I know that Mr. Reynolds is making a point about character art when he says in today's Blog:

"Depending on the deity, this may require making them sexy (like Calistria), creepy (like Zon-Kuthon), badass (like Iomedae), or some other "hook."

But, as far as I can tell Iomedae is doing just fine on the "sexiness" front as well. :D

Badass!

But seriously i think all the art they have put out looks great in differnet ways and don't think they would put out anything that would upset me.

Eva Widermann created the image of Urgathoa. She's one of my favorite artists—you can expect to see a lot more of her work in Gods & Magic (she did the illo of Iomedae we showed off a while back, for example...).

More Eva Widermann!

Also, if you can afford to get Michael Komarck to do something, that'd be fantastic.

She's awesome.

What the hell is that half-babe half-yuck thing in the blog?! Gross! She even hedges out Mammy Graul for the position of most disgusting illustration.

hey hey!

she is actually sexy
ok half of her... and terrifying the rest :D

but i found cute the illustration of blood Magic for the old Vampire the Masquerade... is true is true... the blood sorceress has some kindness in the deep of those bloodshot eyes... ok maybe its just me :P
but her cleric special skill is terifying ! :S

Still i root for the Badass and sexy Iomedae :D

mmm... i need more of Eva's art :D

Well, I was just talking about the process of writing about a subject. Conveying that to an artist is another challenge, as is finding an artist who can portray the image in a way that fits the subject matter.

Not that I don't think Iomedae's bringin' da heet it her illo....

Who says beauty is only skin deep?

I'm curious, how many of Golarion's gods have we seen illustrations? I count three so far. (Asmodeus, Iomedae, and Urgathoa)

Scarab Sages

Sarenrae and Rovugug on the cover

Desna in the article in PF2

I find it hilarious that she feels the need to cover up her breasts. I'd think modesty would be rather beside the point in her case.

There's three reasons we ordered Urgathoa's art in this pose.

1) To avoid showing the nipples.
2) To give her a creepy sort of modesty and messed-up flirtatious look.
3) To poke fun at the USA's weird double-standard re: violence and sex. It's okay to show a woman who's been disemboweled and half-skeletonized... BUT FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY DON'T SHOW HER NIPPLES!

yeah i know... society is hypocrital :P

and we actaully thought she woudl be more crude :P the description is pretty much more gruesome :P half skeleton is nothing compared to "rotting from the waist to the feet until there is nothing but bones" sounds lots worst :P

Not to take this thread a whole nother direction.

But shouldn't the Goddess of Gluttony be at least moderatly Fat. I know the bony feet thing, but good lord it's hard to tell which half is the Skeletal

I love Eva's work. In regards to gluttony being fat however...notice the fangs? Plus the phrase "always hungry never full" springs to mind when you look at the mess around her feet. Gawd she's gross.

Desna, Lamashtu, Abadar and Zon-Kuthon were illustrated in their articles in various Pathfinders.

Well I confirmed this mentality HERE

She's also the goddess of vampires, and the gluttony angle actually plays into the fact that she's constantly hungry. When she drinks blood, it just runs out of her rotten underhalf and down over her legs; she's constantly starving as a result, and can only soothe this starvation by having her worshipers gorge themselves into corpulence. Not all of her followers are obese, but a fair amount are, and when they gorge themselves, they're eating for their goddess more than for themselves.

I recall an old issue of Hellblazer (IIRC) in which people were being possessed by a demon of gluttony or something similar, and the more they ate, the skinnier they got, until they starved to death while stuffing food into their faces.

I likes it.

You recall correctly. And i just bought and read it a couple weeks ago. it was one of the first, if not the first arc. Great stuff!

I have to try that excuse. "I EAT FOR GOD!"

So Mammy Graul was one of her Chosen?

Ah. I should have done that, it would have saved me the brief moment of confusion as to whether she was Urgathoa or Lara Flynn Boyle.

Either way, hot.

Nah... they're both way too fat.
