I for one am getting sick of people feeling they need to tell the world that Pathfinder isn't for them.
It is cluttering up the general board, is unproductive and starts flame wars.
If a separate forum topic is created then we can put these negative posts where they belong preferably at the bottom of the page. That way they can easily be ignored.
Thanks for your consideration and keep up the great work you are doing.

I would rather the posts just get deleted or locked. If no one can post to the thread, it removes the motivation to lurk and see what people are saying about your departure. I doubt it's going to happen though.

Good idea. Also, when someone posts an "I'm out" thread their Paizo account is suspended.

Funny how one man's hero is another man's tar-and-feather victim.

Well, I wavered back and forth for a while, and there are still things that I'm going to heavily houserule for 4th (specifically, non-combat skills -- I want more of them, not less). But some things have finally gotten to me and I'm off.
1. Upper levels still look hellish in Pathfinder. Since I usually DM, the idea of suffering through all those modifiers and cross-references for a monster that's going to die anyway is just too much.
2. The mess of iterative attacks is still there. Ugh.
3. Spellcasters are still going to reduce the melee classes to sidekicks. And worse, the fighter is still as boring to play as a brick. "I miss, I hit, I miss, I hit." Yech.
4. Vancian casting is still haunting the scene. Enough said on that point.
5. Exception-based design is a lot better than the 'rules depict everything' design, IMO. I like the idea that there might be non-human magical traditions which can cast spells that humans can't -- and that can't cast spells which humans can -- for example. And it's damn fast to whip up an opponent, too.
6. And this is the real kicker that finally pushed me over the edge -- 4th edition, it turns out, is being printed in the U.S., while Pathfinder is being printed in China. If given a choice, I will support a company which supports American families rather than the People's Liberation Army slave-labor sweatshop factories.
Have fun with Pathfinder.
I'm absolutely staying Pathfinder... yeah, sorry guys, I've not been around for awhile but I've been broke from school, buried under gardening, working on schoolwork, and I... oh all things... have been invited to serve on a Board of Directors with a local homeless shelter... and I'm still in college!
But I'm buying both this year's release and next year's.....I've got a ton of 3.x books sitting here ready to be used with Pathfinder.
And after all the dust has settled (and kicked back up) at this point, I really only have two requests with Pathfinder... just two.
1. Please make my main class, the ranger, a bit different... aka more exciting (get rid of spells if you have to... we really can't use them by the time we get them.. or rather don't need them so much)
and the most important... this is my biggie:
2. If space allows, could you provide rules conversion notes for BOTH 3.0 and 3.5... the reason I'm asking is this... I see Pathfinder a little different than 3.5 (we call it 3.75 around here)... not alot, but a little... so since nothing will be say, 100% the same as last edition, why not also show support notes if you legally can for 3.0 then allllll products I have from 3.0 on out will be recognized with Pathfinder... hey, I'm going to use them all anyways, but thought it might be a good suggestion.

If you can call laughing at his post while watching Craig Ferguson "misery", then we speak a different language!
PS. I am leaving Pathfinder.

Stuff about ranger spells.
I kind of agree here. I've always prefered getting a slow sneak attack progression in place of weak spell-casting such as this. However, this would probably be best-served as either a class option (ala Arcane Bond or the Druid getting domains vs. a companion) or a house rule.
Stuff about conversion notes.
Good idea. However given the huge size of the final tome, I would prefer to see this in a web supplement. That will give both Paizo and us more flexibility. Paizo doesn't increase the page count and can tweak/release it more easily. We get a seperate guide we can keep open while flipping back and forth thru the PfRPG book looking things up and considering new options.

Let them have their threads. I would much much prefer a forum where open discussion is allowed and only actual verbal abuse and insults are policed by the forum admins.
Incidentally here is what the General Forum is clogged with right now:
* Can you create a Forum Topic for people saying Goodbye •
- A post complaining about people posting about leaving* Well I'm going bye now •
- A satirical post by LKL mocking people sending goodbye threads* Have fun with Pathfinder, I'm off to 4th edition.
- An actual bonified thread by someone leaving... but mostly a thread filled with humor and satire.* Well I'm staying with Pathfinder so deal with it.
- Another satirical post about saying goodbye* Pathfinder Monster Book Suggestion/Request •
- I'm a monster Rawr!
So maybe this thread should be retitled "Can you create a forum topic for people mocking people saying GoodBye?"

Moderators, could we please ban the grinning poodle?

I like it when people say that they are ditching Pathfinder because of Vancian magic. Like anyone besides Erik Mona knew what that was before a few months ago.
Actually, I first heard the term a couple years ago. And even though I did not have a term for it back then, I have hated it since basic.

Wait, what is Vancian magic, and how can I complain about it?! ;)
In all seriousness, I kind of expected this fallout as some people became bored with the playtest process, and their initial reaction to Pathfinder wore off or certain strong opinions were not taken into account (although to be fair, the Paizo staff was pretty clear about the design intent of PRPG, so all of this uproar about ignoring demands for change is pretty unwarrented.

Even if such a topic or forum or section existed I don't think people would use it right or as intended. Look at the PRPG forums, people post New Rules ideas in the chapter forums all the time instead of the New Rules forums. The chapter forums are for feedback and questions, not "how joe would do it" threads.

So, play a warlock, or even a sorceror. Or heck, play Mage.
