Fantasy Art Question

Off-Topic Discussions

It doesn't appear that we have a particular section for fantasy art, so I will shoot for OTD:

Anybody familiar with this Frazetta illustration? I was curious what it was made for. In the background it looks like an elder brain in its pool.

HEP!

Well, the copyright date is 1967, so we can eliminate RPGs.

Yep. I was assuming someone would see it, immediately recognize what novel it was a cover for, and go rummaging in their closet for it...maybe its luck of the draw or maybe it was a particularly obscure book?

Well, I finally found at least part of the answer to my own question: Nazareth, Expect No Mercy, 1977. It would seem that the artwork was not created for the album cover, originally. The title might be Man, Monster, and Brain.

Sovereign Court

I have it in one of my books at home. I'll check it later. My best guess is that it was a cover for one of the forgotten books or pulp magazine he did work for.

Sovereign Court

Well, it was an album cover.
