Thrakhir Flyingaxe |

Thrakhir takes another swing at the halfling with the handaxe. Attack 18, Damage 3
Black Tom
The cleric draws a shortsword and moves to engage Kirwen, slashing his arm for 8 points of damage.
I went ahead and placed the cleric next to Kirwen, but I justed wanted to make sure you know that it is 35' movement to get there by the fastest means and would have provoked an attack of opportunity by Clark at least.

Kirwen Wyrmsheart |

Black Tom |

Sorry, I seem to have got your positions all mixed up somehow. The cleric couldn't possibly have reached Kirwen, so if you please let me take that back. He'd go for Petra, moving to 1116 and granting Brock an AoO. That means that Kirwen gets to complete his spell, and Petra takes the damage. I suspect he's still blinded but note that you get a new save at the end of your turn every round.
Juliare is overcome by the mage's eldritch power and flees in terror. The dead dwarf does likewise when faced by Petra's holy power.
Kirwen and Petra might want to change their actions.

Brock Brightmore |

Brock lets out a little growl of anger as he is hit over the head while running around like a blind idiot.
Will: 1d20=8
Brock still blind runs towards the dwarf he had first tried to charge, not knowing that he has begun to run away, he also doesn't swing at the person passing him because he has no idea if it is friend or foe.
Lol!! Brock is having some trouble lol

Allrighty then!
Kirwen finishes his magic, now towering over his allies at nearly 13 feet tall. He blinks a few times, shaking his head, and the sparkles fade from his vision. He looks around the field of combat, his hands already shifting into red-scaled claws.

Brock Brightmore |

Brock hits the ground with a thud and loses it! He yells out in a bloody rage!
Will: 1d20+2=4
Even in the Rage Brock cant get the blind out of him and jumps at the person who tripped him like some wild bear.
I dont know what you want me to roll on his turn to jump up at the guy or if I have to stand first, so I just did some random roll that kinda stink!
Jump: 1d20+5=9
Attack: 1d20+7=25
Grapple: 1d20+7=26
Tell me if that works, Brock plans on head-butting whoever he has if that does. (he doesn't have to see to head butt what's in his arms

Well, you could head-butt him if you like, but attacking from a prone position takes a -4 penalty and an unarmed attack like head-butting provokes another AoO. Then again, so does standing up, and you only have one standard action left, so you can't stand up and attack.

Clark Freeman |

OK. That hurt. And thank you very much, Petra.
Clark moves protectively toward Petra to 1115 and swings his sword at her attacker, attacking defensively in light of his significant wound. Defensive Longsword attack 1d20-1=12 and Damage 1d8+2=7.
Alas, milady, I'm less effective than I'd like at the moment.

You're blessed, so it's actually a 13... not that that is likely to help...

Black Tom |

The mage looks alarmed at Kirwen's transformation and directs a spell at him. Will save vs. 14, Bless counts. The ugly man chuckles as he trips Brock again and thwacks him while he's down for 6 points of damage.
The cleric attacks Petra with both his swords but she easily fends him off. The halfling stabs Thrakhir in the abdomen for 4 points.
Juliare and the dead dwarf continue to run respective shuffle in opposite directions.
Petra, Clark, Brock, Thrakhir and Kirwen - you're all up.

Kirwen Wyrmsheart |

Realizing there are no enemies nearby, Kirwen lumbers toward the cleric, drawing his mace as he goes. He points one scaly red claw at the mage, growling, "You're next, Sparkles," before grasping the mace in both hands and taking a mighty swing at the cleric.
Moving to 12-13/16-17, drawing mace as I go.
Mace attack (1d20+4=24, damage 2d6+5=16)
crit confirm (remembering bless this time) (1d20+5=7, 2d6+5=10)
No crit, but I bet he felt that one...

Petra Pasmal |

If I get it right Kirwen is now in 1216+1217+1316+1317. Thus if Clark moves to 1015 Kirwen will be flanking Clark at 1217 so no need for Petra to help Clark or Kirwen get a flank.
Petra channels energy = 6 HP Spends 2 hero points
She leaves out: hafling, mage, gray-haired human male.
The Party and unarmed (unharmed) half-orc is healed 6 HP. She then moves to help Brock.
She moves to 1114 and then 1014, 0914 and stops at 0915 - Thus avoids AoO?
Petra mocks the ugly man: Got your hands full? Don't worry. Soon you'll have no hands left.

Thrakhir Flyingaxe |

Thrakhir takes another swipe at the halfling with his masterwork handaxe.
Attack the halfling (1d20+4=24, 1d6+1=7)
Sweet! Natural 20. Attempt to confirm critical (1d20+4=19).
"Hurts, don't it?" Thrakhir says with a smile.
That should do it. Additional critical damage (2d6=7) for a total of 14 to the halfling.
New map. I'm going to hold of on Petra's move for comfirmtion that's the tack she takes.

Kirwen Wyrmsheart |

New map.
Clark moves protectively toward Petra to 1115

Thanks, fixed!

Clark Freeman |

Not looking at the map, but shouldn't Petra's initial move out of her square be free of AoO? We always play that subsequent moves are subject to AoO.
Clark attempts to press the attack, taking advantage of Kirwen's flanking position.
Defensive longsword attack 1d20+1=20, damage 1d8+2=6
Possible crit confirmation:
Confirmation roll 1d20+1=18, Added damage if confirmed 1d8+2=10
Oh, that looks better!

That's only if you withdraw.

And better still, 'cause I think you forgot the bless again.

Sigh. Yes, that should be a possible crit vs AC 21 and a confirmation against AC 19. Thanks for pointing that out.

Black Tom |

The halfling drops to the ground with a shattered collarbone. The priest bleeds badly but fights on. Brock is thwacked again for 4 points as he rises, but can then attack if he likes.
Brock can take a swing at the ugly man, but then the mage casts a spell and runs away at an amazing speed, and the ugly man follows suit.
The cleric finds himself the last man standing and blasts you all with unholy energy, which oddly seems to heal himself. Damage 4, Will 10 halves.

Petra Pasmal |

Sweet! Natural 20. Attempt to confirm critical (1d20+4=19).
It should be 20 to the confirm. Thrakhir is bless to since it's a 50-ft burst :-) and bless give +1 to will saves LOL (but only vs. fear)

And the hafling gets a will save to! Killed by his own cleric LOL

Petra Pasmal |

Petra's will save roll: 1d20+5=15.

Thrakhir Flyingaxe |

Thrakhir moves back to his allies to 1015 and attacks the cleric. He should be flanking, thanks to Kirwen.
Attacking cleric with sneak attack damage. (1d20+6=26, 2d6+2=10)
Dang! Another natural 20.
Critical confirmation (1d20+6=20)
Critical damage (1d6+2=4) for a total of 14.

Black Tom |

Thrakhir chops the evil cleric down and a moment of silence ensues, only broken by the sound of desperately fleeing enemies.
Since the battle is over, I'm dropping you out of initiative order, and you can wait for Juliare to return, loot and possibly question the cleric and halfling at leisure. You each get 605 xp and a hero point for this battle. For a moment there I was worried that you would get TPK:d, so well done! I'm impressed.

Clark Freeman |

Petra takes a 5-ft step to 1114 (sometimes I'm a bit confused. Must have bad will saves) and then I guess Clark moves to 1015
I didn't intend for Clark to move once he'd engaged with a foe. Did you move him to follow Petra?
For a moment there I was worried that you would get TPK:d, so well done! I'm impressed.
Well, the way I was rolling, I was afraid Clark was going to die before he ever managed to hit anything. Instead, he may have gotten the first crit I think I've ever had in a pbp.
Clark watches the cleric fall with some relief and looks around to see how his companions fared before relaxing and finding something to lean against while he catches his breath.

Kirwen Wyrmsheart |

Will save (1d20+2=6)
Kirwen takes the blast of negative energy with a grunt, but does not seem terribly fazed by it.
As the ambushers flee, Kirwen gives a satisfied laugh. "Now that's more like it!" he booms out. "Thrakhir, m'boy, let's see what these fine fellows have to offer us, since they thought to take our treasure away." He turns toward Clark, nodding approvingly. "Well done, freed-man. And you too, priestess."
He looks at the unconscious bodies. "We got any need for these pathetic bastards?"

Petra Pasmal |

[...]He looks at the unconscious bodies. "We got any need for these pathetic bastards?"
Petra:
- I want the Clerci's head.- Cleric of the moon. Well what would he think if we left him b*tt naked? Then the moon can admire him.
Moon? Well it's daytime now and you're dead so you'll stay quiet.

Clark Freeman |

Brock Swings wildly at the air around him! Blind and totally pissed off!
Completely unaware that the battles over...
"Brock! Brock! They've fled! Stop swinging before you hit a friend!"
Besides, I think you are still due some saves to throw off the spell's effect. You didn't roll the last couple of rounds, did you?
-----------------------------
Clark picks up the cleric's longsword (assuming no one has) and gives is a couple of practice swings. "This weapon has a better balance than mine." He looks around at the others, "Would it be all right if I used this weapon, at least until we are able to sell it?"
-----------------------------
Looking at the wounded, he says, "I'm not against killing in the heat of battle, but killing a helpless individual in cold blood doesn't seem right to me. If nature lets them live, so be it. But I don't think we should be their executioners." If they are not stabilized, Clark will try to use their own clothes to bind their wounds - he won't ask anyone else to do it, and he won't use the party's equipment to do it. If someone offers to do it, he will aid them.
Heal or Aid Another checks, as appropriate and if necessary:
1d20+5=12, 1d20+5=19, 1d20+5=7, 1d20+5=6
-----------------------------
He's a little shocked at Petra's attitude toward the cleric, even with their recent history. "One or two bad clerics do not mean they are all deserving of the same fate, Petra. We could easily find ourselves relying on the healing graces of a cleric of the Moon down the road."

Had we been talking about a fair fight, decent honourable people and a surrender. Then I would agree to help the wounded. But this?
They ambush us, they are neither honourable nor people. An undead dwarf and a cleric that get healed by unholy energy. Since when does unholy energy heal decent people? Since when does it heal any people for that matter? If he isn't an undead he's probably somethinh worse. And they didn't surrender.Shall we heal them so they can continue to murder, torture, plunder and rape?
Petra to the body of the cleric: Shall we spare you?
Petra does an impersonation of the the cleric
- yes yes, please do, please get us better so we can continue to maim, murder, mutilate, and molest. That's what we do, cause mayhem and create undead, because we're evil. All praise to the moon.
Perhaps not all clerics of the moon are bad, but this one is and he attacked me and now he is going to taste a blad for the last time. If you want to you can go and take care of the hafling, this one is mine. Taking care of the bandit problem by being nice?
Petra goes for her scimitar. Initiative roll in case anyone tries to stop her: 1d20=11

Clark Freeman |

Clark does not make a move to stop Petra. "If we do not heal him, we are little better than he. Stopping his bleeding and leaving him to be eaten on the side the road is hardly a mercy, but it lets nature make the final decision. It's not for you and I to decide, but if you choose to, it's on your conscience, not mine."
He walks over to the halfling instead. Please apply his attempts to heal to the halfling since it appears that Petra will be providing some "negative energy" on the cleric's behalf.

Brock Brightmore |

Will: 1d20+2=6
Brock hears his friend deep in the back of his rage, but since he is blind, thinks this too could be magic and tries to hit the target that is no longer there in a frenzy of yells and grunts.
Not my day or week or something bad rolls

Thrakhir Flyingaxe |

"Brock! I'd be settlin' down before I have to settle ya down myself!" Thrakhir says with a coarse tone. The heat of battle still evident in his voice.
"Well, let's see, we've come across two clerics of the moon and both have been up to no good. I agree with with Petra, although, these two may be havin' some useful information on the the bandits we're lookin' for. Heck, they may be part of the same group. I say we be sparin' them for nothin' more than information, Petra. If they got nothin' useful to say, then we leave 'em be as Clark says. Let 'em be survivin' out here with the clothes on their backs. That's punishment enough, I say."
Thrakhir looks up to Clark. "Ya fought bravely today, lad. As far as i'm concerned, keep the sword. It'll be helpin' you watch my back all the better."
Thrakhir moves over to the halfling and strips the ring, sword, potions, armor and all other mundane equipment off the halfling and hog ties his hands and feet together with a short length of rope. Oink, oink." he says tauntingly to his prey.
He then looks over at Petra, "Am I tyin' him up, too? Or are ya killin' him without knowin' what he's got to say?"

Black Tom |

The spell affecting Brock only lasts about 3 rounds, so Brock is fine.
The cleric is wearing banded mail which you may also be interested in, whether you kill him on the spot or not. Also unless I'm mistaken Thrakhir missed a die on his crit, so the cleric is probably dead by now anyway.

Yep, I sure did. It should've been an additional 2d6+2 for the critical damage. Well, for posterity sake (and maybe to end this dilemma), here is the additional damage. Additional crit damage (1d6=5) for a total of 19.

Yeah, he's indeed dead as a coffin nail.

Clark Freeman |

After the attempts to stabilize the halfling:
Seeing no argument with his keeping the cleric's longsword, Clark replaces the one in his sheath. After thinking about it for a moment, he starts working to remove the cleric's longsword sheath. He's going to try to rig up a second sheath to carry his old sword as a spare.
