Tome show podcast is also there, they were at the seminar last night, but I didn't have his name. Hopefully he'll link us up.
Pathfinder society meeting
Nick, Eric and Josh were the panel.
Adventures will be 8 scenaros, 24 a year.
Will focus on Absalom as base of operations. Cosmopolitan city
5 factions. No evil characters. No Player vs. player
All characters are Pathfinders. All characters belong to factions and are pathfinders, but not all pathfinders belong to factions.
Factions are:
Andoran- Rah rah go democracy. Anti-slavery.
Cheliax. Exactly the opposite
Osarian – Khem not as dead as you think they are.
Qadira- Traders, spice traders (oblig Dune joke inserted) Vassal State
Taldor- Josh and Nick’s favourite. Political manipulation.
Since you can't be evil, I'm leaning towards Taldor
Completing faction assignments will gain characters points. Points will lead to faction prestige displayed online. Results of prestige will influce products.
Factions will have subplots in adventures. Subplots will not set player vs player (no, faction a must protect the guy while faction b must off him, for example)
Scenarios: 4 at Gen Con 4 next year at Origins, 2 a month in between.
Gen Con Scenarios
Intermission
Three tiers. Looking for GenCon Volunteers.
Tier 3 – 8 events, hotel room
Tier 2 - free badge run 4-7 slots
Tier 1 – free badge
Two more leaked scenarios
Website: Conventions can register. They can download adventures, public at the end of setember. Available for sale online when released to the public. PDF for now.
Playing In home and in stores, Ideas.
Stores will get signed up as a ‘Pathfinder approved store’ They can use the free scenarios with exclusivity for 6 months.
In Home program, requires a GM in home, (that’s me for our group) handles the paperwork and reporting.
Enrolling online. Still working out what to track on website. Physical and Electronic.
Josh “Will be Paizo’s DDI, but will be available on launch.”
Questions:
Online convetions: Working that out.
Can Play, then GM, but –not- GM and play. Slot 0 won’t work for home someone will have to ‘take one for the team.’
3.5 rule set until Gencon 09 Character Conversion will be possible and documented.
No expiration date for adventures, they will be season by season. Paizo reserve the right to cancel.
Monthly newsletter,
Core books only to start. (PHB, DMG, MM) Some items may be available from the beta and player's guides.
No psionics in season 0. I was very vocal in my pleasure. We're having an Erik effegy burning at Origins 2009
Society will not have XP. 3 scenarios = level up. Level Cap = 12.
12th level characters aren’t so much retired, bigger conventions will have high level character events.
Eventual goal, Pathfinder Modules to be integrated (not the adventure paths)
Modules may count as more than one scenario.
Scenarios will have some scaling information.
No certificates.
Core races only at least to start. Erik said SRD only, but I know he didnt mean the SRD, as the feared P word is in there. *psigh*
Players will need their own accounts, not just the GM.
No DM test. "We will asume people know how to run their game."
GM provides what is needed to provide scenario. Some goodides may be mentioned but not required. (example: Map may look like a flip mat, but you don't need the official flip map, pen and paper works fine)
Connectivity between adventures: Ta da! Magic.pathfinders get sent to the different places.
Player’s guide, GM guide, available August 1st.
The PG will include Suggestions for character and faction mix.
No Beta classes (initially)
4-6 characters/players at the table
Handouts with mission statements for factions.
FYI The pic yesterday of the people staring at the Beta, I'm the fat guy in the loud shirt and goatee.

Exciting! I cannot wait until the Player's Guide and GM Guide come out so that I can start planning on running these scenarios! I should also go to my FLGS and see if they'll be participating as one of these "Pathfinder Approved Stores". Also, I couldn't help laughing at the DDI comment. Fantastic.
This is shaping up to be a very interesting Organized Play system!
Oh, and I like the shirt! Easy to find in a crowd. ;)

I like the idea that the scenarios will incorporate things like the flip-mats. That's awesome, and reason enough to join.
Though I kind of doubt I'll be able to convince my players to go core 3.5. Especially now that we're playtesting Pathfinder Alpha. They love it too much.
well the adventures are built for 4 hour blocks, just schedule gaming time for 8 hours, 4 PFS and 4 home game - that way you can even play if you're the normal DM!

I wanted to correct or clarify a few items from the notes:
Adventures will be 8 scenaros, 24 a year.
We will release a total of 28 scenarios per year. This will include two scenarios per month with an additional two in June and August (for a total of four scenarios at Origins and Gen Con).
Stores will get signed up as a ‘Pathfinder approved store’ They can use the free scenarios with exclusivity for 6 months.
Stores and convention coordinators will have access to scenarios exclusively for 4-to-6 weeks before the public release of each scenario. Not six months. :-)

Thank you kindly, sir. Perils of typing quickly.
If I'd had the guts (and the energy) I'd have asked to sit in on the game that night.

Am I thinking about this right? I'll be playing all 4 Pathfinder Society Scenarios at Gen Con next month. If 3 scenarios = 1 level, does that mean I'll be playing my 4th Gen Con scenario at 2nd level. Also, if there are 28 scenarios per year, would I be right in thinking that no one will be hitting 12th level maximum this year since max with 28 scenarios would be 10th level?
Apologies if already answered elsewhere. I am very excited about playing!

Yep! You'll be 2nd level for the fourth Gencon adventure! That is...if you don't die. ;-)
Also, there are other ways to gain XP in Pathfinder Society Organized Play. For one, you can play Pathfinder Modules for XP (we'll be releasing conversions), and there will be special events at some conventions as well. Also, you don't have to retire your character after Season 0. You can keep playing them through Season 1 if you wish. You DO have to retire them at 12th level though.

Is the plan to write all these modules in house or will Paizo/Pathfinder farm some of these out?
Do you need module writers and is a draft of a writers' guide available?

What's the minimum size of a table going to be? What about the maximum? How flexible will level requirements be for adventures?
I know in LG the 4 - 6 player rule became a pain. If it was 4 - 7 or 3-6 it would be infinately more flexible. I like the idea of leveling after so many scenarios but what if the goals are not achieved?

That's a lot of scenarios!
You'd have to complete more than one every two weeks. How does this relate to people running home games?
Would you be expected to run them all, or just as many as you can?

4-to-6 players at the table. No more, no less.
Levels will work thusly:
All four of the scenarios at Gen Con are in the 1-5 bracket. That bracket is broken down with encounters written for both levels 1-2 and levels 4-5. If your APL (average party level) is 1-2, you play the lower bracket. If your APL is 4-5, you play the upper bracket (with increased rewards) and if your APL is exactly 3, you get to decide if you want to play it easy or hard.
Obviously at Gen Con, all brackets will be run 1-2.
Further details shall be found in the Player's Guide and the GM's Guide.

Sometime before the end of the year we'll open a submissions process for the Pathfinder Society Scenarios. For now, we're hiring established game writers to pen them.

Not achieving your faction goal or goals is entirely possible. You are not guaranteed to get them accomplished all the time.

Home games should be relatively easy as these are meant to be run in 4-hour slots. That means 10 months out of the year you'd need two 4-hour time slots to run them and then 2 months you'd need four, 4-hour slots. (This is, of course, assuming you want to run every single one of them in a given year.)

If a group were not able to complete the full 28 scenarios, for whatever reason, are their results still valid, useful and valuable to you?

There is no requirement to run all of the scenarios. Whatever you can run is what you'll contribute to your faction's prestige. This isn't a "gotta catch 'em all!" system, it's a "whatever you have time to play, just get together with friends and have fun!" system. Oh, and smack talk the crap out of players not in your faction. Go team!

We're talking about this. We won't have a decision or plan for online PFS play until post-Gen Con(UK).
Any more word on online play? Will I, for example, be able to use Maptools or Fantasy Grounds to run my group through the scenarios and have it count? I'd think so, since it's not much different than tabletop play, but I just want to make sure. :)
Thanks!
