Seriously though, all overreaction aside, let's get to some actual serious issues:

Where are Seelah, Kyra, Amiri, Merisiel and Harsk on Seoni's "Naughty or Nice" list?

I have votes in for Sajan and Seltyiel as my cabana boys. Valeros is a fine addition too.

Oh, and speaking of male fanservice, someone please point that guy to the scantily clad fellow in Crown of the Kobold King.

Your milage will vary. (I mean the guy is no Harsk, after all)

Dude was wearing less than Seoni though. Heck, he practically shared Thais' wardrobe.

And James, Sarah, you hear this? Folks are pretty much Begging me to write an art order featuring Seltyiel with his shirt off. See, not for me. For the readers.

On the beach! With Harsk applying the suntan lotion!

Liberty's Edge

Thanks for the e-card Paizoites!

I'd just like to say that I wasn't at all offended by the content. I thought it was a nice play on various levels.

That d7 person is really clutching at straws in being offended by it. But, you know, some people don't get out much.

I dunno about the rest of you guys, but I am both brainy and a sex object. >:D

Please see this thread for why, yes, d7 might have a valid argument to consider: Go to Paizo Publishing.

I'm glad that, at least by this point in the thread, people are observing that beefcake art might have been equally appropriate from a politically liberal gaming company.

That Seltyiel looks like he uses Factor 100.

I don't think the beach is his thing.

More likely to be shut in his bedroom, listening to the Sisters of Mercy.

Seltyiel uses my Total Sunblock. Rather effective, what-what?

First off, Paizo should do what makes Paizo money while respecting their fanbase. If it makes sense to have naked men running around, then they should do it. If the do it to prove a political philosophy, well, that seems like a road that can easily lead to madness.

Now, as to d7 having a valid argument, I can't agree. Had the point been, "Paizo should have more male beefcake shots just to make everyone happy," then yeah, that's a valid opinion to express. The point that was made though was that Paizo is exploiting women, has had a history of exploiting women, and is probably racist on top of everything else. That's just trying to drum up controversy.

I don't know, maybe he does. The fact that he bolstered his edit comment by calling Tarren Dei a "self important jerk" kinda makes me feel like his whole riff is set up to arbitrarily dictate the results of whatever argument transpires. He trolled his own damn blog from the get go, and then, with glasses dangling on the end of his nose, deigned to counsel all of the unwashed benighted paizonians how to comment on his enlightened blog thread. So "self important jerk?" Hello, kettle. This is pot.

Liberty's Edge

What's more, if I called somebody a self-important jerk here, I might get flagged. He's stirring up controversy.

Dark Archive

I just want to say, (i'm not speaking for anyone but myself here) that i thought the "Seasonal Seoni" wasn't distasteful, and i liked it.

Keep up the great job, Paizo! I sincerely hope that a single blogger doesn't affect future things you (Paizo) decide to do.

Liberty's Edge

I thought it was great--I think we need to keep in mind the array of the iconics: Yes, Seoni is super sexy, but she is only *one* of the awesome iconics (Desna bless Wayne Reynolds)... anyway, and as a whole, they span a wide array of archtypes--which is how they were intended, ya? Does she appear in a lot of Pathfinder imagery? Yes, but they all do. ... In this case I also think part of the look of the artwork gives a great kind of tongue in cheek nod to Americana: the vintage nose art off of warplanes (via Vargas) and many other classic holiday images ... 'cause we're all adults here, right? Surely we have better things to do this season than bicker over POV!

Amen. *goes back to make more Pathfinder fan art*

I'm still amazed that none of you have caught the feminist sub-text of that image. Seoni is dressed up as santa. Santa is a fat man who slides down chimneys, invading the hearth and home (a feminine domain in our culture) to empty his sack producing lots of joyful children -- a prioritization of the male role in procreation if I've ever heard one. Santa is sexist. Seoni is producing a radical parody of that.

I for one wish Paizo would stop sending out feminist Christmas cards while I'm trying to enjoy my holidays!

EDIT: Also, Seoni's hot.

This is so . . . absurd, as to defy credulity. I hardly know where to begin.

First, according to that blog post, the person has a Paizo account for the Pathfinder Beta rules. That would generally suggest the person is completely unaware of the iconics other than any appearances in that book.

Of course the entry ends with noting that Paizo is "known" for such things, which seems to suggest some sort of exposure to the content of Paizo products.

For proof of that, just look at this thread. Seriously people, if you want to prove someone without a point might have some vague legitimacy you could not do better than some of the over the top stuff being thrown about to try and "rebut" him here and in his blog.

Then of course there is his link to his other blog entry about "white privilege". Excuse me while I disembowel myself out of sheer guilt at being lighter skinned. Oh wait, that's right, I am Jewish, never mind. No wait, I get to be condemned for other things, I forgot. Excuse me instead while I projectile barf until my floor is coated with my intestines. I could rant about that for several dozen pages. Then again, I am the person who regularly points out that racially speaking, Greyhawk has Semites or Hellenes (Oeridians are olive-skinned) as the primary good guys, Nordics (Suloise are very pale, albeit very slim) as the primary bad guys and savages, and Africans (the Flan are copper- to bronze-skinned, which is more African that Native American) as the marginalized middle types that everyone gravitates to anyway, with some bizarre Asians (the Baklunish are golden yellow, not actual Asian "yellow") on the fringe. Of course culturally they are supposed to be something else, but never let a good racial conspiracy get in the way of actual text.

The picture is worth a raised eyebrow.
The blog is worth two.
Ranting about it just lends it legitimacy.
Feh.

Santa Claus is a real PrC, which Seoni has 5 levels of. She's looking forward to the next level, when she can teleport down multiple chimneys simultaneously.

Would it be wrong if I went onto that blog and said "Hi I'm Kevin Mack welcome to earth."

Seriously I decided to do a little test since this thing is supposed to be so offensive to females I asked several of my female relatives (9 in all) to have a look at it. None of them found it offensive one actually commented with "Oh please you see more skin on the front cover of the daily star."

It is hilarious, and also a little disturbing. Might be the huuuuge sword. Or the codpiece. Seriously. It's bulging and has studs on it. And something that looks a lot like a piercing is dangling underneath. Makes you wonder whether that's part of the armour.
