The Beta PDF will replace the Alpha PDF in your digital assets sometime tomorrow morning.
Not since I'll have a 200+ page Beta to print out at work ;) . And then I think I'll make a copy there as well :p

Hey y'all:
I told our guys to valiantly try to get all the Betas out the door yesterday (Wednesday), but they were down a lot of manpower. Our warehouse manager, Jeff Strand, had his family reunion, but will be back in the office today. Jeff Alvarez and myself are at GenCon in Indianapolis and thus aren't there to help the team get the books out the door. I expect they will finish the job today. Cosmo and Jake Burgess are spending lots of their days this week helping Brock out in the warehouse. I have faith that the rest will get out today! And you will always have the PDF to keep you company. Soon, my precious, soon!

No, really, I would like to know if you get just the one email saying it's "about to ship", or is it followed by a 2nd email saying "it HAS shipped".
??
No, that email is the confirmation that something "has" shipped. We say "about to ship" in the email because while the package has at that point been considered "shipped" by our system, it remains to be picked up by the postal service or UPS. For any package going "standard postal delivery" or via UPS, if the email was sent before 5 p.m. or so Pacific Time, then the package will be picked up that day. For packages sent via USPS, or if the email was sent after 5 p.m. or so (which usually means your package was shipped by either Lisa or Jeff*), then the package will usually be picked up by the next business day.
*Yes, that means your package was personally shipped by either the CEO or vice president of Paizo. Can't get much more personal service than that!

I usually only do this when it is really busy (like this past week or Christmas) or if we are falling behind because of sickness, vacations, or just a heavy load of products to ship. I always say that the CEO's job is to pick up the slack where needed in the company while trying to keep everyone on track. You tend to do all kinds of crazy stuff in this job! :)

So, just which Paizo staff members are actually there at GenCon?
Just curious.
Also, I'm assuming we will get periodic reports on how things are going? I'm interested on what kind of reception and buzz there is about Paizo and the Pathfinder RPG etc. I'm also curious if there is much of the 4E vs 3.5E battleground mentality noticable amoung the con attendees or if it more of a D&D lovefest, regardless of edition (which is what I'm hoping)
Thanks!
Oh, and back on thread track ... I ordered my Beta and Campaign setting from Amazon, so I have another week or so before I get them.
Sigh ...

Paizo staffers at the show are myself, Vic Wertz, Jeff Alvarez, Erik Mona, James Jacobs, Jason Bulmahn, Wes Schneider, James Sutter, Sean K Reynolds, Sarah Robinson, Josh Frost, Nick Logue, and Chris Self. Gary is working the con from the Seattle offices, supporting us on the technical side.
As far as the convention goes, it has been spectacular! We have almost sold out of the Beta and the Campaign book in the first day! We brought along many more copies of those books than any other book we have ever sold at GenCon. The response has been incredible! I have heard that the Pathfinder Society room is packed with people playing and having a great time! Ed Greenwood came by the booth to thank me for the Pathfinder RPG and all the other great products we are making!
I haven't seen a lot of fighting amongst gamers. A few folks have yelled out "Thanks for saving Dungeons and Dragons" or something to that regard, but it hasn't been malicious or whatnot.
It seems that everyone is having a great time. The attendance looks spectacular and I am sure we are going to do very, very well at the convention.
Oh, I almost forgot, we sold over 500 copies of Dorkness Rising today! Wow!
