.

I have decided to name the site "Pathfinder Chronicler" (working title). I am pretty happy about the forums and the theme, and that is important to me. I do believe that the bulk of the fun will be had in these forums.

Vic!
I am also wondering if the site uses the words Pathfinder + Chronicler will there be any Paizo entanglements? So far there is nothing other than the title to tresspass. I have not lifted any art or copyrighted material.

I am anxious, but always willing to abide by Paizo lawyers.

Cheers,
Zux

Pending what the Paizonians say, I am totally in. My goal behind earning some attention as a designer is to progress into writing novels. The more momentum I can gain, and the more I learn on the way to that goal, the better.

I'd be interested in this, as it gives me the perfect opportunity to find out more about the game world.

Anyone familiar with the "1632" series and the Grantville Gazettes?

You would need official Paizo support to apply this model, and I suspect they're already up to their eyebrows in work, but it's something to lobby for.

(edit, sorry, can't get the link to work but my techfu is ever so weak...)

Hi Zux (Ted), Steve, Lipto, and Hal.
Looks like we have the beginnings of a nice group. This whole idea is very appealing, and I really look forward to what grows from it.

Cheers!

I'm interested in this as well. I do technical writing by trade and VERY much welcome an organized opportunity to do some creative writing.

Let me know, what you need to know.

So long as you follow the soon-to-be-released Community Use Policy, it won't be a problem.

Is it likely to come out before the end of the month or it is more likely to be released in February (or some other time)?

Wow! Cool! Thank You Everyone!

This is a surprise.

Thank You Vic for not taking a very cryptic approach.

Well, there is a lot to do between now and February....and it sure isn't writing. My mySQL world shoire looks big-like.

Once again, visit Pathfinder Chronicler Forums.

Give me your thoughts. We have a ways to go in building our writer's home. The website design is still being thought out, and YOU can make a difference if you throw in your copper. I am open to hear just about anything that one wants to piut forth.

I'm crazy like that.

Well, I accomplished more work on the site last night. I am more focused on themes than content for the moment. I like pleasing sites to work on and in. So the theme (or look) is right, now to get the thing to actually do something.

Cheers,
Zuixius
