Standard full attacks for full BAB chars.

Combat

I am sorry if this was written somewhere else, I did not see it.

Sometime ago in another discussion it was mentioned that a full attack action should be a standard action for characters with full BAB. I really like this as it provides mobility and a level of threat to the melee classes.

This also makes the enemy casters know that they are not safe(er) from the melee's so long as they can move more than 5' away from them each round. They know it is better to give up one AoO and make them move to you to get one attack the next round than to stand there and let them have all their iterative attacks. So as a caster it is smarter to back up 10 + feet, take the AoO, and blast away. That way the melee is constantly chasing the caster....in effect being "kited" (to use a WoW term).

I like the idea of some characters being able to full attack as a standard action, but I'm not sure about giving it part and parcel to all full BAB classes. I think this would make a great Fighter ability (or Fighter feat).

This is not something else that should be limited to JUST fighters.

Then why limit it to just full BAB characters?

The problem with that concept would the same than for other general class abilities :
How would you deal with multiclass characters ?
For example, would you apply this to a Rogue 5/Fighter 1 ?
That would be another bad opportunity for players to class dip for munchkinism...

Well you could give fighters this one, and also introduce some rage-power mechanic for Barbarian's. So fighters get to do there whole thing, while Barbarian's have to sacrifice the use of another special ability to do a full attack.

Paladin's and Rangers, I got nothing, sorry.

Consider this.

Full attack as a full round action: Dragon moves to attack range and bites you.

Full attack as a standard action: Dragon moves to attack range and bites you, takes two claw attacks at you, two wing attacks at you, and a tail slap at you, finally cleaving the guy next to you because you're dead.

I like the idea - and I wouldn't limit it to "full BAB" character classes.

Simply those with BAB of 6 or higher get to make full attacks when moving.

That being said - full BAB characters will reach that nadir much faster.

Otherwise it drastically makes a seperation in power from the fighter types over the rogue and cleric. Finally multiclassed fighters would really convolute the equation.

Of course as someone just pointed out....

The huge dragon swoops in on his 150' flight movement and bites, makes two claw attack, 2 wing buffets, a tail slap and uses his quickened breath feat!!!

That DOES tend to open up a whole lot of whoopa$$ capability!!! :-)
