Dead Reckoning PBP looking for players

Gamer Connection

We've got four of the original players and one who joined before the PCs cleared out a lost temple of Aroden in the sands north of Katheer. Now that they're in the city I thought we'd add a couple of more. So far we have an evoker (Puslifer), a summoner(Aref and native to Katheer), a fighter(Syd), and a rogue/cleric of Pharasma(The Deceiver aka Cordoba). Other than Aref all hail from Varisia.

The game has some history - I think we're up over 2000 posts somewhere. Posts seem to go in bursts.

Presently they're looking for a pirate who needs killing and have recently ruffled the feathers of a body snatching demon. I see possession of a pirate ship in one of their possible futures and passage to Absalom is probable, although players are prone to unpredictable decisions....

The game is totally free form. We make it up as we go - I map it myself.

PFRPG. Additional game rules can be had here, on the DM persona page. Character creation is listed, except they are currently third level and looking at fourth soon.

The game thread is here.

The discussion thread is here

First come first served.

It's an awesome game. Come join us. I promise you we won't backstab you or eat you or turn you into bacon or sell you into slavery. That's the job of the villain of this game.

Kruelaid, how many blokes you looking for?

1 or 2 should do it

I could be interested.
What class would you need ?
I get this idea for a gnome druid ....

Druid is no problem. Evironment: they're currently in a desert next to a major river.

Whatever you want is fine. I only posted the classes of the guys we have for information purposes - no plans to limit anyone interested.

A few additional facts about the game: we've got two guys who use English as a second language, one impeccably and the other to occasionally humorous effect. We are major slackers at posting now and then cuz we all have busy lives, but we have heart. Because of the pace I stopped dishing out XPs and will just call a level up when people start jonesing to develop their characters.

Due to rabid early posting the thread is somehow number ten by sheer count.

Descriptions are vivid but not always grammatically correct due to my time constraints and the mapping is usually way cool due to my having a work related handle on Adobe Illustrator:

Lost Temple

Crypts

Sphinx

Vert Map - Don't Fall

Rest Stop

Beached

Let us know, you've got your pick around here.

I'd like to throw in, if there's still space. I'd like to play a human monk who has chosen to follow the precepts of Cayden Cailean, in a rather unorthodox choice of role-models. His creed is In Vino Veritas, and he believes that it is in a loss of control that one gains true insight.

What level should we make characters?

ok I 'll create it as soons as I can ( today or tomorrow)

Damn, it seems like I always see these too late. If there is room I am interested.

I've been thinking of a halfling paladin of Shelyn.

Kruelaid, those are some cool maps. I'm trying to figure out how to make nice maps in either Dunjinni or Gimp.

Hey Rimrock, I have a game I am running also that is in need of a couple players and I was getting ready to open it up to the public for 2 people. If Kruely is full here now I would love to have you. A halfling paladin would fit in well with them also. Check out the discussion page here. They just finished up a slightly modified Hollow's Last Hope and are moving into another Gamemastery module that I am gonna modify a lot. 2nd level currently. Let me know if you are interested on the discussion page.

Here is the game thread. I try to give good description and I use a lot of maps (not as good as Kreuly's but pretty nice in their own right) and I try to integrate story items that each PC will find attractive and will help develop the PC.

Awesome, Fakey. I actually lurked on that thread for awhile, it looks like a very fun game.

It probably makes sense to go with your game since there are already 2 ahead of me here.

I'll get back to you soon...

EDIT: Is it Crown of the Kobold King? I've read that, just to let you know...

In a totally altered and mostly unrecognizable way, yes it is, among other things.

So should I continue this on your discussion thread Fakey?

Yes please, I don't wanna steal Kreuly's thread.

Our thread.

It's all good.

Finding games for everyone, all cool.

Illustrator does vector graphics, GIMP pixel - just like photoshop. You can do maps on both but the bold cartoony look I get is distinctively vector sketching.

On Kruelaid's bio page you'll find two grid overlays that you can put over whatever you want, one in .ai for Illustrator and the other .psd for Photoshop or GIMP.

It'll save you some time if you're just beginning.

Robin and James, great.

Whoo ha! I'll have the finalized character ready for you in about 12 hours or so. Do we start at 2nd or 3rd level? And how much gold do we start with? And can I have a pony?

3rd level PHB gold buy whatever you like a pony is free.

The characters have some magic they picked up but gave away their gold and gems to help get some enslaved kids back to Varisia.

They are however carrying a priceless gem which when the bring it to the temple of Iomedae is probably going to enrich them above their level. I just wasn't thinking when I let them get it.

Whether or not they'll share that loot with you is up to them.

Hehe...

I'd like to present Domo, wide-eyed dreamer and deadly human weapon.

Cool. I love monks.

"My little pony, my little pony..."

Ok, give me a bit to think about slipping him in, or make a suggestion if you're already on it. They're in the slums outside Katheer on their way to Draka the Wide's tavern to flop in his basement and await the opening of the city gates in the morning.

I have a busy day so I'll get back to you in 12 hours probably.

Well, I purposely left where his last employer ditched him blank... He would probably be drinking in a tavern, staying in a pretty cheap inn, cruising the streets watching for evil to thwart, that sort of thing. Most of his life experience is formed by a really bad pulp comic book.

Okay I got the hook.

So Brother Domo is staying at Draka the Wide's Tavern, about the only tavern in the hives that ISN'T stocked with scum and villainy. It's walled, has a good bar, a barn and always well stocked manger. Your pony is very choosy about where he stays and favors Draka's.

Domo is heading inside the walls the next day for... whatever reason.

Another good guy - nice! :D

Reread Aref's post. Draka's is a dive. But hey, hey loves animals because the manger is almost as nice as the tavern. You're already in. Intro post shortly.

Robin?

Presenting Hoktsumisso
I'm working on him . He should be soon finished

There nearly done
Just need some information about what magic items I can buy with my strating money and where we are at the moment ?

Fantastic.

  • You are in Katheer.
  • Currently, everyone in staying in the slums outside of the city walls. These slums districts are called "The Hives"
  • At a tavern called Draka's.
  • There is a bunch of background info to be had about Katheer in the last 2 pages of the game thread. (link at top of this page)

There's all kinds of additional information on Pharasma's bio page.

    Get whatever you want.

    All finished then

Excellent. I don't usually check the math on PCs. It's up to you.

Before I write up the next DM post do Brother Domo and Hoktsumisso have any interest in being comrades in arms?

Well , I doubt they are buddies but they can have travelled together coming to town

    Liberty's Edge

    Dig the new blood, man.

Now, lacking any quick and easy means to write them in, guess I'm gonna have to use the blade.

Robin and James, I'll slip you guys in on my next post in the game thread (link above).

You are sitting around a mat in a Kelish cantina in Katheer with some lamb, hummus, rice and ale (eating with your fingers) - and listening to a three man band while you watch Akilara the belly dancer do her thing. Some Varisians come walking through the hall, disappear through a back door, and come back out later to sit at the mat next to you.

Can you each post a perception roll, please.
