I'll tell you what! PANTS! There is no magic item slot for pants.
Sure, you can have a belt of giant strength to hold'em up, you can and you can have boots of elvenkind to tuck the cuffs into (if that's the way you roll - I'm not judging here), but your actual pants (stylish or no) cannot bear any sort of magical enhancement.
Why is that? Is there some sort of interference generated by zippers and button flys that prevents the safe enchantment of clothing for your lower body? Is it a conspiracy created by kilt-wearing aberrations from beyond the stars? What?
Seriously, I think that we should consider adding this as an item slot. Stop leg discrimination now!

The entire UK role-playing population (and quite possibly a lot of the Commonwealth players too) are thankful that there is no "pants" slot, considering that "pants" only refers to underwear and not to trousers, as the United States seems to insist on doing so.
I for one am glad that there are no "pants of protection", as I could not take them seriously! :)

Well obviously, the lack of a pants slot implies that you can wear as many pairs of overlapping magical pants as you want.
Which is why succubi are so dangerous. Step 1: Convince the mortal to go skinny-dipping with you. Step 2: Have your balor buddy steal the mortal's numerous pairs of magical pants while he's naked in the water.
It's a little known fact about the Blood War that aptitude at magical pants theft is one of the demons' main advantages. Right now, there's a devil somewhere saying, "These demons are painfully disorganized, but they sure do have some fine pants!"

Great post!
I used to use an old Judges Guild product from Pegasus magazine that included random tables for rolling up all kinds of clothing magical items. There was more than one set of magical trousers rolled up over the years using that source material.
*sigh*
Them were da good'ol 'ays!

And what about magic undies?
No seriously. Magic pants might throw the slots off, since shirts and robes and take up the same slot as armor (so either a magic shirt or an armor), now armor sets often also include pants. So If we had magic pants they would be wearable together with shirts and robes, and chainshirts too probably but what about most other sets of armor, they'd not be able to get the extra slot filled up because their armor is blocking it.
That wouldn't be quite fair.

No pants time- - No pants time- - No pants time- - No pants time- -
Ok, got to share this with you guys...
A friend was playing a cleric of the god of alcohol in our homebrew. As usual he was drunk (he failed a sober-a-thon to raise money for his church). We were on a ship that had just beached so we could do some exploring. From the hold we can hear some sailors cheering and singing and we know the cleric is "celebrating" again. Then from below we hear, "No pants time!" followed by many sailors fleeing up to the decks... The cleric comes up and is not wearing any pants, and still has the target tattooed on his butt from a previous misadventure.
Oh, and he was a gnome... the female rogue in the group would laugh at him and say "smaller than a stack of dimes!" and she was a halfling!
Sorry you had to be there...

I swear you Britts should learn to speak proper English some day...

I find your lack of PANTS disturbing!
I don't want magical radiation anywhere between my belt area and my knees area.
On the other hand, a codpiece of protection that prevents critical hits would be welcome. Female characters are suddenly totally ineffective.

Now this is Shenanigans! you forgot skirts... shame on you...
But lets cover the bases, shall we?
* One headband, hat, helmet, or phylactery on the head
* One pair of eye lenses or goggles on or over the eyes
* One amulet, brooch, medallion, necklace, periapt, or scarab around the neck
* One vest, vestment, or shirt on the torso
* One robe or suit of armor on the body (over a vest, vestment, or shirt)
* One belt around the waist (over a robe or suit of armor)
* One cloak, cape, or mantle around the shoulders (over a robe or suit of armor)
* One pair of bracers or bracelets on the arms or wrists
* One glove, pair of gloves, or pair of gauntlets on the hands
* One ring on each hand (or two rings on one hand)
* One pair of boots or shoes on the feet
Ok, No Pants or Skirts!= Bad!
No Toe rings? I have seen both painting and old Photos of Gypsies wearing them, and they were popular in desert countrys.
Noes ring of Protection... honestly, I think fighters could use that, considering how often they get punched there..
And then.. we get really creative and mature.. and we can't talk about that on this board. [Wink, Wink, Nudge, Nudge.]

Sir,
As an Englishman, I can inform you that I speak English, the language of the English, perfectly. I may not speak the debased Colonial pidgin language you call English well, but that is as far from true English as you Colonials are from your English forebears.Oh, and Brit is the correct colloquialism for a person from the country of Great Britain, not Britt. You really should learn to speak American properly. Toodlepip and all that.
| Threeshades |
As far as I've been taught the language changed in britain after the American colonists were dispatched. So actual the Americans speak the proper English and the Brits speak the "debased pidgin language you call English". But I might be wrong.
But since I'm German so I can go a step further and say all of you are just speaking some devolved gibberish. :p

You forgot that you can also wear masks and blindfolds on the eyes slot.

Sir,
You may well be informed correctly. However, as English is the language of the English, by definition whichever version of it we speak is the correct English version. Other versions may, of course, be taught abroad, but really, what else can you expect of those not born within Her Majesty's Sceptred Isle?

Um, can we discuss english in the English section and save this one for the magic items?
So we are missing:
Pants
EarringsAnything else?
Any time one finds themself missing their pants and earrings, was probably a good time indeed. :)
I personally see earrings being part of the head or face (possibly even neck) slots. They're just more compact compared to a helmet of comprehend languages.

Head : Circlet, crown, diadem, hat, headband, helmet or frontal ornament
Eyes : Googles or lenses
Neck : Amulet, medalion, necklace, periapt, scarab
Shoulders : Cape, cloak, mantle or shoulders
Body : Armor, robe or shirt
Waist : Girdle or belt
Wrists : Bracers or kote
Hands : Gauntlets or gloves
Fingers : Rings
Feet : Boots or shoes
Special : One trinket in various location, such as anklet, brooch, earring, ioun stone, etc...
| Abraham spalding |
We where in a toss up about either having earrings be the face slot like goggles and masks are, or just having them be alternate rings.
However most the time earrings where worn as pairs to be effective, and most of our homebrew magical ones either had an effect on hearing or enhanced magic casting in some way.
The pants one actually bothers me though. It should be there. Or at least one of the slots (maybe the one vests occupy) should have "clothing" listed.
If I remember right you can have a either armor or robes, and still have a vest too.

adventures in the tropics are usually low magic, to prevent overheating of the characters? ;-)I gues one of those is in lieu of trousers.

What? <_<

I believe the proper term for armor would be chausses. LIkewise, only the shoulders and lower arms are covered by slots, so one could add the rerebrace.
Chausses are also a term for medieval pants, not just armor. Mens lower body covering was in 3 pieces, historically. Braes, made of linen and resembling boxer shorts, and a pair of chausses, which are pulled up like sleeves on the legs (they include feet) and tied at the waist. Tunics of the period were long enough the braes are hidden.

While this is a delightful idea, it doesn't work in game unfortunately.
The problem is most of those are "off spot" positions (particularly the Ioun stones), which cost more to produce because they aren't limited. If you made a bunch that *are* limited, it makes them either incompatible, or completely closes off "off spot" items.
