Could You, Just Perhaps, Create A Bulk *Game Group* Offer???

Alpha Playtest Feedback General Discussion

Okay, I will admit that the Pathfinder price is already a very good deal, and I'm buying the Beta test, but I have a slight little suggestion if you will give me a moment to possibly hear me out.
Could you, perhaps, consider, if not create, a bulk purchase rebate for gaming groups?
Here's the deal.... after seeing what 4th has to offer, my DM and I have decided that we are definitely going Pathfinder... heck, we were anyways as an additional gaming campaign, but this will definitely be the absolute core route now (to replace 3.5 as the core gaming campaign).... however, we need to encourage our fellow local players a bit more... we decided, that despite the fact that I stay broke these days and my DM is buying waaaayyy tooo many toys, we are going to pitch in and buy copies of the Beta for our gamers. Its a "think for yourselves" initiative, basically, play it until August 2009... if you like it, the final hardcover comes out, you'll know what to do...

However, in order to do this, it would be nice if we could save a few dollars a copy at least if we bought four or five copies at a time? Would a bulk package be possible... aka replace the groups' books deal?

Sadly, the Beta is already priced near break even. Pretty much the only discount we can offer is that Pathfinder Adventure Path subscribers get the Pathfinder Advantage discount (15% off MSRP) on it (and tens of thousands of other items in the store...)

I was kinda suspecting that... oh well, time for me and the DM to learn to diet and starve...

It's a noble sacrifice that you make for your fellow gamers. But if it's that extreme, why not offer to pay half the price of a book for them? Or whatever you can afford? If they're at all interested, they should see any offer from you as a sign that it's worth checking out, and if they aren't interested, then you won't be wasting your hard-earned money on a book for someone who doesn't really want it.

You could check with local shops. Sometimes they'll offer group discounts. Many book stores do this for book clubs, at the very least.

I have no trouble at all believing that!

I recently got a colour laser printer, and decided to see how cheap I could print it myself, just for kicks.

To compare, Pathfinder Beta will probably cost me someting like $35, or €24, if you include shipping.

If my calculatons are correct, it costs me 9 euro cents to print a page in colour (using the guidelines of how much I get out of my toner and drum, using the prices I could get the stuff for). For 400 pages, that would be 36€, another 2 or so for paper. 150% of what i pay for the book - and it wouldn't be bound yet (since my equipment can't handle those sizes except with ring binding, I'd have to get it done in the shop, adding another couple of tacken to the equation).

I know that Paizo pays less for the printing (much more efficient printing and lower prices for paper and binding and all that), but still, the price for the beta is quite nice.

Plus, as vic said: There's the 15% pathfinder advantage, at least.

And I really should try talking to your FLGS. I know from personal experience that they're not allergic to giving discounts if that makes people buy.
