Halfling Favored Class

I think that Halflings should have Ranger as their second favored class, instead of Bard. I have three reasons for this:

1) It would prevent both the small races from sharing a favored class. Anything that helps Halfling and Gnomes feel different is a good thing.

2) It fits with both the Halfling Thrower archetype (archery style) and the Halfling Outrider archetype (Riding Dog animal companion).

3) Belkar is cooler than Lem. There. I said it.

While I agree that we don't really need two bardic races, I must admit that Gnomes feel more like rangers than halflings. I like the rogue/bard halfling choice.

Gnomes could have sorcerer/ranger (or Illusionist/ranger...;))

EDIT: I've mentioned this in the Half-Orc Wisdom modifier thread, but I also think half-orcs fit the stereotypical personality of a decent Ranger.

Well, I personally would have liked rogue / sorceror, as those were the two classes I have seen for halflings. Halflings made the best sorcerors in 3E.

But thematically, I can see that bard fits better than sorceror does. Ranger, to me at least, does not.

And frankly neither gnomes nor halflings fit well into any fighting class due to the -2 strength penalty (even bow ranger, which really requires bows which give strength bonus to damage). So ranger doesn't really work. :(
